I was able to find FFVII for 29.99 used at Gamestop. From what I've heard it's excellent (sublime, really) and also very hard to find. I usually don't pay 30.00 for any game, but because of the hype and difficulty locating this I picked it up.

Was I right to pull the trigger on this?

Was it a greatest hits or original? The original is worth a little bit more, but I didn't think it was very tough to find a sealed greatest hits version of this for $20.

Even the greatest hits are going for around $30 on ebay last time I checked. So you can play it and if it's not to your liking, you can just throw it on there at only a couple of dollars loss.

The demand for this is insane.I saw 8 different eb and gamestop sell it for $24.99.The game was gone in a few days,so they increase the price to $29.99.Sooner or later Gamestop might even charge $35 for it

It's worth $30, but you can probably find it cheaper especially for a GH version. Then again, at $30 its still much more enjoyable than most new $50 games, so its probably still worth it. I'm having trouble understanding the eBay prices for this lately, isn't it one the highest selling (and therefore most common) games of all time?
Its crazy how this game is "hard to find" now. This is like the most common Playstation game in history.
Agreed. I didn't know there were people who didn't own this game already! Hell, I didn't even like the game, but I have three or four copies! (Picked up at garage sales for less than $5 each time. They would usually be part of a bundle, or picked up by my parents.)
It's the greatest hits version. So it sounds like I did ok but not great. I'd love to know where i can get one for 20.00.
I sold my sealed GH for $15 on these boards just a couple weeks back.

I'd take yours back and find a sealed copy for less.

I know, it already sold 9 million copies worldwide, and everyone online uses a Sephiroth quote to gain gain some sort of respect.

Just a lot of newbz at life trying to revive an old fad I guess.

do Gamestop and EB still have different prices on certain items, even though they are 1 company now? I ask because I got a GH used copy of FF VII a couple weeks ago at EB for $24.99 and the OP mentioned he got it for $30 used at Gamestop.

You got ripped off, I was watching how much this game has been going for...and a month or so ago I sold my beat up GH version (that had a huge crack in it BTW because a past roomate stepped on it) for $40+ on Amazon.com...so if I can get $40+ for a used/beat to HELL GH version then I'd expect even more for a sealed copy (or non-GH for that matter).

EDIT: Sealed copies on Amazon.com are going for $69.96 and up so if anyone knows where to get it for $15 let me know. I know my local K-Mart used to have a TON NEW/SEALED GH versions for around $15-$20, but that was at least a year ago.

well I ordered mine from the amazon.com marketplace it was greatest hits new and sealed for only $14.99. that was about 6 months ago. But I just checked and the cheapest there now is $69.99!! I should have kept mine sealed! Well if your interested in chrono trigger you can get it sealed and GH for only $14 plus shipping..... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t.../ref=dp_pb_a/002-8227761-3218401?s=videogames

they also have xenogears for the same price.

Heck, I've owned this game three times. First, I had the PC version before I even had a Playstation, but my PC totally blew. I later bought the PS version and eventually got rid of it since I still had the PC version and I got a new comp that could actually play it well. And just last year, I bought the PS version again. Why? Because I was getting hardcore into PS emulation and thought that would be a perfect game to try out.

Is it worth it at $29? Probably, but that's still higher than you should have to pay for an old, uber-popular, GH title.

I think a better question would be: can you find it at any retail store new for less than $29.99. The answer is no because all the fleabay hoarders probably bought them all to sell. The final answer is up to you. If you're happy with your purchase then you did good, if not, then return it.

hmmm....i kind of can't believe how much people are paying for it right now. like half a year ago you could get a mint condition non-gh version for like $12 in the trading forums. Maybe part of it might have to do with the younger generation that watched Advent Children but have no clue what's going on.

I sold my OPENED GH FF VII on ebay about 2 weeks ago with a buy it now of $35 plus shipping within 4 hours of it being listed, $30 is about average..

yep, FF VII craze. i won a FF lot auction for under $70 shipped, which included a sealed FF VII GH. i sold that for $60 shipped with BIN, and was left with FF VIII non GH complete, FF IX GH no manual, FF X GH complete, FF Origins non GH complete, and FF Tactics non GH complete. i traded FF VIII and FF X, and i'm left with the other three.

What do you think the PC version can get? It's minty fresh (Box, tri-fold 5 disk CD case, even the 100+ page hint book)...it's been played and finished, but cared for ever so lovingly!

I remember when it first came out for the PC...It wouldn't work for 2 months because of graphical glitches until a patch was released to fix it. So it sat on my shelf...then one day I got an email from Square Electronic Arts..as that was what it used to be, telling me a patch was released. 7th best day of my life a gamer could ever have!

i want to pick up FF VII and especially FF VIII for PC, just for collection mostly. i'd be interested in trading for it.

I think that is way too much to pay for it.
I got a brand new, sealed version of FFVII for 15 dollars at my local blockbuster store.

No thanks! I was just being curious. I have FF VIII for the PC too! I though it was actually better than VII, but I'm sure I'm the minority on that one. I remember it had a cool minigame where you trained a chocobo and could battle it and then you got items that you could bring over to the main quest.

FF VIII's not only my favorite FF, but my favorite RPG. it's cool they included the pocketstation side quest in the PC version.
