I've seen the 2-disc at Best Buy for $19.99.

Available for pickup at most stores, to avoid shipping charges (and delays, since it is backordered). Sure, $20 isn't ultra-cheap, but a lot of stores don't even carry it anymore (I think), and there is no way one could consider it not worth the price.

FOX started to number the special edition DVD's...ala Criterion.
I have the original Fight Club....I know the 2-disc went OOP for a while, but I thought they re-released it.

You'd be correct, but I think they had a stockpile of old ones somewhere and decided better to re-sell it rather than destroy them.
Seems to be working- they started the rerelease earlier this summer, but I wouldn't expect to see it after the new year. BB is where i picked mine up too. 20 bucks for this is still excellent. It used to go for nearly double that.

I couldn't find the special edition anywhere and had to settle for the one with the #9 on the spine. Oh well, whatever.

You could try half.com. I bought mine for 27 back in August. I think the going rate is around 20 now.
