Oh wow, they finally showed Bang Shishigami! That character is fuckin' awesome fun to play as!

There are a few more chars that haven't been shown yet, don't worry, they're GOOD!

got damn the hatred doesnt end!!!!

I beat all the story mode characters so I thought Id try to play that tower mode...

Ima rush dat shyt with an army of sexy Seung Minas, good idea rite????

but when I go into battle... I got only like half HP and I havent even gotten hit yet!!!

wtf?!?!?!? fuck this stat customization shyt... that's the dumbest shyt ever.
actually stopped at an arcade for a few minutes tonight just for the hell of it. I beat CvS2 (fought Bison), came close to beating Slash (gave up on I-no.) It was the saddest sight though. I was the only guy playing fighters. Some mentally retarded guy came and tried Tekken 5 (not even DR), but lost to the first person and gave up. I knew what hell was like for a brief moment.
Which arcade was this?

jekki, you're just too hardcore for SCIV.

Which arcade was this?

the shit one in Northbrook.
The RPG elements of SCIV are the best part about the game.
I actually find it to be the worst... you'll agree with me once you get to the top floors in the tower... CPU exploits that stuff up the ass.

It's a cool idea, but a little weird.

power ups in a fighting game don't feel quite right...it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. the matches are short and fast, so naturally you don't care much about "incremental chance for blocking a throw," invisibility (how is this an advantage in any way...the fucking cpu knows where you are), or some shit.

You go for more strength or more HP and call it a day.

Create-a-soul should win awards or something though. the costume customization in this game really raised the bar.

No, it's the best.
I am at the top floors of Tower. (floor 53)
The CPU exploits make it more challenging and keep interested in the game rather than just another run of the mill, dime a dozen fighting game.

The invisible CPU floors of Tower were a kick in the ass. Like level 46-48 or something.

By adding the ability to change def, hp, and str it truly allows you to create your own fighter, rather than just play dress up.

I havent been following Blaz Blue, but checking out the video got me more interested. Especially those backgrounds. How it zooms out before a battle, are the backgrounds CG or real-time graphics?

I hate it because it limits what you do with your character. On one hand I want to make a cool character, but on the other I want to make a strong one.....which is gonna be ugly.
I actually think the generator gave me a decent looking character with high stats. I just started using Tira's style and he has about 150% health

Well, what I do, is I use the best characters I can for Tower and such disregarding looks, and for online play I make characters that look cool and play normal matches instead of special where none of those stats matter.

That BlazBlue trailer looks awesome. On Soul Calibur IV, it seems like a $60 dress up game with fighting and RPG elements. Everyone on the Soul Calibur thread seems to be spending all their time making new characters which is cool but the fighting seems a little on the meh side.

Is the RPG stuff in SCIV similar to the World Tour or whatever it was called in Street Fighter Alpha 3? I liked how that mode just took the regular engine and let you do weird things with it. You got all these bonus properties for your character and you could toggle them on and off. My memory is quite foggy (it's the first game I ever had on PlayStation) but I recall a mission where you could earn some kinda Super Cancel ability so you could cancel any special into a Super (actually I might be mixing this one up with Darkstalkers 3)! Later on you'd get these wack missions where you could only damage your opponent in specific ways... and you could choose like three of your special abilities to be active during the fight. So for example, you could turn on air blocking, super cancels, and fast-charging super meter before a mission.

Obviously your "custom character" was way too broken of a thing to use in competitive play, but for single player or casual multiplayer it was good fun!

casual multiplayer for me and my friend was playing that 2 on 1 mode, v-ism, and jab locking him.
it was the most retarded thing ever
but my friend couldn't stop laughing. i didn't get it.

except for the attack / defense stuff i didn't think anything was too broken. of course, i played V-ism =) so super cancels or even enabling supers didn't really benefit me. A-ism with VCs just means you don't get directional normals (sak's b+hp would still only be close HP)

man i like alpha 3
i need to work on my v-karin

So, other than SCIV, what's everyone playing? I'm still throwing down with B. Jenet on Mark of the Wolves and I actually got my wife playing Arcana Heart. I know there's better games to play but she likes the all girl line-up.

been playing too much SCIV. More and more I see how button masher friendly it is and I don't know if I like it to be so. If anything though, I'm relearning alot I forgot.

I went to BB and saw a SCIV LE. I decided to browse around for a few minutes and picked up Warhawk with the headset for $30. I then came back to pick it up and poof, it was gone. 360 versions seem to be plentiful though.

the street fighter x triumvir clothes went on sale today... out of stock in an instant!!!

theyre gonna have a warehouse sale next weekend too and theyre gonna have like 12 hats and 12 shirts available there (the comic con version, red n blue)

-_- yyyyyeay rite...

u kno something else about SCIV I like??

Sophitia with her big breasts in that soft soft dress.

hmmm...

Looking forward to bash's book ^_^

Even if I don't read it during my leisure time, I bet it'll be awesome shitter material...

Got that SCIV this week and have been playing nonstop. It's pretty good, but not as good as I had hoped. But then again, I hype myself up too much.

I threw some Sanwa buttons and new switches in the joystick of my Namco stick. Shit's boss now. I'll have some fun pics soon, but it's just a Namco stick with orange buttons and ball. The paint fell apart on my Agetec stick when I put a clear coat on it, so I need to give it a paint thinner bath. ;)

no shit, dude actually got the Tekken 6 kit and has it up and running. Gonna have to hit Regency sometime this week. Not bad price to charge either at 3 tokens

I can't button mash with Vader against Apprentice in arcade mode. It's like a 5-yr old with ADD trying to do wiffle ball.

I managed to GI TMK once when we played 5 games. Lag was so bad. He beat me the first 4 matches 3-0 cause it lagged so bad. Last match I took 3-0.

lag seems to always show up when you charge moves or do unblockables... my guess is that since these moves take a certain amount of time to pull off and the online has to sync both sides of the game, plus the fact that you can cancel are end the move early really stresses the line alot.

I was really bored and reading gamefaqs, which is horrible in itself, then I read this
Every Street Fighter from SF2 onward is the exact same game with a few new characters. SC at least changes a good amount and adds new game modes and all that.

My friends and I played about 200 matches of VS mode tonight at my place (PS3 version), we noticed that doing moves with heavy hit effects/sparks causes lag more often than not near walls. This was for a number of stages. You can really feel the frame rate drop. We're gonna switch to the 360 version in a bit and see if we experience anything like that.

I was definitely able to get teh framerate to drop in the PS3 version.

Man, Ima be so pissed if I have to switch over to the 360 version...

i played sc4 yesterday. it seems fun. but it seems like a lot of damaging moves were toned down. or maybe i just don't know the followups yet... either way, i couldn't beat people using cass's BB anymore.

and holy fuck, amy is hot.

Amy is the new X.

If she just had old X's range, she'd be #1 for sure in my book.

Right now I'm using Amy, Cervy, Yoshi, going to add in a few chars as I learn the system more.
pedo
you're just jealous because she likes me more than you.

i might pick up the game and a 360 stick today if they got it at gamestop.

amy, cass, sets for me.

the only guy i ever liked playing in SC was nightmare. =)

it feels like i have to relearn everything though. not because the moves changed but the followups all feel different. i can't get away with having ghetto combos of 3B, BB and win anymore.

screw EWGFx4, we have cass 236:Bx4!

Got the 360 version of SC4, I prefer it over the PS3 one. I was playing it with a Hori stick which helped (I forgot my Pelican Coverter up at school so I never played the PS3 one with a stick).

Yoda is straight up hax though.
