Still no real idea what this is, probably won't know till I download it, but...
Alright – the new channel allows you to register your Miis as voters. Once that’s done, they have questions up (Nintendo-made and submitted!) that each of your registered Miis can vote on. Then, you also predict what you think the majority will vote for. It tracks these statistics by Mii as well!
Check it out in Wii Ware.

Useless, unless they ultimately use this to make decisions like which VC games will be released in any given week. Of the titles the have prepared, of course. This would be pretty great, I think.

I think that's where they're going with it.

My Wii isn't glowing blue :(

What an odd channel, better than nothing I suppose. It'll get somewhat interesting when the results come in.

I do hope they release more functional channels soon, like a music player.

I of course offered the Poll question "Would you like to vote on new Virtual Console releases or save the surprise?" maybe to try to promt Nintendo.

But yeah, other than voting on the VC releases, the only thing I can say that it's for would be to see how alike, or unalike you are to everyone else.

This has statistics for everyone who has a Wii connected, not just for people who use your console, right? If it's just Miis on our console, it'd be kinda pointless cuz only two people use our Wii. I'm wondering if this is worth using up a channel space.

Yeah, it's connected to the web, so you get to see results when the poll's over. You can also predict what will win and see if you're good at it or not.
"Do you prefer cats or dogs?" Ownership or as food?
Depends on what region you are from.

Seems like another thing I'm not going to use (Weather channel and News channel) but I guess free isn't hurting me.

I did like the interface and music though.

It is a worldwide poll question after all.

I just wish these questions weren't stupid (I'd rather live in a house on...) and were more important Wii-related questions.

Some Nintendo trivia could be fun too. Not a poll question but rather a quiz...

Maybe they're just asking stupid questions till they build up a base. This could be free, easy market research for them, if they'd use it.

What a terrible name. They should have called it the Ballot Channel.

They should have spent the resources on this, on a demo channel.

Did everyone do a Wii System Update before they downloaded the channel from the Wii Shop? Did anyone not do a Wii System Update and download the channel from the Wii Shop?

I ask because I update my system and then downloaded the channel, and now I'm wondering what the system update did. Did the system update update the Wii Shop to deliver the channel or what?

It probably unlocks the channel for usage. When I just downloaded the channel and started it before updating, it just told me that I needed to update first to use the channel. The channel was already available in the Wii Shop channel beforehand, too.

I kind of like how Nintendo just releases a channel without telling anyone before hand. I hope they do it again in the future, it's kind of a nice surprise.

My poll suggestion for the day was "Would you download localized Japanese Virtual Console (NES/SNES) games?" Maybe if they get enough suggestions like this they'll make a poll to gauge real interest. But probably not.

Liking the smooth interface. Hopefully they'll keep it updated fairly frequently.

Don't forget that Nintendo is targeting non-gamers. Non-gamers don't have a preference for either Kraid or Ridley, but they sure would like to tell you whether they prefer vanilla or chocolate ice cream. Just look at all those pointless "About Me" forms that people add to their MySpace.

I like the fact that we just got this odd, random channel.

Makes me think about what other fun, yet odd, random channels we'll be getting in the future.

Just noticed this after above post. Methinks you're correct. It's too random to be random, if you know what I mean.

this is exactly how i feel...

sure, this is totally pointless... but i thought it was fun, and could get even better in the future... when results and stuff are posted. it's just another little 'thing' that the system offers... a way to kill time... and with a lot of questions, voting could become strangely addicting.

Well we can only hope they give us SOME good questions. I don't mind the every once in a while "Vanilla or Chocolate?" "Cake or Pie?" "Apples or Oranges", but for the most part I really hope we get to see some good debatable polls.

But I may be over-thinking this lol :(

The update allows you to set the region, without the update, the vote channel boots you back to the wii menu.
The first poll questioned I asked, do you want to see more games have full online play and content.

The answers were both yes

nintendo is giving us a direct talkback link people, this is a chance to be seized!

Yeah, I get the feeling that most people here are getting their hopes up for nothing. I, for one, am not expecting anything more than what we see now. If anything more comes of this channel, I'll be pleasantly surprised. If nothing happens, I won't be disappointed.

Just take a look at the Forecast Channel: how much has been improved or upgraded since it launched? Nothing so far as I can see. They can't even get the basic info updated regularly, let alone add newer, fuller features.

So my point is: get ready for a year of "blue or red?" and "football or basketball?" and "hamburgers or hot dogs?"

Nintendo should stop wasting there god damn time on this and make a channel people will actually use more than once. A music channel must be so easy to make, yet they haven't made it yet.

Yeah so I come back from getting a drink and I saw the Blue light I was like what the fuck? So I was like fuck Nintendo somewhat gives a damn about channels. Then I downloaded it because it was free, and I like that. It is totally pointless but hey you can't beat free, lol.

Frisky is probably right. I got the channel and tried to access it, but it made me update the system before I could get into the channel. I'm sure it was there just to allow access to the channel, or something.
Why is everyone complaining? It's nice Nintendo is trying to surprise us with new channels.
I agree, we got something free from Nintendo, sure it isn't that usefull but think of it this way, Nintendo went out of it's way to release a new channel for free. Where is Sony and Microsoft with the generosity?

GT HD?

I think it allows you to set your region or something.

I'm not even going to play this off like I'm not complaining -- I know I am. I just find this new channel to be wholly uninteresting to me. I would rather they spend their time fixing the Forecast Channel so that it at least gives me updates within the hour. After being so surprised by the great presentation, depth, and actual usefulness of the News Channel, the Everybody Votes Channel seems like a real let-down.
