Why would anyone want to read comic books on their computer? I'm a huge FF fan, and the movie was awful. They totally changed the origin of Dr. Doom from the comics where he was a son of a European gypsy.

Not going to pass judgment until I see it, but word is the 3rd one may be a stinker. They were forced to rush through production; not sure what the reason was but they did not get to put the time into it they wanted.

It's gonna end up sucking most likely cause Brett Ratner is changing everything he can think of about the X-Men universe in order to please himself. People who shouldn't ever die are going to die, people are going to lose their powers who should never lose their powers, and two characters who should never become a couple will in it. From everything I've heard, his choices for all of these are horrible. He's throwing in characters he's creating on the spot instead of putting characters like Gambit in. All in all I am not too anxious to see X3 and I'm a huge X-Men fan and loved X-Men and X2.

um, he's not directing the 3rd x-men. i think he has a producer credit, but for the most part, he's too busy workin on the new superman......

Brett Ratner is directing X-Men 3. He has nothing to do with Superman Returns. Bryan Singer is directing Superman Returns.

Also, I agree. Brett will probably fuck up this movie. It takes a lot to get me to hate someone, but I have Brett Ratner. He's a lowlife, talentless scumbag who doesn't deserve to be a film director.

Also, about this 4-disc set. I'm still wondering what's in it. What they should do is give the fans what they want and finally... and officially... release that horrible 1994 Fantastic Four movie in this set.
 
Wow so much negative shit for this movie.
Ok the movie wasn't mind blowing but we are talking FF here not Oscar material.

The movie was FUN, plain and simple

I heard a little kid yelling "Flame On" skipping with his dad out in the parking lot after the movie.

What else can you ask for. It almost put a tear to me eye. I loved the FF growing up and I'm just happy that I even got to see the damn thing hit the light of day.

I will be buying this BB exclusive set. This new trend of BB exclusives I think will become hard to find, the ultimate version of each release, and command more $$ on the back market.

The BB exclusive Tommy Boy set doesn't exsist at BB around me anymore and I had a shot to get it for 15. Can't get it for any less than 25 now.
 
Yeah the movie was junk. It belongs in the Marvel trash pile along with Daredevil. It was not fun. It was not good. At all.

That being said I'll probably still end up getting it somewhere along the line. I have Daredevil after all. Stan Lee has me by the balls more than even George Lucas.
 
I read the script review a while back of X3.... they kill of main characters in the most cheesy ways.

I seriously hope they revised the script before they release it...

Yeah, even though I trashed it a few posts up I'm still picking this up on Tuesday. It would be a crime against my comic-loving family if I didn't.
 
Picked it up today. The stand is made out of paperboard, glossy, and feels like it could tip over at any moment. The discs are stored in a tin, the comic CD-ROM has no protection facing the soft-plastic wrapper of the metal round cards. The movie disc is stored facing down into one of those foam padding things.

If you don't plan on picking up the 44 Years of Fantastic Four DVD-ROM, and don't mind that your discs are pretty much just flying around inside the tin, pick this up.

If you are going to get the 44 Years, you might want to skip this, as the 44 Years contains every single FF comic, annual, articles, etc ever released. The Widescreen DVD version contains all the extras (sans round cards, cd-rom of comics and the annual reprint) for $15-20 less.

Overall, Best Buy ripped us off yet again, tricking us into thinking we were getting something awesome for a premium price instead of this cash-in.

I would have been much happer had the stand been made of hard plastic instead of folding paperboard.

Also, it's not four discs. It's two... the widescreen DVD and the comic CD-ROM.

When you say it has all of the comics, is it just the covers or are they in scans or form that can be read? If they have the full content, it will be owrth grabbing for that alone.

Full comics. The entire Ultimate Fantastic Four.. something like 23 comics plus an annual. They're in PDF. BUT. If you are REALLY serious about reading FF, you should just pick up the standard DVD and this:

i for one was very dissappointed in this so called boxset...in the ad it had said 3 discs which of course is not right...and the extras just werent worth the extra $15 for it...but oh well maybe in the future it will be worth something since it was a bestbuy exclusive and the majority of them will probably be destroyed due to lack of sales;)

Thanks for the info. I am getting some rewards certificates so I am kind of stuck with BB. I am really only interested in the Ultimates. That came after my comic book collecting years.
 
Does anybody have any info on the Walmart Exclusive FF 2 pack? I had a friend who wanted to pick one up, but never got around to it. Now they're sold out at all the Walmarts in the Bay Area. Supposedly, the 2nd disc is the 'making of' , but there's no way to really tell, unless you have the disc in your posession.

I bought the Wal-Mart 2-disc version a few weeks ago. I then visited my parents over the Christmas weekend and decided, since he's really the bigger FF fan, that I'd give it to my dad as part of his Christmas stuff.

(When I first got into comics in the early 1980s my dad started collecting some stuff as well. A couple of years later he switched over to baseball cards and I stuck with comics. The only series of back issues he's kept over the years is his FFs. I now buy the FFs--including the spin-off series such as Marvel Knights 4, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Thing, and most of the minis in addition to the main Fantastic Four series--read them, and then pass them on to him to keep.)

Anyway, back to the Wal-Mart DVD set. Before giving it to my dad, I watched all of the extras on the movie DVD (the same one you can get by itself pretty much every where) and the second disc. What's on the second disc is a single 50 minute feature showing behind the scenes stuff (filming, character spotlights, comments from the actors, director, producers, Stan Lee, etc.).

The nice thing about the Wal-Mart 2-pack is that--while you can find it--it's priced the same as the single movie DVD. That's what made me decide to buy it initially when I'd been planning on waiting to get the FF movie DVD. Then again, it's already been mentioned that there will be a special edition DVD release next year. I'm kind of wondering if that special edition might end up including the behind the scenes feature that right now is only part of the Wal-Mart 2-disc set.

Actually, I believe that the 44 Years of Fantastic Four DVD set only contains "every single FF comic, annual, [etc.]" from the main Fantastic Four title, not all of the spin-off titles such as Ultimate Fantastic Four.

Here's a bit of the description of the DVD's contents as advertised over on Tales of Wonder's site:

"[...] this collection spans Fantastic Four #1 (November 1961) through Fantastic Four #520 (December 2004), and includes more than 30 years of “Annual” issues as well!"

I don't know if I'd call it a "rip off". You do apparently get a kind of nice package (container, display) and 24 issues of Ultimate FF on DVD (plus a few other goodies such as the reprint comic and the cards). As someone said earlier, if one doesn't have the Ultimate FF issues already it might be worth the extra $10.
