feature request: topical photo

I use iTunes to listen to my podcast. I am talking about the small window in the bottom left where you place the CAG logo. I notice that the engadget podcast updates that image to be a picture of the topic they are currently talking about. You can then click on the image, and it takes you to the article which inspired the discussion. It may sound gimmicky, but it is actually really handy, if you haven't heard the back story yet.

I am not sure how much extra work this would be for you, but it definitely adds an extra layer of polish. (BTW - CAGcast has _way_ more polish already than most of the shit out there).

Disclaimer: I haven't listened to the engadget podcast in 3 months, so I am not sure if they are still doing this.

Edit - just listened to PODcast. Congrats on the baby man. You may want to hire some help with the website... I had a son while I was in 3rd year uni, taking full load. They can not entertain themselves for a 1~2 years... mind you my son was a better Crazy Taxi player than me by age two . I can imagine what your parents think. I moved across continent our parents, and not a day goes by that we don't get grief for not having our grand children closer. Again congrats dude.

That's actually a different type of file called an AAC. While I believe it is the superior format for podcasting because of the images and the chapter abilities, it's not as universally accepted as MP3. During the beta version of the CAG Foreplay podcast we had an AAC version that would show the box art of each game we were talking about and then link to the cheapest place to buy the game.

It's actually very easy to set up that way, but then you have to offer both the MP3 format and the AAC format which leads to multiple RSS feeds and double the amount of hosting storage that you are paying for.

Yeah I figured that mp3 wouldn't support it. I figured it wouldn't be much more bandwidth, as people would either download the .m4a or the .mp3. I hadn't thought about the RSS part. Could you make two seperate feeds, a mp3 and a m4a one. Assuming that people would only subscribe to one or the other, the bandwidth really wouldn't be much more?
