Yeah. Everyone can call their game "Game of the Year" I guess. You have a zillion game review sites selecting their own "Game of the Year". I guess if just one of these sites selects a given game as "Game of the Year" that game's publisher willl use it for marketing.

You'd otherwise have to ask yourself - how many "Game of the Year" can there be from the same year?

Yeah the "Goty" thing sucks.
