Favorite instruction manual of all time?

Chrono Trigger. It's such a great bathroom read. It's really the only thing that keeps me from selling the cart version.

The one from WarioWare for the GBA, it had games and stickers, best manual I ever owned. The folks who pirated the game even got angy that they missed out on the manual.

I dont know about the best but the funniest one is wwe day of reckoing it is only 9 pages and I think 5 are all legal info and credits.
I like the Lunar manuals (books rather), very nice.
Yeah, anyone who says different manuals clearly has never seen the manuals for Lunar and Lunar 2. And you should. BEST....GAME....EVER!

I don't know about the best..............
But the manual to Steel Battalion was very nice it looked like a military manual!!

The original Flight Simulator manual.. all 200+ pages of the goddamn thing and the Steel Batallion manual were excellent. But, and old text adventure game - Amnesia had probably the best written instruction manual, it was an excellent read as a short story, not just as a manual.

And the Lunar books are neat, but not necessarily great manuals. Being hardbound doesn't make them excellent.

The older Castlevania manual, for the nintendo and super nintendo, they tried not to take the series to seriously and regulary joked about returning to castle everytime and the names of some monsters, Mr. Hed anyone? There is a great Castlevania site I'll find the link to later where they do a paraody of the manuals.

-I second Sim City for SNES.

-Donkey Kong Country (SNES) and Donkey Kong 64. Cranky's comments are funny. For some reason, the manual for DKC 3 was devoid of Cranky's comments. Haven't read the manual for DKC 2.

-Zelda LTTP (SNES).

-GTA III

-GTA Vice City.

Fools! The Earthbound instruction guide is the clear chhoice. It was one of the most well arranged and enjoyable strategy guides I can remember! True classic!

I'm probably alone here, but I liked RC Stunt Copter's manual, mainly for the jokes. For example, on page one after the "Table of Contents" there's a "Content of Tables", which then lists "1. Sticks 2. Nails 3. A Flat Surface."

Still not impressed? The first entry under "Startup Information" is "1. Evolve into a society-based bipedal creature with opposable thumbs."

I'll leave the rest of the gags for those of you lucky enough to chase down a complete copy.

Your opinions scare me some times. I think it and see it posted next to a picture of Taylor Rain.

Harvest Moon: Back to Nature's manual was an essential read for learning how to play correctly and planning ahead (it had calendars for the months and showed special events, birthdays, etc.). Great game too.

I remember this old game from Microprose called Darklands. It was based in a Midieval world that was was based in reality wirth fantasy based on real mythology.

The manual had a cool listing of all the saints of the day and other info about the Catholic Church.
