Some games out there have amazing soundtracks. I'm just curious as to which you guys love.

There's a few I love to listen to, thanks to Zophar and his game music archive (just download the plugin for whatever extension, for example.. SNES music uses .spc extentions, so get the SPC plugin for winamp.. its linked on his site).. anyway, here are a few of my favorites:

Final Fantasy IV (2 on the SNES) - Boss theme, Zeromus (Final boss battle), Lunar (plays when you're on the moon)

Illusion of Gaia - Legacy of Ancients (plays as the ghost ship is coming into the light)

Super Mario World - Some random theme (minus the beats because he's on Yoshi)

Super Mario RPG - Battle with Culex, which is a revision of the boss theme from Final Fantasy 2.

Parasite Eve - Main Theme

Pilotwings 64 - Hang glider theme and "Birdman"

Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time - Gerudo Valley and Zora's domain

I'm missing a few, i'll edit/post more in a bit.

Final Fantasy III (VI) - Opening Theme, The Opera Piece
Final Fantasy VII - One Winged Angel
Final Fantasy VIII - Eyes on Me (Sure as hell makes no sense, but it's pretty and I like the singer Wong Fei)
Kingdom Hearts - Hikari
Kingdom Hearts II - Passion
Metal Gear Solid 3 - Opening Theme
Shenmue II - Closing Credits

That's just off the top of my head.
 
Megaman 2 opening theme. Hell there's a lot of great NES Megaman music, but the opening to 2 is the best.

Lots of stuff from the Xenosagas, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy(Crystal Theme especially). fucking love the Kingdom Hearts 2 theme song Passion.

The Zelda theme, and the "just got new item out of a chest" music.
 
I like several of the songs from Jet Set Radio. Then there's the Megaman 3 soundtrack which rocks tits. The Quest for Glory soundtrack is also pretty damn great. Especially Erana's Peace. Then hmmmm... Pirates!
 
I always liked the song on the original gameboy tetris. Im not sure what its called or anything. The default song I guess. It was the first song that popped in my head when I thought of game songs.
Oh I like the Donkey Konga Theme 2 song alot. If thats the right one. The one thats like "don-key Kong-a bum bum bum. Don-key Kong-a"
And please dont tell me how stupid it is to type that out. I already know.

Agreed. If I had to pick one song, that would be it.
 
Also add the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Theme Song. I love the line "Some days, you go, through the rain. Some days, you feed, on a tree frog!"

:rofl: I laugh every time I hear that and the song itself is so Bondish.

We should take these songs and make CAG soundtracks to download.. i'm sure we'd get in all sorts of legal trouble though :(

I'd be willing to make the soundtracks, it could be a weekly thing, that'd be awesome!
 
I would have to say MGS3 Theme, and then as my number one, The theme to Gerudo Valley in Oot, simply amazing, although Video game music has gotten so good these days and I guess has been one of those things that really attracted me to games with CT and Earthbound.

The first Wily stage in Mega Man 2. A lot of great remixers have taken that tune and done great things with it as well.

That song was cool enough to be the first dance at my weding. However, I shortened it to around 5 minutes, and it was still longer than it should've been.

I love the piano collections from the Final Fantasy series.

Does anyone know of a way to convert SPC files to MP3s/something that will play on an MP3 player?

Yeah, using Winamp, go to options > preferences, choose output and choose nullsoft disk writer. It'll convert it to WAV. From there, just use a WMV to MP3 converter.

I am gonna do a mix CD of these themes, maybe I can get it posted.. who knows.

Jolly Roger Bay is another one of my favorites. I remember taking an old tape recorder back when it first came out to record that theme, I loved it. The name of the track is actually called "Dire, Dire Docks"
 
If anything, I like shmup soundtracks--Namiki Manabu in particular.

I've been playing Imperishable Night recently and some of the tracks are annoying, yet haunting at the same time.

I dunno, overall I tend to enjoy anime soundtracks more than game music since most of it is meant strictly as BG and I start tuning that out after a while.

Seconded. Also, Crash Man's stage from Mega Man 2. And both have incredibly cool covers done by the Neskimos.
 
I would have to say one of my favorites would be the redwings theme from final fantasy IV (it's the opening theme)
 
Tetris - Main Theme
Tetris DS - The Balloon Theme(Touch mode) I have that as my ringtone

Kingdom Hearts - Night of Fate

Phoenix Wright - The song where they come to the "ah-HA!" moment in the courtroom, and the other song where the witness is about to get their ass busted. And of course, the Steel Samurai Theme.

Kirby Canvas Curse - Opening theme. For some reason it reminds me of Zelda's fairy's Fountain.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children - One Winged Angel

Super Mario 64 - Pretty much the whole soundtrack. Ever since I heard it done live, it's been one of my favorite soundtracks EVAR.
 
i love alot fo the songs in mega man 3 and the songs in parappa the rapper 1 and umjammer lammy are still cool to listen too. that jamaican song in parappa i humm every now and then and the final board song in um jammer lammy was amazing as well as that one song before that.
 
there is no way anything can top Rave On from Killer 7... nothing:
