exhanging my ds lite at wal-mart? w/o receipt

Yonex204

CAGiversary!
I was wondering if its possible to exchange my ds lite for another one at wal-mart because my ds lite has 2 dead pixels and it now has the infamous cracked hinge so i would i really love to get a new one to fix these problems asap (i just got zelda =) )

I don't know if this is true or not but Wal-Mart might store the serial numbers in the computers. If that is true then they will know you bought it there and when and if it is in their time limit they should exchange it. They exchanged mine because of a dead pixel but that was within a day.

If they don't exchange it then try Nintendo. They have a great customer service and should help you.
That's illegal.

I've forwarded your IP address to your local authorities.
I certainly hope you're being sarcastic, since the OP did say they got it there. I've ALWAYS felt that if a game system has flaws or malfunctions and it's within the stores usual return 'grace' period, receipt or not, I should be able to return it THERE for an exchange if the screw up was through NO FAULT OF MY OWN.

Now, if I bought a PS2 or something, then clumsily dumped a cup of coffee on it while it's running and it sparks and sizzles, that's MY fault, not theirs. But, if it were still during the console manufacturers warranty period, I'd attempt to have it fixed by them, even though it was my fault.

Maybe that's a double standard, but if the system is bad from the store and within the month and a half typical return period, I say the exchange should be up to THEM to do still. I know quite a few retailers give you the game system makers number if they have it and say 'contact them'. To me, that is bullshit because the maker of the system will tell you to ship it to them and some may even charge you to repair it, even during the warranty period.

So, on top of whatever you paid for it, you now pay for shipping and any possible repair costs.

How long ago did you buy it? If it's been less than a year, call Nintendo. The cracked hinge is covered under the warranty & who knows, they might try to fix the screen too. Wal-Mart's warranty on electronics is a month. If it's long than that, you'll be denied.

Of course, but cracked hinges don't happen in a month. He has probably had the system for a good few months, and the dead pixels most likely developed over that time.

It's not Wal-Marts issue, send it to Nintendo for repairs.

agreed, Nintendo was kind enough to fix my cracked hinge AND red stuck pixel on my touch screen. This was an original DS (the fatty) AND it was purchased from the Sam Goody close out of early last year. To them it didn't matter as they took it anyways. A week later my ds was fixed and given another 1 year extension!

great customer service.

Yeah lets all jump in and defend the all mighty corporate powerhouse that is Walmart. They have never done anything as immoral as exchanging an old DS for a new one. They are the beacon for what is right in the world. All hail Walmart.

Fighting immorality with immorality doesn't make it moral.

I third the nintendo recommendation. I called about my cracked hinge and they replaced it and gave me a new 2 yr warranty on it. AMAZING customer service.

You have to really wonder why the OP would buy it at Wal-Mart.

Why would it even matter?

Supporting Wal-Mart effects everyone in a negative way, if it's not a deal then I don't see why you would purchase it from such a despicable company.

Yeah, because Circuit City. Best Buy and Gamestop are paragons of corporate virtue. I used to work at Wal-Mart as a teenager, I know what they're like, but to single them out as some particular evil over every other big box store? Give me a break.
