CAGiversary!
I don't really care about this new "feature", but I found it very interesting that I've started getting all of these friend suggestions from people that I have in no way searched for or linked to via facebook. Ex coworkers, people I've talked to maybe 3 times in my life, things like that. I don't have FB set up to scan my email and now suddenly today it looks like they scanned my entire contacts list and added them as suggestions.

Dude, I know. It creeps me out how accurately it guesses (I have no contacts on the email address I signed up with)

Who gives a shit? Unless it defaults to facebook.com/firstlastname it wont be any easier to find anyone. No one looking for me from highschool will think to type in facebook.com/Malik112099. No one I havent talked to in highschool in 10 years knows what the fuck 112099 is. Myspace already has this "feature" and it sucks and is pointless.
If you get a good one maybe the company will buy it from you at a high price?
hmmm..or a celebrity's name

Just for S&G's, I went through my gmail contacts a few minutes ago. Sure enough, out of nearly 285 contacts, it suggested nearly every one of them to me as a friend.

Keep in mind, I have never ever given them permission or my password to get my contact list from gmail.

it suggests friends based on friends friends.... its not that complicated. If alot of your friends are friends with somebody it'll suggest that person to you

No, something else seems to be up - my wife just said to me "Weird. This lady i used to babysit for was suggested to be my friend - no mutual friends, no idea why"

I don't know how early you guys joined, but "back in the day" they used to have a ridiculously complex visual map of all your friends and how they were connected. They really had it figured out who the people were closest to you (and what people you met other people through). I wouldn't be surprised they've figured out who you'd likely know 2 or 3 connections out.

obviously facebook is doing this because myspace does it and myspace can't have something that facebook doesn't have

True... a friend of mine just got recommended to be friends with TWO of his ex-girlfriends where they have NO mutual friends and he doesn't even have an email or screen name or anything to try to contact them. He said it was freaking him out.

Same here. It showed up that I should be friends with my ex, when none of us have any mutual friends in common, I have no defined screen names or email, etc.

I got mine. I didn't want to do some variation of Firstname.lastname because I don't want to be that easy to find. I also didn't use Kingdox, because try to keep my digital self a bit seperated from my real self.

So I just used a simple 5 letter word that would be easy to remember. Like "unmix".
I miss the map, and the social timeline, and old (2005) Facebook in general.
I agree. :whistle2:(

I just do not like the new profile page. It's too...flat?
I guess I'm the only one that doesn't know 90% of the people on the "People you may know" thing?
I know a few of them...some of the time, but most of the time it usually is comprised of people I don't know.

Well, like I figured, I was too late to get Facebook.com/Danimal. I try to get Danimal as my username on every site I register for, and always have, and I think CAG might be the only place I've ever been able to get it.
