When do you think this game is going to come out? Supposedly it's still on track for September 04, but I hear a lot of people doubting this release date. I'm considering getting an X-Box (mainly just for this game and Panzer Dragoon) so I'd like to know if people think this game is actually going to come out this summer.

All I've heard is Microsoft and the developer are holding strong with Sept., but retailers are saying it will be January 2005 area. I dunno who to believe though. It would make sense to get it out in September because that would give the Xbox's library a big boost in the RPG category and carve a strong path for Halo 2.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it get delayed again, but I could see it coming out on time too, so it is tough to say. I would recommend getting an xbox either way, because there are a lot of good games for it

Im sure it will come out by September 2004. After all, Microsoft needs a big game to tide Xbox owners over until Halo 2.

This game can't be delayed I'm so F'n pumped for this, I've been following it for a while, and I just got a Xbox a couple days ago, and am definitely ready for it!

Fable's going to ROCK!

I agree...they can't afford another delay. Fable's been in development for years now.

Xbox needs to pull out the heavy guns. A few more months and we'll be ramping up for the holiday season.

Personally I have enough stuff I can play in the meantime, if they need to delay it again then so be it, I would rather have a perfect game then some crap full of bugs they rushed out for Christmas.

Reminds me of Gran turismo 2 coming out on what, December 20th or some crazy date like that and having glitches out the ass, with the biggest offender being driving through other cars and getting stuck and not being able to finish the game 100 percent.

I can't wait for Fable (although that's what I've been doing all these months). I hope it lives up to the hype and delays it's been receiving.

I would hope they do extensive bug testing on this game. It seems to have been delayed forever, but I really think this Sept is the first legitimate date. I think we heard about it in the planning stages, and everyone assumed it was further along than it was.

So, it wouldn't shock me if it came out in the Sept/Oct area. However, how good it will be is another thing. So many of the 'revolutionary' things have been taken out, what is this game really promoting it can do (other than kill off your character from old age, which I'm not sure is a great thing, many people like playing the game over long periods of time just to do it)? The openendedness has already been done (Morrowind), and I don't see it feeling bigger than Morrowind GOTY did.

Well I'm waiting for it but as another guy said I'll rather wait for GOOD game(not perfect) than a buggy one. I mean there are a lot of good games for Xbox that I need to play.(Chronicles of Riddick, FSW, Breakdown, Sudeki, SC: PT, I wanna get Ninja Gaiden again, RSC2, etc)

And for the guy who's going to buy an Xbox for PDO and Fable. Dude there are great games that you've probably missed like PGR2, KOTOR, both Splinter Cells, Halo, Ninja Gaiden etc....

About the bonus DVD with pre-order, does that only come from online pre-orders, or can you directly pre-order it from the store and recieve the bonus?

And yea, Fable's gonna rock. I've been following it back when it was called Project EGO. Before all the hype.

And that's one thing I'm afraid of. Fable has gotten a little too much hype, and although I'm confident in Lionhead Studios, I do fear that Fable won't live up to its hype. This ambitious game has already cut out some major features (muti-player) and added some "lack luster" features (generic kill baddie, gain exp/level up thingy) The game was orginally supposed to not have exp and lvls to give the user a broader gaming experience.

But even with the cuts and crappy additions, I think it can live up to all its hype.

When I was at Gamestop over the last weekend, I was told that you get teh Bonus DVD right away and you keep it whether you end up getting the game or not...but you have to pre-order it in order to get the DVD...

I'm probably heading to Gamestop this weekend to trade in some games (with their $3/extra for up to 5 trade-in special) and get it for next to nothing...

I don't want to say it, but it'll probaby be delayed. However, Panzer is enough reason to get an Xbox :)

If only Panzer Zwei and Saga were also unlockable... I could sell my saturn games and buy more booze!!
My prediction:

The movies comes out before Fable
Does The Movies even have a set release date? I doubt the biggest delay Fable could recieve is anymore than I'd say 4 months. Let's just hope for the best.

I work at EB and I just picked up my bonus Fable DVD. You can get it in-store, but the only copies we got were for existing preorders save ONE (which I got with my new preorder). I wouldn't wait around though.. they are only going to have so many of these.

NOTE: It contains a SUDEKI demo! (among 6 or so other demos - mostly sports stuff)

I must say, this game looks very beautiful. The combat requires some adjusting since it is all real-time. But I got the hang of it very fast. It is a great demo (maybe I actually will buy this one..).. a little short though.

Oh, and the commentary/footage on the bonus Fable DVD has definitely raised the hype bar for me.

I got the Bonus DVD like 2 weeks ago, they were released July 1st, I got it from Gamestop and the videos of this game are awesome!!!! They show the character models, footage of him aging, being good or evil with horns, the environments and monsters, plus the Sudeki demo is very worth it even though it comes out like next week!!!

For all of you who get EGM, the September Issue #182 has a three page advertisement for Fable. On pages 13, 15, and 17, there are full page spreads. Fable is coming out this year to cash in on the holiday season for Xbox. If not, it would either come out towards the end of the Xbox's lifecycle, or become a launch title for Xbox 2... neither of which Big Blue Box or Microsoft wants to happen.

This game has to have huge development costs, and it needs to come out this fall to make the sales it needs to cover those costs. It also has one other dilemma facing it: Halo 2. Pushed off til November 9, it makes sense that Microsoft is both a)spacing its blockbuster titles and b)keeping Halo 2 from burying Fable in the media coverage, Xbox owner's wallet ability, and the slew of other holiday titles.

September 14 just happens to be a full 8 weeks (2 months) before Halo 2's release. That should give it enough time to sell well, for the buyer's and media to tell their respective friends and viewers, and for those friends/viewers to buy their respective copies a few weeks to two months after the release date.

I have also been following this game since it was first announced several years ago. Although not as hyped as I have been for it, this is still on my top 3 want list. My only debate is whether to get the pre-order 'DVD'....ooohhh bonus, lol, or to get the Overstock.com $45 deal and save $7. Is the DVD really worth the extra money? And no, I don't need it on its release date since I have way too many games, most of which I have not played. School, work, friends, CAG, and ebay take the majority of my time now.

I'm in the same boat as you regarding pre-ordering, I'm leaning heavily towards no though, as I too have wayyyy too many games, and there is still a big chance of this game sucking IMO and I don't like paying full retail. If this bonus thing is rare though, it may be worth it. Is there anything really cool on the bonus DVD, or is it just some interviews and sudeki demo?

Im not sure if Im going to preorder Fable. I know that EB has a deal where if you trade in two games you get $20 off the price of Fable, but Im sure that Best Buy or Target will have gift cards or something like that on Fable's release.
or to get the Overstock.com $45 deal and save $7.
Don't forget that you get a few bucks off through cheapassgamer, and theres a 10% coupon. I pre-ordered Halo 2 LE, and Fable for $87.58 shipped.

Before all the hype? That was when exactly? Project Ego was super-hyped before the Xbox was ever released.. there is no before the hype. And as much as I want this game to be all it's made out to be.. I have a feeling it'll become a huge dissapointment.

A. I've never found a game with this sort of hype surrounding it to really produce.

B. They've been constantly removing things from the game.. the current game is a shell of what Project Ego was supposed to be.

C. I have yet to hear any bit of discussion about a story or a plot.. yes its neat that you grow and age and get a reputation.. but I have no interest in just plodding around doing that with nothing going on around me.

Sudeki is a game I have 0 hope for. Climax has made a few good games, but their most recent RPG, Climax Landers/Time Stalkers for the DC, was absolutely horrible. If Sudeki is more like Dark Savior or Landstalker.

I don't think Fable will be delayed again. As it is, it was announced to be coming out right around now originally and was pushed back until Sept. Fable looks great; I hope it lives up to the hype. I'll be waiting to see reviews and for at least a $10 price drop before I pick this one up.
