In a fit of fiscal irresponsibility, I just ordered Melty Blood Act Credenza for the PS2 from Play-Asia. I had an $8 off coupon, but it was still kinda pricey.

Did I make a foolish mistake? I played Melty Blood exactly once in an arcade, and I remember loving it, but that was a couple years ago. I was just jonesing for a new 2D fix.

Melty Blood is soooooo good. Well, assuming you like Guilty Gear, which you do. The game might seem button mash-y at first (not on the level of DOA, of course), but there's a lot of complexity to the game and yes, it's definitely worthy of a purchase. So rejoice in your purchase!

In response to the old thread...everyone should either move to SoCal or NorCal. Problems would then be solved.

I should start living up to the "elitist" stamp all other CAG's put on us so Puffa...I believe "I'm gonna take your for a ride!" is from MVC2 not CVS2. Either way you made a great choice in picking up Melty Blood. Chac convinced me to get it with his mad used car salesman skills a while back.

Seriously play MVC2 and CVS2 until your eyes melt out of your skull. I can never get sick of either of those games. It's down right impossible.

I installed the MBCaster thing for Melty Blood AC on the PC... hopefully I'll be able to get some matches going against Apossum sometime. I wonder how well this thing works...

I'd play more CVS 2, but I never did get around to getting that converter for my DC. I still wanna do that sometime. But I love CVS 2 soooo much even though I haven't played much of my fancy-pants DC version.

I'm happy CVS2 works with the 80 GB PS3, cause it was having lag issues on my PS2 originally after I got a HDTV.

As for Melty Blood, I actually used to have a roomate that loved Guilty Gear but couldn't get into MB. I found that kinda odd.

But that roomate also enjoyed anime. Oh nevermind, I think he said he liked how hectic it was in GG and found MB a little "too peaceful." I dunno.

All I know is, I like it.

I'm up for some matches on MBcaster. Do you use Hamachi or the relay connection (option 7)?

Dammit! I got em confused. The track from CVS2 Im thinking of is 'This is the true love were makin' from the London stage. Thats even better than taking someone for a ride. ;)

I love CVS2, but damn does Morrigan need an updated sprite. I love whooping ass with her tho, she looks soo out of place in that game.

California is too expensive. Once I left, I knew I could never return without becoming independently wealthy. As that hasn't happened yet, I'm not living there.

I wish the Samurai Spirits collection would come out already. The PSN store Samurai Spirits Fencing Pack keeps tempting me and I know I'll be disappointed if I buy it. The port of SS2 is godawful.

Dude....I love that song. Probably my favorite stage in CVS2 :)

MarkMan, I know it's hard to ignore that thread but you gotta.

I'm still in the camp that thinks the word "cheap" is used by newbies. A friend of mine who doesn't play MVC2 said one time the Doom AA + Strider Ourobots was "cheap" while we were playing. Funny thing is I had a couple people over and another friend chimed in, "Well you are letting him get away with it right? Why are you leaving yourself open to it?".

Simple explanation. I don't know if anyone else feels this way but if you are in a really crappy situation ("cheap" to n00bz) you put yourself there. There are ways to avoid (For example) Magnus snap-backs in MVC2 and ways to be careful so you don't your ass painted by A-Bison in CVS2. Sure sometimes it's tough but isn't getting better what being a hardcore fighting game fan (aside from loving the genre) is all about? Lets drop the word "cheap" for a couple decades in fighting games.

ayo congratulations to JEKKI for getting THIRD PLACE in the Accent Core tournament!!!

yup~!!! I'm the man like that!!

only 5 ppl entered tho...

but that's not the point!!

the point is... I won $2!!!

it's my proudest fighting game moment since 30+ win streaks on Killer Instinct when I was 11.

congrads JEKKI!

as for getting together, I have actually thought of ways of getting it all sorted out. I want to have something set for during the summer. Hopefully I can make it where everyone can enjoy some nice Miami weather ;)

the only things that seem to prevent me from this is college classes (demanding bastards), money (which will mostly not be an issue next year), setting it up (time), and the fact that I'll be going to the Game Dev Conference and Sigraf conventions.

on a side note, I met one of my heroes today: Takashi Murikami... ie. the guy who did Kanye West's new album cover. I was a huge fan of his growing up with his work about 7 years ago after reading a Giant Robot magazine (chacrana, that mag is a must read for you... really) that featured him. I got to get some pics of me and him chiming wine glasses together :)

on a side note, I love the new animations for Law... so badass. Closer to Bruce Lee than ever :)

also, Bryan's bound combo is crazy sweet:
Congrats to JEKKI! And congrats to RR!
Definitely going to echo that.

JEKKI, did you stick with Axl in that tourney?

Congrats Rolento. I'd love to meet my two art/art history heroes, but one is long dead and one died a couple years ago I believe.

Holy crap!

I LOVE Murikami

I shit you not Im wearing a DOB T-shirt right now! I have his t-shirts, plushies, books, postcards, etc. I used to sell a bunch of his stuff on a website I started with my friends, similar to Kidrobot. Its not around anymore, but I still may have a Murikami soccerball lying around somewhere...

Awesome that you got to meet him. How did it go down? Did you get him to sign anything?

And Congrats JEKKI. Id take that $2 and frame it. Some of the first earnings in your pro gaming career. Plus money made playing games is the sweetest money of all.

didn't have him sign anything since at the moment things were so damn hectic at the time. I'm lucky I got a photo taken with him. Also, I remember when those soccer balls sold for under $300 yet now it's impossible to find them under $500.

speaking of soccer balls reminded me of someone...

huge thanks MM for uploading this... I'm slowly becoming a Dragunov freak:

also, I can see how the bound system really helps dragunov alot since he has alot of good juggles that hit low. does hitting a midair opponent with dragunov's B+4,2 put them into B!...? if so, then I'm happy.

it's weird seeing who I playt as each tekken when I focused at Tekken 3...

Tekken 3: Bryan
Tekken 4: Paul
Tekken 5: Kazuya
Tekken DR: Dragunov
Tekken 6: ....?

My guess is I'll still play a ton of Kazuya and Dragunov in tekken 6, but pick up either miguel or bob. I just hope when it hits consoles, the tekken team learns to make good internet code, unlike Tekken DR >_<

please hire the AM2 VF5 net coders!

When I first read this I thought of the sniper rifle in CoD4. :D

There are a bunch of videos from EVO West and East on the main page of Shoryuken.com

I believe someone in one of those videos was playing as Dragunov.

the fact that you say "someone" proves how little Dragunov is played

he's like the new Lei Wulong (refering to pre-Tekken DR wulong).

True :)

I tend to remember other players names. It's always fun to see people use Tekken characters you don't normally see played. Along with these Dragunov vids, the Darnell Griffin (played Kuma/Panda) vids are way entertaining.

Here are the Dragunov vids (Gary "Liquid" Santiago)

i have to slyly pop in here. as much I like gaf better than cag, they don't have any posts like the fighter thread over there. :) as long as I stay in here, I can avoid the aids virus--like in the sf 4 thread. maybe its gotten better since I read it last?

love the random art posts Rolento. where do you find this stuff? and poison--it's not right!!!

Chac-- good MB matches. Everyone else who owns MB needs to get in on this (MBcaster.) :) The direct connection matches were flawless.

It was def. fun as hell. I've gotten rusty since I haven't played since August, but I felt I had the upper hand when I played as Akiha. Nvngqurusrr Chaos on the other hand... I gotta get that son's moves down again. And I gotta relearn my other characters. Arg.

same here. I need to relearn Miyako, Akiha, and Arcruieiudikjed Burrrrnrneusstudd

Tomorrow is the start of break. Gonna play Rock Band and Marvel 2 after my long drive home (3 and a half hours).

3 Finals tomorrow though. Gonna SUCK!

Also, congrats to RR and Jekki. On a side note, dudes are TRIPPING in the SF4 thread. I think I'm done in there. People = so misinformed.
thx asian and good luck with your art history finals if they are any time soon.
Thanks but I'm not taking any Art History classes this semester. From my understanding I believe I have fully met my Art History major requirements. I have been however doing almost full-time as an Art History TA.

On top of my own finals which start this week, I'll have to grade a shit-ton of others as well.

Damn you guys and your Melty Blood on PC. I'd really want to pick it up (now that I have a comp that can run it) for the online play. The problem is I really don't want to be spending money on games right now :(

It's only about...shit, nevermind. I was going to post that it's cheap at play-asia right now, but they jacked the price back to $60 and now it ships late.

Just wait until Actress Again comes out, then it'll plummet in price (if the prices for MB:ReAct when AC rev.B came out are anything to go by.)
What are you guys using to direct connect? I want to get in some games sometime.
The MBcaster. you just need the host's ip address. add me on aim (mamesj) and let me know when you wanna play. I totally suck though :)

At first, me and Possum were connecting to a relay server or something, and it was awful. but when we directly connected, there was literally no lag. It was fantastic.

looks like there are some other clients out there-- one of them has rooms!!

what is the system requirements for Melty Blood??

West Toast IX and X are coming in December and February respectively and feature both MB and GGXXAC... I may be able to enter both???

You need like a computer. The reqs are almost nonexistant. Though if you have less than a Pentium III, I dunno... maybe it wouldn't run so great.
