So I hopped on the band wagon, picked up a copy of Fable and am about 10 hours into it... so far I have more complaints than praises. I think that you age too fast in the game, maybe because I don't spend enough time doing nothing? Also, I think the main story of the game is BORING, moves slow and just doesnt have me hooked like other games (various FF, Xeno, Grandia, plenty of others). I kinda wish you could have kids too, the dating in the game makes me think of the Sims, they had to of been influenced by it.

As for the battle system, I kinda like it, I seem to have a problem with blocking, my finger just doesnt go to the Y button, I'll press 5 others before I get it. However, I find the AI to be retarded and have had no trouble with any enemy thus far, and haven't even come close to dying or used the resurection potions.

And finally, I've had a semi-big problem with the game, I assume that it is all streamed off the disk, I hear it loading a lot. I've had a lot of lag and sometimes the game just freezes for a moment. I'm wondering if this is the xbox, the disc, or a bug in the game itself. Anyone else had this problem?

Anyway, now you know what I think, what does everyone else out there with the game think about it so far? Tell me why I'm wrong, I want to like this game more!! Also, maybe this will help some of those people that are still on the fence about picking the game up.

Damn that bump. It forces me to answer your thread.

I don't agree with you at all. You're supposed to have fun in the game instead of trying to zoom through it really quickly. The little things that they added such as getting woman and being able to get drunk that makes the game fun.

The storyline seems fine so far but I'm not very deep into the game yet. I finished the final test and have been messing around since then. It's alot of fun to play it.

I was also suprised about the battle system. I think it's easy to use and very solid.

I haven't gotten very much lag at all so I'm guessing something's wrong with your copy or maybe your Xbox?

It is a very good game that should be required for all Xbox owners to own sooner or later.

I'm sorry you haven't been enjoying the game like so many others, but it seems to me like you're not playing the game the way it's supposed to be played.

Yet another Fable thread. Was this really needed? This makes Fable thread #13 on the XBOX forum.. just on the front page.
Yet another Fable thread. Was this really needed? Some people don't believe it has lived up to the hype, while others think it's better than expected. We've got some controversy on this game... I guess. :?

I dunno, I've done lots of extra stuff, extra side quests, real estate, 3 wives, stealing, soccer with heads, i dunno... its just a victim of its on hype perhaps

People just expected to much from this game.It is a great game and the best game I have played all year but to many people expecting soo much shit from this game that there just setting themselfs up for a disapointment.I stopped reading about this game a few months ago and tried avoiding trailers and clips because of me hyping it up to much for myself. It really kills anything when you read every udpate watch every clip.Same with movies when they show you all of the best stuff you arent left with much of a suprise when you actually play/see it

I'll get it when it's at 20.
Agreed. Looks interesting, but not sure if I want to spend $50 on it.
You do. Oh, trust me, you do.
i dunno... 20 looks good in hindsight

I was very dissapointed at first, but now that i'm past training it is getting better. I don't konw if it's worth fifty bucks... but i only payed 40 and actually didn't pay anything cuz i traded in crappy circuit city games to get it.

I'd say a good buy at 30 but 50 is too much, but as long as I just traded in circit city games it was an ok deal. Oh and the load times are longer than anything else i've ever seen on the xbox except maybe kotor

The load times are very short. If you'd actually play the game instead of bash it, you'd like it. Trying to judge a game before actually getting into it (you should allot an hour to training) is stupid.

heh, you must not have a ps2

I was rather impressed so far. But I'm only 8 or 9 hours in and just got dine with the Arena, I'm just worried once I'm done with the main story what I'll do. I can take over villages and slaughter innocents, but I could also do that in Morrowind.

I still think Morrowind is the better game when it comes to being able to do whatever, but it had clunky combat and too many bugs to keep me attached to it. Fable has the better combat system by far, and the graphics and sound are very very nice.

I read that your load times have something to do with what kind of drive you have in your xbox and how new it is. The crappier slower drives will take longer like 8 seconds and the newer samsung drives take like 2-4.
$15 maybe. MAYBE...
I think that sounds about right. Besides, I've got no time for it now that Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is coming in a matter of weeks. There's the RPG to buy...mark my words mortals, and mark them well.

I'm just a little beyond the arena and I have seen some lag. I think it's just part of the game, which is annoying. It's got both good and bad. It is fun to just fiddle with some of the stuff that's in there, a la dating. I want to be evil, but am having a tough time doing it.

I also agree you age too quickly. In 10 days of game time I aged 10 years. That is not cool. Still the ladies, they love me.

I'm going to have to agree with aging too quickly. My character is in his mid-40's and I've only played about 15 days in the game. I think there should have been a Hair Dye card to at least make you look less "grampa-ish" so early in the game.

The load time gets pretty annoying too, especially for running around and getting experience.

Overall, I've almost gotten my moneys worth from the game.

My only problem is regarding the bow and arrow control scheme (ie click the left thumbstick to zoom in) I must have accidently hit the left thumb stick while strafing a hundred times, meaning i get to stand still and get whomped on by cannibalistic hobbes while i get a pretty zoom in of one of the ten monsters eating my face.

I AM impressed by the lives that the NPCs have. Closing shop, hiding wares on outside shops, going to the bar after work.... in one town, you can honestly find 20 of the 25 people in the town at the tavern just after shops close.

i want to dye my old man hair

everyone loves me, men and women, i dont even have to buy gifts, if i just stand around peoples hearts get bigger..... yeah id have to say im a goody goody

I went from Chicken Chaser to Assassin to Reaper.

I beat the game. Which sucks. It's probably on par with the length of Riddick, depending on if you do sidemissions or not. Great game, will play through it again.. a shame that being good or evil has no effect on the storyline, though, just appearance.

The bosses are also some of the easiest bosses I've ever fought against in any game on any system.

I beat the game too, but there's still stuff to do afterwards. You can still go back and do quests you haven't finished, collect silver keys (and you'll want to, if you want to find some of the cool weps and such), do demon door stuff, take over a town/rent out the buildings...

You don't have the same sense of purpose after it's over, but you can still dick around I guess.

Im on the verge of beating it and I cant find side quests for the life of me, im trying to get more hours out of this but I think I'll only be able to do that if I do all the demon doors and silver keys.... which I dont really feel up to... I agree its lame that being good or evil doesnt effect the story. Oh well...

Riddick? It's that short? Not to say I didn't think Riddick's length felt perfect for the pace of the story, but I'd expect something a bit longer from an action RPG.

the game is VERY short, i think id have a hard time going past 30 hours, and thats with a lot of side quests and messing around and stuff, you could do this game in 10 hours or less if you just follow the story
