Far Cry 2 (360) 14.98 - Amazon DotD

I thought the level of immersion in this game was amazing. The guns were great; the FIRE was AMAZING! The graphics are phenomenal and the gameplay is pretty good; for the most part. The issues have been mentioned above; horrifically shitty save system; respawning baddies you just killed 6 minutes prior; hella long distances to travel; etc.

I truly had a love/hate relationship with this game; I could play it for hours and hours one day; then contemplate selling it the next. I ended up selling it for decent amount and will probably try picking it up again to finish the story (achievement whoring) one day; but I've wasted enough time for now.

If you have $15 to spare; this game is worth it simply for the FIRE effects. Also, if you have a lot of time and even more patience, this game is definitely worth picking up; but the first time you die and the save system screws you; you'll probably regret your purchase.

It's too bad they didn't do REAL play testing before releasing this, and take out the annoying stuff. They would have sold more copies.

I read some interview with a producer if I'm remembering right, who I *think* admitted they didn't realize what a problem some of the stuff was. (I wonder if their Q&A department is allowed to tell them...uh, this isn't fun...I bet they're not, or that they wouldn't get listened to.)

This past week has only had 360 versions of games. Where are the ps3 versions of these games??? I would've snagged star wars maybe juarez.

I'm just amazed they've had real games for once. Sooooo many Mary Kate and Ashley game disc holder for Wii type products :whistle2:/

And then we get Call of Juarez, The Force Unleashed, and Farcry 2! Having all three current-gen platforms would be cool for them (well, Force Unleashed isn't out on PC yet), but at least they're real games!

I never, EVER, EVER (except once :D ) get any of those deals at Target. I've quit even trying.

The ONE exception I've ever had was I got Sins of the Solar Empire for just $20 a while back, which was pretty cool.

To those of you on the fence...

BUY IT. YES, its that good. Especially at this price, its a steal.

Your always going to have people who complain about things on the net, off the net, in magazines. Its either too easy or too hard blah blah blah. Never happy.

The respawns? So what? Its supposed to be a FPS. If you want to NOT shoot people 24/7 go play sports games.

Save system? I thought it was awesome that you couldnt save 24/7 so that way you had to THINK about how your going to attack a compound rather than just go in like a dummy and get killed. Samething goes when your out comming back from a mission and you know your heals are low, and your a long ways off from your hideout, so now you must THINK, use your map wisely, and be extra careful because you dont know if that next turn down the road will have a roaming car comming your way with two guys ready to kill you. If your on your feet, you must becareful you dont run into some roaming guards behind that next bush. The game keeps you on your toes that way.

In fact in the 30+ hours I've been in the bush I have only gotten zapped once because the other few times, my buddy has been there to save my butt and at that point I've been able to recover, and with my buddies help (since your buddy sticks around right after they save you), wipe out the enemy.

I have been on it now for over 30 hours and am having a blast like not many games (and I am an old 80s gamer so I've got experience) have given me.

Long distances? Man I bought this game because of that! I wanted a HUGE world to play in and not some little claustrophobic area or levels which force you to go down one path only with little to no exploration.

Sure, its got its little things here and there that might be considered annoying by some, but so does every game.

I don't know about you, but games can very easily keep me on my toes WITHOUT costing me several hours of progress for a slip up or an instant kill.

That said, Far Cry 2 is very much like Stalker. They both have the same strengths... unbeatable atmosphere, and the same weaknesses... hilariously unrealistic enemy spawns. Personally, I thought FC2 was the better game simply because the gun play was actually decent in FC2.

FC2 really comes down to... Did you like Assassin's Creed despite its faults? Stalker despite its faults? Then you can understand the breadth of what FC2 tries to deliver AND the massive failures that plague it. I don't know whether one averages out to beat the other, because I am a giant sandbox game fetishist and so enjoyed exploring FC2 even though the exploration was just about as pathetic as Stalker's was.

Huh...that comparison to Stalker is intriguing. I bought Stalker years ago, and it sounds pretty cool, so....

Wow...I was a fan of the first Far Cry and I really got excited about this. Now after reading all the posts, I'm not so sure what to think now.

By the way, Its no longer $14.98.
Not too bad a deal....but I got mine for $5 at the HV sale. ;)
You may have stolen mine you sicko! I was looking for that for a week and a half but couldn't find it!:bomb::bomb::bomb:

Anyway, not a bad deal, but I already bought too much during the $5.00 HWV sale and some recent games.
Oh they will :D If you're doing missions for the gun-dealer, or any other mission, you occasionally have to travel to the whole opposite point of the map that you may be at during the time being.

I enjoyed the gunplay and physics, but the game just seemed so long. I might think of rebuying it, but idk
Agreed.

Wow how did I miss this all day. This is the only game from last year I still want to buy and would have done so for 20 new. I rented it a month ago and realized it would take far too long to get into with just renting.

If you're the type of gamer that likes perfection, total realism, and cant forgive a game some fairly big flaws. You will hate this game.
If you can accept the flaws as part of the gameplay and just look past it, this is a pretty excellent game. Graphics are amazing, combat is reasonably challenging, effects are good. Its not the type of game you can play for 10 hours straight. Its the kind of game you play for a couple of hours, put down when it starts to grate on your nerves a bit. Then come back to when the itch strikes.

Guys, if you missed it on Amazon, you MIGHT still be able to get a decent deal on Bestbuy.com-at least I bought it that way earlier in the week, and just got it (and Watchmen) today. Wasn't the best way to do it, but oh well, decent enough price.
I have farcry 2 and i really dont think its even worth the 15 dollars.

75 % of the time you are driving around in a car for 5 to 10 minutes you get out kill someone then do it again. It is fun for a little while but i just got sick of it at a certain point.

60 % completion i couldn't take it anymore.

The actually shooter game play is good but most of the time you will either be driving to and from a bus stop or driving to and from the city's.
With some kind of fast transport the game would be 100 times better.

Bought it on steam when it was $25 not worth it imo
i would like to take the time to co-sign to much driving 4 my taste other than that great game and visuals

I bought it for about 30-40 bucks last year. It was fun at first but then I put it down for a few months to play Killzone2 and Rock Band2. When I went back to it I was lost. People would not stop shooting at me and I had a very long drive to my next destination where ever the hell it was. Never should have stopped playing. It could have been a better game had it not been for the AI.

I just traded it in to Amazon for (12?) I think so I could get that 30 dollar bonus to put towards Heavy Rain.
