My son still plays a lot of gamecube games on the wii but i've found that there is no easy way to get out of a gamecube game and go back to the Wii menu. Am I missing something?

When you exit a gamecube game it goes to the game's title screen. However the Wiimote will not connect, so you can't press the home button to return to the Wii menu.

We basically need to power down the system and start over. Is there a better way?

This is in the FAQ, but no, there's no way. When the Wii goes into GC mode, it is a GC for all intents and purposes. Meaning it is fully unaware of the Wii and its functions.

There might be a way to fix this with a firmware update, but it is not very likely.

To be clear, you can just hit the reset button (which doesn't take any longer to get back to the channels than it would if there were a way to do so through the software, just means you have to get up).

I read it as exiting, but assumed it was a typo and was supposed to be exciting.

The reset button for me simply resets the GC game.

Oops, sorry for the title. Even I'm misreading it now!

I read through the FAQ but missed the line about gamecube games. But thanks for the answers. Glad to see I'm not alone in finding this to be annoying.

Yea reset doesn't do it either. As far as I can tell you have to completely power down the system. Which is annoying since you can't even do it via the Wiimote.
