Famitsu publisher says 67% of Wii owners aren't playing
I never said Nintendo made them ,or did I O_O?
But only Nintendo 1st party games are usually the best!
You said "Nintendo's games out for the Wii..." which would imply Nintendo's ownership of said games, yes.
You said "Nintendo's games out for the Wii..." which would imply Nintendo's ownership of said games, yes.
I see your point, I meant 3rd party developers. Metroid Prime,Zelda,Mario Party 8, Mario Kart,Brawl, Animal Crossing,Warioware they'll do great and bring in most of the money :hot:
Movie games are always multiplatform...
Yes, we know that, but most Wii games are those shitty multiplatform games anyway..

mine still gets a lot of play. i just beat actraiser and still trudgen on in MP3. I beat halo in 2 days so the pause for prime was short. I only own Pime 3 but i still like it. i will only buy the VC games if the oriinal cart is more expensive than what they are offering.

I dont believe the numbers because i have the same questions as mikevermin has. there is no demographic, age, gender, specific locales that they asked this survery. hell they could have asked a bunch of old people at a temple..who knows. I think Wii Fit wil bring alot of the Japanese gamers back..if brawl and galaxy dont succeed first.

Its to each their own here. I love the wii and i dont think ill ever trade it in.

Thats interesting that a system of mostly multiplatform games would release more games total than their two competitors combined in Q4, and with more exclusives:

86 titles will release on Wii in the fourth quarter, compared with 47 for Xbox 360 and 38 for the PS3. Additionally, a quarter of said Wii releases are exclusive to the platform, compared with eight for the Xbox 360 and five for PS3.

Indeed, altough remember the Wii has been having a rash of crapware.

But I think a fair way to determine if this study has legs is to see the current NPD game sales. Either Wii software is moving, or it isnt.

Nintendo already made their money and they don't care.

... atleast for a few years.

The Wii "2" is going to be a challenge if this is the case. Because despite third party "support" only Nintendo titles are selling normally.

Looking at the iffy vgchartz:
MySims EA 116,749
RE 4 Wii 436,119
Carnival Games 122,661
Bleach 38k in It's first week.

Those are the only third party games selling decently. Ubisoft scored at launch with Rayman and Red Steel, but the question is how well their sequels will sell considering they were launch titles. Most EA sports games are bombing pretty hard.

Anyways, my last Wii purchase was RE4 and I enjoyed it throughly. Before that it was Paper Mario. Thats a rather large gap between buying games and looking at vgchartz.com most people aren't buying many wii games either outside of Wii Play.

The next game I got pre-ordered is Umbrella Chronicles. I'm interesting in Soul Calibur Legends, and I got Smash Brothers on pre-order.

There hasnt ever been a generation where 3rd party support wasnt a near perfect reflection of marketshare. There also hasnt ever been a generation with dominant marketshare without wide 3rd party support.

The last post brought up the old 3rd party games dont sell argument. If 3rd party games dont sell, then they move them where they do.

I'm saying that 3rd party games MUST sell in order for a console to maintain superior marketshare. Of course this scenario doesnt conflict if one's view is that the Wii is a fad. Otherwise there is a disconnect between having marketshare but not 3rd party support.

Ehh...I'm starting to get the idea that you're dealing with a tautological argument here. What comes first: the marketshare or the third party support?

The Wii is an interesting scenario because people continue to predict its imminent demise, no matter how much the console continues to sell. Nevertheless, despite the ample amount of third-party software on the system, it appears that many of them are not selling. Of course, the choice between Metroid 3 and...whatever Wii shovelware is an easy one, but why didn't people buy Madden for the Wii? The counter argument is that *good* third-party games do sell, but I don't see much to support that other than Resident Evil 4 (I'm also not convinced that the consumers really can tell the difference between "good" and "bad" games).

So, the Wii is selling like mad at the same time that it seems rumors abound about developers and publishers getting cold feet about the system. It's a strange phenomenon, to be sure. I can't help but think about my belief of the Wii as a "supplementary" console for gamers...but there's little to back that up at this point.

But the US is likely a bit different scenario, seeing as how something like Mario Strikers actually sold well, whereas it bombed in Japan.

Exactly. Can't look at Japan as being the same as the US. Another example being that the Metroid Prime series sold quite well in the US. Japan was uninterested because of the first person aspect and saw it as more of a shooter than a first person exploration game.

I got mine at launch. It's fun that one time a month I have some company to game with me. Overall I'm disappointed with it. Crapware galore!

If I never saw a 360 then I would probably play Wii constantly and think it was the greatest thing ever. I have a 360 and think it blows away the Wii in every respect even though I don't flap my arms to do stuff in whatever game I'm playing. The Wii is always my last choice when I sit to game. There's no excuse for N's crap online experience.

This may or may not be the place to ask:
Does anyone have impressions of Guilty Gear and/or Dewy's Adventure for the Wii? I know the latter was exalted by many as evidence of good 3rd party games coming out, so I'm curious if it's fun at all.

In the case of Guilty Gear, is it any different from previous iterations? How does it use the Wiimote?

Of the handful of people I've heard talk about it, once you get accustomed to the sensitivity of the tilt scheme, it's not bad. Level design and the like appear to be quite good.

I hoped Dewy would be excellent, but I think it was more of the fact that they actually put some effort into it (i.e. it doesn't look like shit) while still being done by the team behind Elebits (i.e. zero budget or weird ideas leading to the appearance of low production values).

For me, the first original third party game (excludes RE4 and MLB Power Pros) since launch that appears to be worth buying is Zack & Wiki, which is altogether really sad since it's been 11 months.
uhm... well I wrote a semi-acceptable review of the PS2 version of AC: http://www.honestgamers.com/systems...abr=PS2&gametitle=Guilty+Gear+XX:+Accent+Core

Only difference between the versions should be that the Wii will have a terrible control scheme available to you in addition to the classic controller scheme.
Gotcha. I don't follow the GG series, particularly because they suffix their titles such that it's hard as hell to find out which is the most recent if you don't have a functioning awareness of the series. So, I didn't know it appeared elsewhere first. Thanks.

I'm not suprised at all. I'm in the majority on this statistic.

I will, however, definitely be playing Super Mario Galaxy. And I would be playing Metroid and Paper Mario if it weren't for my student's lack of time and money.

It's very true. Once 2010-2012 comes around and it's time to start leaking info about the next console, Nintendo and Wii will be in for a world of hurt. The Wii gamers will start to ponder about what games they want for next gen, new interactivity, and *GASP!* better graphics. Reggie Fils-Aime, you are a good speaker. Start sending out your resume to prospective employers NOW!

I rented Dewey's with a rent on get one at Hollywood. It plays out a lot like the old Marble madness. It actually looks and felt like it would be fun. Retail is what $50 or even $40 I personally feel is too high for the game. I never got into the multi player (I am almost positive thats in the game).

If it released new at $30 it would probably be worth it and at $20 or less I would pick it up. I think Zack and Wiki will be a better game overall.
