Who is your favorite Food Network Chef? Listed in Alpha order with Emeril first since blank comes before 'A'.

For this poll 'chef' is defined as someone who has their own show on the channel in which they prepare food.

I voted Tyler, I think he's the only "normal" person working there the rest are mentally challenged especially that rusted chainsaw sounding man-beaver known as Rachel Ray

Which one is the older lady with grey hair and a southern accent? I'd choose her if I knew her name. Anti-props to the guy with blond spiky hair on the latest Dives and Diners show.

^ Paula Deen
Emerial gets blank because his last name of Legassi we're ignoring or.... what?
Correct. Honestly though he's the one that is most recognizable by first name only.

I can only do 10, but I forgot about Giada. I'd probably put her in ahead of Sandra Lee.

Emeril - Still using the same 5 jokes 10 years later
Mario Batali - Pedophile
Alton Brown - Smart, funny, creative (my vote)
Paula Deen - Southern charm wearing thin
Bobby Flay - Talentless prick, should be shot
Tyler Florence - Works for Applebees
Nigella Lawson - Her show is called "Nigella Bites". How appropriate.
Sandra Lee - No talent. "Go buy some oreos, and then open them!"
Sara Moulton - No friends, I feel bad for her
Rachel Ray - Goofy and likable, but a total slut

You left off a bunch. Ina Garten is a total snob, but she's really fun to watch. Giada DeLorentis isn't bad, but she has a really weird smile. The girl from "Healthy Appetite" is surprisingly good and watchable.

Hey, George Duran and Guy Fieti are missing from the poll!

I guess I'll have to take Alton for the fill-in.

Giada used to be alright... til she decided to emulate Rachel Ray. Uff. I absolutely want to punch her in the neck when she starts randomly throwing Italian accents on words.

Ina is the Barefoot Contessa, right? Yeah I would have put her in ahead of Sandra as well. (Although truthfully I wanted to include Sandra just to see if she'd get a vote.)

Personally I can't stand Giada, but she didn't come to mind when I was making the list. (And again 10 slots only.)

Alton without question.

On the subject of Rachel Ray (as previously said in the OTT):

RACHEL RAY WORKS IN MY KITCHEN, HERE IS A PICTURE OF HER IN ACTION:

Oh yeah baby. Look at them buttons. Makes me want to push 'em.

I like Alton's show.

But Mario is the best cook they have. Plus me being a fat guy with red hair, I have to stand up for my fellow fat guys with red hair.

Says you, Olive boy.

No love for Sara :whistle2:(

These days she's hardly on. I think her show airs during the day or something. But she used to have an hour long live show where she'd prepare dinner and you could follow along at home. Never actually followed along, but it was fun to watch.

Another cast related question.. this guy was on last week I believe and he did an all salad dinner followed by a fruit wine in which he put fruit into the glasses. He was doing it for some friends that were coming over, and he got all his stuff from a private garden outside his house. Ring a bell with anyone? If it does I'd like to know his name.

Michael Chiarello

alton brown is the only one who doesnt annoy the hell out of me. i like his show because you learn alot of things about food youd never know otherwise and is cool the way he can figure out how to create anything youd normally buy or pay for at home. and hes got alot of cool gadgets. id bang rachel ray while paula deen watches but eh none of th eothers are that interesting.

oh yeah and sandra dee is pretty cool too i have alot of respect for her after seeing that show about her life growing up. she comes of prissy but shes old school and a hard worker and a self made millionare.

my favorite non food network chef is anthony bordain and my favorite iron chef is hiroyuki sakai.

Alton. He has the best personallity, plus his show is entertaining in that it gives an example of several things to cook while integrating science and comedy. There's just more to the show than him standing behind a kitchen island and acting like he's preparing food, even though it's already made and warming in an oven a few feet away. Rachel and Emeril are the most guilty of that dumb bullshit.

I'll vote for Alton, even though sometimes he's a little annoying.

Based on Food Network, I barely see Bobby Flay as a chef. He's more like the Oprah of food. My favorite Food Network moment ever, though, was on one of his early shows when he actually cooked and had a sidekick, Jackie.

He's making some recipe, and Jackie chimes in. "So, Bobby...if you don't have oranges, can you substitute...apples?" In this case, it was a really stupid question because the recipe depended on having a fruit with acid. It was well intentioned, but really dumb if you thought about it for even a second.

Bobby looks at her for a minute. "Well yeah, Jackie...you could do that [if you're a completely incompetent moron]...subsituting with lemons or limes...[how can I save this without calling you an idiot to your face]...or other ingredients that make sense for the recipe [like NOT apples]"

T.V. gold.

The actual details of the incident may be slightly different. It's become a catchphrase in our house whenever we don't have exactly the right item. "So, Bobby...can you substitute...watermelons? Chick peas? Cat hair?"

Wow, didn't know cagers were avid Food Network viewers!!

AB gets my vote - come on!
he has a drill/pepper dispenser... can't get anymore innovative than that!!

I really like to watch Alton Brown. My wife watches Food Network all the time so I see more than I want to of the other shows. I did like $40 dollars a day with Rachel Ray since you would see where to eat when traveling.

Alton Brown's feasting on Asphalt series will be back on in August. Last years was really good.

My girlfriend loves FN, and I've grown to like it as well. Alton's show is hilarious, informative, and actually entertaining. I can't watch "Semi-Homemade" without wanting to punch the host (Sandra Lee?) for matching EVERY DAMN THING TO THE THEME.

I'd like to add two votes for Giada's exceptional rack as well. Mama mia!

qfmft!

my favorite is George Duran. not only are his recipes awesome and easy, the comedic value of "Ham on the Street" (aka HoTS) is far past what most would expect from the Food Network (unless you're watching Bobby Flay get spanked on Throwdown)
Yum-O!
^^ haha nice.
I wonder if Rachel will get any bonus points for officially putting EVOO in Webster's Dictionary.

Alton Brown, most definately. Even if there is something else I want to watch on TV, I'm trapped if I flip channels and happen to briefly stop on Food Network and I see he's on. Sometimes I think he could do well on Discovery Channel, for all his science stuff.

Lets see...

Emeril-Really annoying on his live show because he has to show off for the crowd with something that got laughs 8 years ago. Pretty good chef though.

Mario Batali-Talks entirely too much. Also pretty good chef.

Alton Brown-Ah, what hasn't already been said. His is the only show where the host isn't just reiterating recipes. He goes into technique, history, ingredients. Wonderful.

Paula Deen-I love Paula Deen, only because she's the kind of chef that will add butter to anything.

Bobby Flay-Flay's an asshole, but he does know what he's doing.

Tyler Florence-Mediocraty in Chef form.

Nigella Lawson-Kind of cute, but her show is a lame rip off of Giada's

Sandra Lee- Umm, she has nice boobies, which I also think are fake, not unlike her recipes.

Sara Moulton-Now she's a great chef. Her biggest problem, is that she can't cook and talk at the same time. This makes watching her show annoying at best, and unwatchable at worst.

Rachel Ray-The less said the better. Her shows aren't horrible, I'm just sick of her.

Watching the food network is like watching porn for your stomach.

I wonder if in third-world countries they watch the food network like its the playboy channel? (ok, I stole that, from I don't remember where)

I know I'll get hated for this, but YOU ARE AN IDIOT! How could you forget the beautiful Giada De Laurentiis? Sorry, I think she is the best hands down.

Bobby Flay having 6 votes makes me want to go out and punch people.

Kind of surprised that Emeril has 0. Is everybody sick of him? Maybe he caters to the older crowd.

Poor Sara Moulton...

Hmmm this is a tough one to answer. For the actual food and recipes it would have to be Paula Deen and Tyler Florence but for *ahem* watching, its Rachel Rae and Sandra Lee :)

You win. I like Alton for reasons others have mentioned, but the rest of the network is pretty much comprised of visually attractive people who help you feel successful by making the most milquetoast, easily built recipes out there. Sandra Lee needs to be drawn and quartered, at least if she's going to remain on TV. I figure it's the only way she could possibly be entertaining.

I also really resent Giada, despite her being one of the better chefs on the channel. It's simply because her being on the network was redundant b/c of "Molto Mario," so they axed the fatty's show, instead letting her Natalie Portman as a Bobblehead-lookin' ass flop all over the screen. A classic case of "hey, she's hot, give her a show!"

My vote went to Alton Brown. He really is the best on the network.

I also like Ina Garten - she makes a lot of delicious-looking food, and even though she's such a snob, I enjoy her show. Giada is watchable as well. I just hate when she has all her friends over and she explains how each dish was made. It's so unnatural.

I used to be big on Rachel Ray, but not so much anymore. I'll watch if she's on, cuz she does make some good dishes, but she's just so much more wackier now than when she first started. Which is good in a way, she's much more established and can just be herself on her show.

Could never get into Emeril.

Hate Bobby Flay. He's a no talent jerkoff and I often wonder who he's paying to have his 50 different grilling shows every year. Tyler is run-of-the-mill, no interest there. I didn't like how he took over that How to Boil Water show and he doesn't let the co-host help at all. Now she just sits drinking coffee and asking questions. At least the French dude before let her do some cooking.

Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello is another show I have to change the channel. Something about him just grates on me, and I can't watch his show.

As you may or may not tell Food Network is probably the network I watch the most, with Discovery and Travel channels the runners-up.

I love Anthony Bordain and I miss the hell out of the original Iron Chef (especially Sakai!). It disappoints me to no end that they don't even air the original IC anymore. The new one sucks, though it had so much potential. And Bourdain is just an awesome host - easy to watch, funny, interesting guy. He's not annoying at all, and he's respectful to whatever culture he is in.

I hate the hosts that visit different countries and when they try something that we aren't used to seeing over here, they act all "omg I can't believe I'm eating this!", while Bourdain can't wait to try it and talks about its importance in the culture and stuff.

First comment about one of the choices not being a real chef. I guess my disclaimer pretty much worked.

The N. Korean version of The Daily Show closes each day with 'And now, your moment of food!'

Giada gets my vote but she's not on the poll. Technically, Rachel Ray isn't a "chef", she never graduated from a culinary school. That's why you never see her wear the chefs uniform. Still she's a great cooker and foodtv personality.
