I'm tempted to preorder the regular version on Amazon and get the 10 bucks credit but I'd much rather get a collector's edition if there is one. I know Europe is getting one, seems kinda weird that the US wouldn't but it's also weird that no retailers have a collector's edition listed yet when the game is only like 1 month away from release.

Anybody have any insight or thoughts?

I doubt it at this point. It's awful close to release, they should have announced it by now if it was coming. Plus the UK got collector's editions for Crisis Core and Dissidia that the US didn't get.

I agree, if they haven't announced it this close to release, we're not getting it. It's a shame, seems like every game and their brother gets one these days, and if anyone's willing to spend money on bonus crap, it's JRPG fans. :) I would have loved an artbook, soundtrack, and fancy box. Square dropped the ball IMO.

They had been announcing everything important concerning the game the 13th of each month. While it still is possible it could be announced Feb 13th... at this point it might not happen sadly.

I guess we will see? I sure hope they come out with one. :)

Yea, I was looking for one too, but as was said, if they havent said anything about it now, I doubt its going to happen. Sucks too, woulda shelled out some extra money for a LE or CE.

they also got Star Ocean CE for Xbox 360
Does this have to do with the value of the Euro versus dollar? That's the only way this would make sense to me.
That's most likely part of it, I mean in Europe they can sell a collector's edition for $110-120 since games normally sell for $90-100. In the US they would only get $70-80 for a collector's edition which probably wouldn't really be worth it for them financially.

I think it could be that they don't have a very good history of selling CEs. The two CEs that immediately come to mind, Crisis Core and FF XII, didn't seem to be very hot sellers. Of course there's alot of hype for FF XIII and CEs are pretty hot right now so it would be kinda strange if they don't capitalize on this... if they can give you a friggin' foot locker with NBA 2k10 then I think Square could probably see to tossing in an artbook and soundtrack.

When does this game come out in the US? It seems that some CEs sorta show up spur of the moment.

Crisis Core and FFXII CE are store exclusive and not widely available.

I want a CE for FFXIII. I'm the type to buy CE for any game I know I want Day 1. I wish we would have had a Star Ocean, Dissdia, and Crisis Core CE. I say in the US make them limited to the pre-orders you get and people will gobble, because it would be a limited print. If they were smart they would do all limited prints.
If it does come out here it will be some water-down version with a soundtrack of 14 tracks and a tin case...the hell with that. I want a complete soundtrack and all the good stuff Japan gets.
yea im tired of getting the shaft on that.

Yeah, but then they'd probably charge $150 for it or something crazy. And people would probably pay because it's Final Fantasy. But seriously, some of the SEs lately have been utter crap (especially the Capcom ones).

If there's a tin case, soundtrack and a nice physical artbook in a special box (none of that digital bullshit) for $10 more, I'd be happy. Atlus got it right with Demon Souls DE, I'd love for more companies to start doing it like that.

Bioware also seems to have perfected the formula. The Dragon Age and particularly the Mass Effect 2 CEs are great.

I don't think it's realistic to include a soundtrack, since FF soundtracks are almost always 4 discs. Plus, I already paid $50 to import one. :D As long as there's a steelbook, a nice art book, and a bonus DVD or something I'm pretty happy.

I can't believe SE would consider not releasing ANY kind of FFXIII CE here, it would seem like a colossal mistake. I'm still having trouble believing one won't be announced soon.

I was hoping for a steelbook in white with just the logo and then some sweet Amano art inside. Why do they always give the US such crappy boxart?

It seems like a lot of the games for which I'd actually buy a CE don't getting one... I really wanted a Uncharted 2 CE and Heavy Rain CE. But only Europe got those two. GoWIII is getting one but that one seems like a huge waste to me (since you get a nice box but all the bonuses are digital goods).

Well, CAG solves my problem again haha, I was having tons of trouble finding out if NA was getting a collectors edition for ffxiii. Now I know we aren't. Does anyone know of a good website that tracks collectors and limited edition games? I can't seem to find one site that is truely accurate.
