FF XIII FMV's 720p on 360, 1080p on PS3. Does it make a difference on system choice?

I have both systems and will be getting it for the PS3 for the obvious reasons: it's the superior version, even if only marginally.

Sadly, like one person said, I prefer achievements over trophies, but I refuse to let that one thing dictate my system... and hey, if I end up really loving the game and wanting the achievement points, I'll just pick up a 360 copy down the road when it's budget-y. =)

I'm surprised the wars are not as strong here. Oh, well.

360 version runs at 576p in FMV's as well, not 720p as originally thought

If you're getting FFXIII for Achievements or Trophies, you're a ______ whore, depending on which one you got it. There's no turning back because RPG's aren't friendly to Achievement/Trophy hunters.

I'm getting it for PS3 for one main reason, a single disc. Not that I dislike multidisc games, just that there's 3 of us living here that are going to be playing it, so it's more convenient this way

My 360 just died a couple of days ago and so I went ahead and got the FFXIII bundle. I was torn, before, between what I thought would be a higher quality *product* (on my PS3) and a higher quality *experience* (on my 360). In the end, the unfortunate reliability of 360 hardware helped make the decision. Also, for the sake of preventing offense, when I speak of "experience," I'm only saying that I prefer playing games on my 360; it's just a personal preference/comfort thing.
this generation has brought the most ridiculous fucking nitpicking ever to grace this industry
There's an immediately noticeable difference in the textures & resolution. Why not find out what the differences are and make an informed choice? I figure if the game is going to look worse and possibly sound worse, and I don't have to take perfect care of my PS3 disc so I can resell it without any degradation I am better off. I hate losing money because my disc is scratched or even worse off dealing with someone anal about the disc condition when selling causing more problems.
This is the easiest decision ever for a multi-platform game, PS3. IMO, playing FF on a non-PlayStation or Nintendo platform is just plain wrong. :p
Ironic.. One of the main reasons I have this preordered on 360 is to support the idea of this game on Microsoft's system. Im not even a FF fan. Thank god though that its no longer a "Sony" game like the PS1 era.

I agree. Except for this time since there's a noticeable difference.

I blame the Internet. This nitpicking happened back in the day but people knew less about what to nitpick about, were too young, and could only do it among their friends. Each generation each of those has changed in the direction that allows for more and more nitpicking to occur! I remember when we used to argue over Genesis & SNES.

I get my games mostly used so always ps3 cause it's bluray, the disc doesn't scratch easily. I can rest assured the disc will be like new and I just swap a good case on and it's like I got a brand new game!

The short and skinny according to them:
360 version got horribly butchered

Looks like in stills, the PS3 clearly beats the 360. But after watching that first video...it simply doesn't matter when the game is in motion. I can barely spot the differences, the most notable being the hair being 'rougher' on the 360 version. And it looks like the framerate is about the same for both versions.

And enough with the typical gamer exaggeration. It's certainly not a Bayonetta type of thing going on with this game.

PS3 version but only because I own these 2 and it will sit pretty next to them.

The comments to that article, both at Eurogamer and elsewhere, are fascinating. You might reasonably expect a flood of 360 fanboys pissed that their version was compromised (maybe it's not so bad in motion, but those stills do look terrible). No, it's the PS3 fanboys pissed that the article doesn't lambast the 360 version, and the console itself, severely enough.

"Leadbetter is a 360 fanboy! He doesn't say that the 360 sucks!"

How many 360 fanboys are actually interested in FF 13 though? I think PS3 owners have seen them do so many negative comparisons in the other direction that they'd like to see them do it severely to 360 this time.

Yeah, but that's dumb. And fanboys are dumb.

I have both systems and I won't try to find out the differences, oh noes it's too mind boggling. It's the Internet discussing rival systems what do you expect...
