I didn't actually think they'd do colors for systems. They said they'd do differently colored Wiimotes first. Interesting - I wonder if they think this is going to jolt Japan in the arm.

fuck. Now I want a blue one, a black one, and a NES one.

Mario Kart: Animals? People threw a fit about motorcycles (coughDOTHOGcough). But animals? Animals aren't even mechanized, unless you take Dr. Robotnic into question and consideration.

Also I thought 16 player online (or maybe 12?) was "confirmed."

Strange proceedings, odd juju.
 
I'd really like a Famicom/NES Wii.
8 is enough for online, anything is better than 4.

12/16 would have been cool though.

i will probably pick up the NES version. I really should pick up this system, if only for the turbografx games like air zonk and bonk 3. hopefully they add dungeon explorer 2 and beyond shadogate. and there are probably loads of genny games that i missed out on

I'm betting it will be a while before the US gets colored systems. They are still selling much better here.

Also, for the 8 player, is that local or online? Could it be that they mean they are doing something Double-Dash-ish? Perhaps one person controls the Wiimote, the other the nunchuk on a single player? A shitty local 8-player? I know they did something similar to this on Mario Party 7.

I HATE that, in the event I wanted to get a NEW Wii (simply FOR the color/design of it)..I can't transfer my VC games/points. That, however, is another topic. But DAMNIT!

Yes you can.

Multiple people have done this.

It does require sending it to Nintendo, which is a bitch, but it is entirely possible.

Maybe - maybe - the heralding of new colors will jumpstart Nintendo on engineering a way for people to fix this in their own homes.

Oooh that's right! I DO remember hearing that.

I would love to double dip, but if it's going to be a hassle/pain in the ass..then, I guess I'll make do with my white Wii forever :)
 
I wonder how the blue light will look against the other colors, especially the Famicom edition.

It'd be nice if the Wii menu color could be changed to reflect the system color.

As for colors... first get supply to a point where you can buy one at will THEN release the frigging colors.

Although a Famicom Wii would go nicely with my micro...

Man how awsome that would be for new colors, but as said before, its hard enought to get a Wii and now add 4-5 colors to the mix....good luck!

Well glad that this rumor got shot down this quick, instead of all the wii-fanboys/girls going ape shit over it. My guess is chance for bundles late 2008, there's my predictions.
 
Animals ridable!!!! That f-ing rocks. Snaking better not be in this one. But if you can ride a snake or an ostrich thats cool.
 
The Famicom edition sounds tempting...hope we get an NES version here in the states, but doub it.

Is the Wii region free?

Was gonna say the same - they'll wait at least until next Fall for U.S. versions in different colors... Maybe the summer if demand takes a nosedive, but I wouldn't count on that. Though, really, I can't see that happening until 2009. And I would also think they'd start with the remotes and not the systems.

Hopefully the Mario Kart news means GS will offer Mario Kart preorders - I have some old dead preorders I never picked up that I need to switch to something! As for throwing wierd stuff in there, I'm all for it. Nintendo has not disappointed with the first-party stuff for the Wii (especially the titles designed just for the Wii and not old GC projects) so I have confidence it will work, or at least just be an entertaining diversion from the main kart racing game.

Edit: I, too, posted before seeing the report about it being fake. But the Kotaku article only mentions the colors rumor being fake - what about the Mario Kart info? I'm pretty skeptical that Mario Kart would actually come out in February given that SSBB is coming out then. I can't see them dropping those 2 bombshells in the same month (even if they are 3 weeks apart). I really can't see Mario Kart coming before the summer.

I'm inclined to say fake, based on the wiimote photo. It's an old mock up, as most of the text is different on them now and the power button is now round.

That being said, he may actually have the thing, and just put up an old pic he found online not realizing the difference.
 
I'm happy that it's false.
It just doesn't make sense to send our new colors when people are PERFECTLY content hunting down a white one.

I always thought they did this (colors) when the sales started to drop. I guess who knows when that will be...:lol:
