F.E.A.R. (PC) $30/$35 (Director's Edition) with free shipping at Amazon
is the directors version worth the extra 5 whammys? cause i'm really thinking about picking this up finally.
The main feature, really, is that it's on a DVD, rather than 5 CDs like the regular version.

It also has a live-action prequel short, a comic, a making-of video, a commentary video, and some really stupid "machinima" things. The making of and commentary are nice, anyway.

Anyway, I liked this game, and I'm not really into most modern whiz-bang FPSs, so, that's saying something. Thanks, Cheapy.

This is easily the best game I've played on the computer. It's awesome and I'd recommend the Director's Cut simply because you don't have the ridiculous 5 CDs to install the game. The commentary and stuff is sorta cool, but the main draw for me was not having so much shit to deal with.

Grr, this is only the second game (the first being Battlefield 2) that I really wanted, but I don't think my PC will do it any kind of justice.

Great Game, I highly suggest picking it up at that price. Best PC game of the year, hands down.

Thanks Cheapy, just picked up the Director's Edition. I justify this puchas with the logic that I would be spending $22 on this game eventually, so it's worth an extra $13 to play the Director's now.

I can't get the demo to work on my computer. It just goes to a black screen lockup. Yes I've updated my drivers. And yes my computer can run it (dell xps). I would buy the game, but i'm afraid it won't work if the demo won't

Kind of OT but not really, but it's regarding Amazon.com and CD and DVD versions of a game.

I ordered the Stubbs the Zombie game for PC from them
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...409047-0471129?v=glance&s=videogames&n=507846
If you notice it says it's the DVD version. When I got the package, they sent me the CD version. I contacted their customer service department, and they said they made a mistake and would send me out the correct version. So via UPS 2 day air, I got another package from them and opened the box... and they sent me another CD ROM version!
The odd thing is, they do not sell the CD ROM version of the game on the site anywhere, so why did they even sond it?

Hmmm, that's strange. I think F.E.A.R. will be fine since it lists the two different versions. Hopefully you'll get your DVD eventually.

For the extra $5, I'd rather have it on ONE DVD than 5 CD's.
Plus, all the extras and whatnot seem cool.

Well they said they can't fix this order twice.. I guess company policy or something.
So they said I can return both copies and get a refund, or keep one and return the extra one. Regardless they gave me a $10 gift certificate for my troubles so it's not too bad. :)

I just really wanted the DVD edition..
I've been thinking, and I was considering if I PMed this price to Best Buy's F.E.A.R. price to make it $30 and then use the $10 off coupon from this thread http://cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74470&page=1&pp=20 would it make the game cost $20? That would be even sweeter. Sorry, I am new, so I don't know if it is possible to do this or not.
Welcome.

Some Best Buys are very stingy on price-matching websites let alone accepting a coupon on top of that. Best case scenario, they price match the website and accept the coupon. Worst case scenario, they only accept the $10 off coupon.

So really, like other deals, it's YMMV (your mileage may vary).

I'm playing FEAR right now! It's easily the best FPS I've ever played....and I've played everything from Doom II to now. The sound (try headphones) and the gun battles are by far the best ever seen.
