only been less than 6 months and new vegas dropped to $20 new already, did this not sell well compared to FO 3?

Probably not thanks to all the rampant (and ill-informed) postings about the game being riddled with bugs. Bad publicity won't exactly help ignite the sales charts.

It's a shame too because I really enjoyed New Vegas. I thought it was better written than Fallout 3 and I actually cared more about the story this time around. It really didn't have nearly as many problems as the internet would have people believe.

Remember, everyone was waiting a long time for Fallout 3 to be released after Fallout 1 and 2.
It was a true gem and seems that Fallout New Vegas didn't bring anything new besides a new storyline and minor stuff.

Yeah it did. Prior to this Fallout 3 GOTY was the buggiest game I'd ever played. New Vegas was significantly worse. I'd estimate it froze at least twenty times over forty hours or so. Several patches have improved it quite a bit, but it was definitely awful at launch.

I didn't have it freeze a single time over the same time-span. Blogs would have people believe what happened to you happened to everyone, which it didn't. I've worked in the industry as a QA tester, so I suppose I've seen buggier games than most people, New Vegas was in no way as bad as some games I've played. Shit, Risen for 360 has a game-breaking bug that actually prevents the player from being able to complete the game after they've put forty to fifty hours into it. Now that is something to complain about, at least you can recover from the game freezing. It's not like New Vegas' autosave was infrequent or anything.

Only time I had New Vegas freeze was known bugs that if you did certain things in a weird order, the game would lock up whenever you enter the Strip. Game-breaking? Yea. But restarting didn't bother me. I liked New Vegas a lot better myself.

Different people had varying experiences, I had half the problems you did over twice the amount of playing time before I even installed the first patch.

I think a lot of people had problems with glitches; however, I think it's like most things where everyone that had a problem bitched endlessly and everyone that didn't just enjoyed the game and didn't say anything.

Just because you didn't have problems does not mean they weren't there. You got lucky, that doesn't mean it was the norm. It's 100% fair for the reviews and blogs to bitch about them. My friend's game bugged so bad that he had to restart twice, and finally gave up. Is that not worth warning people about?!

I had a problem with getting stuck in VATS and having to restart after watching myself get mauled to death in slow motion and not being able to do anything. That was infuriating. But it's a Bethesda title, and Bethesda titles are buggy as shit. Yes, even Oblivion. I didn't like New Vegas as much as Fallout 3, either, but that's a different discussion.

Thought the game was great. I liked the atmosphere a lot more than D.C. Yeah, it was cool to walk down the street and be like, "Hey, I've been there!" or "Oh, that's recognizable!", but the environment in NV totally fit the post-apocalyptic style. Also, I liked the characters more in NV. So many swindlers, so little time!! The final icing on the cake was the factions. Loved the "We're honorable, but we're not above crucifixion and slavery" ideals of the legion vs. the "Love your government, Die for your government" NCR. Perfect opposition, especially if you have strong morals and principles like myself. It became hard to figure out who to support!!! Definitely a buy if you haven't yet, and I'd say to spring for the CE. It's $29.99 at GS, so no real risk. Plus, it's nice to have an extra deck of cards.

Learn to read. I acknowledged that there are glitches and people had problems with them.

The point is: The game is fun. People wouldn't sink 100's of hours into it if it was so bad. Yes there are glitches, so save often to save yourself a headache.

Warning people is one thing, but every time this game comes up in discussion you have the people swarming in to say how the glitches are game breaking.

Is it not worth warning people about the whiners that think it's the end of the world if they have to reload a recent save a dozen times in a game this long?

God forbid they see the full spectrum of experiences. Do you only read the negative reviews on products?

I wasn't actually adressing you blinding, more so doomstink. That's why I didn't quote your post. I can read just fine though, thanks for being insulting right away! ;)

Clearly not everybody has had problems with it. It's fair to note the large amount that have though (many game breaking, not so trivial as a quick reload). New Vegas is VERY similar to Fallout 3. If people liked that, they'll enjoy this. It is different in the severity of its bugs though. I think that is why they are pointed out so often. That, and it's more fun to bitch about things of course lol

Isn't that a good thing? The price drop of this title is what it needed. At 60 dollars it feels like a rip off to me, but at 20, you can't beat it. I just got this yesterday and know if I spent 60 dollars on it, I would have completely regretted it.

Nobody should buy games right when they come out, we should all spread horrible rumors about games being buggy so they drop to this low of a price! Thats the cheapass in me talkin ha.

I didn't say the bugs didn't exist and the blogs were wrong, but when Kotaku starts crying about how it is the "Buggiest Game Ever Released", that's just ridiculous. It doesn't help that the denizens of the internet jumped to trash the game before many of them even tried it. It wasn't my intention to say that blogs shouldn't warn people about bugs, they just shouldn't blow them absolutely out of proportion.

^Fair enough. Although I think it is the buggiest high profile release in a long time, and possibly of this entire console generation though.
