Far Cry on 360 vs the PC.. how does it stack?

CAGiversary!
I'm getting a little confused reading reviews of FarCry on the XBOX360. They keep making reference to semi-blocky models and crappy AI as well as linearity. I'm not seeing a clear cut answer though: how does it stack compared to the PC version?

I played this on the PC a few years back and loved it. My housemate/friend just got a new XBOX360 and he's just getting into FPS and gun games and he asked me to recommend something (he already has GoW).

Is the 360 version actually worse than a three year old game? The AI and the linearity are more what I am concerned about.

I ask, primarily, because I read numerous reviews of the Wii version and it sounds like a pile.

Two completely seperate games.. the console version throws in feral abilities and whatnot.

Far Cry 360 is actually the first two Far Cry games on XBox mashed into one game. No, it's not crappy at all. It's more linear than the PC version, but that's not to say it's bad, because it's not. I personally think it's fantastic.

The Wii version is indeed crap, though.

The Xbox and 360 versions are far worse. The games weren't developed by the same teams, so they're drastically different. Far Cry on the PC did have fantastic AI, huge environments, and excellent graphics... and it still holds up extremely well. But yeah, the 360 version... definitely not the same game and definitely not as good.

Yea, I'm only interested in the 360 version right now.

Hm, see from above (and tx to those who posted) this is what I was afraid of. For me, what I enjoyed most about the game was those open-ended levels. For instance, level one, where you see the huge boat and you go "??" how am I supposed to get on that boat. There are a dozen different ways you could accomplish it.

If it's been gimped into an "on-rails" shooter I think I'll pass on my recommendation.

..except there was only one way to get in, and that's through the hole at the bottom.

i have it, and the game is a glitch fest..on several occassions I have had to restart the game due to corrupt save files

Yeah, but for most situations, there were a lot of different ways to get where you needed to go. And it's not like all those paths played out the same way... sometimes you'd use a vehicle, some paths were better for stealth, etc.

But how you get to the boat is the interesting part (ok, keep in mind for an FPS, of course.)

fixed up his quote so you understand it a little more. That was the farcry 360 thread after all...a few more posters also mention the PC version as well.
I've had this game now(the 360 version) for a while since I loooooved the PC and Xbox version and it is my favorite FPS, but lately all it's done is collect dust.
The 360 version looks good and I really wanted to like it, but those controls are just fucked. The aiming is so laggy, you have to rely on autoaim so much, and it sucks all the fun out of the game.

Other than the controls constantly pissing you off, it's a good game.

I actually liked the controls for the Wii version a lot better than the 360 version. Too bad the rest of the game sucked.
