final fantasy addicts rejoice

Not getting too many great reviews from what I've seen. Not to mention the almost required GBAs as well as willing friends to play this game "fully".

Ive been playing the Jp version (Downloaded from Bittorrent) and its good. Its not the best but a good game if you have GBAs and 4 friends.

yup. i got 3 cables so far just for this. gonna get a 4th one soon.

are u really currently playing all of those? i only have like 5 games on my currently playing list.

I really like FF, as well as action oriented RPGs. Do you think that this game will be worth it if you are only going to play in single player?

"The bottom line is that Crystal Chronicles is a fun multiplayer game if you own enough GBAs...The single player game, on the other hand, isn't nearly as fun."

"As a single-player game, I can't really recommend it because as far as I'm concerned the bad outweighs the good."

"If you have no friends or no GBA systems, you're out of luck. If you've got both, give Crystal Chronicles a rental at the very least."

- ign, http://cube.ign.com/articles/488/488757p4.html

i guess not...unless you're a hardcore FF fan.

Don't take IGN's wors for anything. They're usually wrong.

But probably not this time, the game looks to suck.

But IGN still sucks.

I agree IGN sucks fat sausage... but I have to agree with the opinion.

The only real fault with this game is if you dont have friends with GBAs... granted nintendo's sold roughtly 2 as many GBAs world wide than cubes if you HAVE friends at all chances are they have one.

...hell I have 2.(GBAs)

I think multi player will be awesome, despite of the bucket aspect of the game. The battle system is reminiscent of Secret of Mana, so its always a blast yelling at your buddies and telling them how much they suck for not healing the other party members.

I already got my 4 link cables (thanks to eb and gamestop for letting me pre-order for $5). It looks really fun.

Yeah, IGN is doubtless one of the stupidest gaming sites around. I hate it. All the things they point out not liking about FFCC are things I like about it. It's not at all like recent FFs, you say? Great, cause a lot of the recent ones have been horrible (VIII, X, X-2...). I don't care for Penny Arcade, but I agree with their criticism of the review.

I've seen reviewers on IGN flat out say they hate a certain gener and then PROCEED to give a shitty review to a game in that gener that mostpeople generally concider a good game.

Face it, the only reason to go to IGN is for the media downloads.(ie. screenshots and .AVIs)

yeah IGN pretty much ruined itself for me.....as far as FF:CC goes, its not a traditional final fantasy, but it seems like it is going to be a lot of fun. I already got some people buying it so we can all play

I think it looks like a great game myself, the graphics appear to be outstanding and the game is getting some solid reviews. I'm not a fan of all the emphasis on the mp portion of the game, but I will certainly give it a chance.

I really can't wait to see what some of the spells look like, should be some nice visuals
by the way, deadzone, how is harvest moon for GBA and why aren't you playing the GC version?
Probably because the GCN version isn't out until mid-march

No you didnt.

You'd need a mini dvd burner for that and as far as i know they dont exist.

And you're an asshole. Move along.

I just want to know if there is anyone in Jacksonville, NC or around the area, want to get together sometime to play FF:CC.

Also, anyone know if you can play 2 players...or is it one player or four players thing?

I've already got a friend with GBA SP lined up and am going to be "borrowing" a nephew's GBA for a bit so we can round out the party.
Also, anyone know if you can play 2 players...or is it one player or four players thing?
You can play with one to four. The less amount of players, though, the amount of GBA abilities you get (ie: doing without a terrain tracker or scouter).

D4rkewolfe, too bad you're not a tad closer to Raleigh, or I'd play.

By the way, anyone know when this is actually gonna be in stores? I've seen anywhere from today's date, Feb. 9, to Feb. 11.
By the way, anyone know when this is actually gonna be in stores? I've seen anywhere from today's date, Feb. 9, to Feb. 11.
For Nintendo first party games, I give them that extra day. Walmart was the only store locally that was advertising Feb. 10th release date here. Everyone else said the 11th.

I'd suggest unless your a rabid FF fan that if you didnt preorder you rent first I heard bad things, like how you get EXP....I wont get the game becaue of this. I'll try to explain but I know it'll come out wrong  you only get EXP if you do a certain thing in a battle (or dungeon perhaps I said) like, get a critial, or dont heal or etc, so if you watn do that or if one person/char in the party cant do it...guess what no EXP. WTF!!?

From my understanding it's not EXP in the traditional since. Instead, during a quest each person's given a specific task to accomplish. Also during a quest the group will end up picking up gear that will affect stats. Who gets first dibs on which piece of gear he wants depends on who fulfilled their directive best during the quest.

Yeah this game isn't meant to please the hard core Final Fantasy crowd, the mechanics are more like Secret of Mana more than anything, to be honest I'm tired of traditional RPGs and traditional Final Fantasy and tranditional Exp points, now give me my bucket, crystals, and assigned tasks.

I did the 4 for FF:CC pre-order and EB called last night (2/09), said it was in and I could get it any time. So it's out!

Expect to see more and more games like this where nintendo tries to manipulate gamers into spending more money on them.

^ You're completely right ScrubKing, They've been slowly but surely trying to manipulate the Gamecube crowd to be sure that they have a Gameboy Advance by offering additional little quirks in the game (Ala Tingle in Windwaker, E-Reader Cards, Secret Unlockable Island in Animal Crossing, the list goes on, and on, and on) but are to no avail. The unlockable things all suck and even though I've got a GBA, it's strictly for the games. The only reason why I'd consider getting the GC to GBA link cable is because of Tingle. I hear he can help just a bit, and I'm stuck in that game, in some dungeons name that I can't remember.. Lol how dedicated am i
((anything to get nintendo money though i suppose))

EDIT: to kid that asked, Harvest Moon GBA is absolutely great. Pick it up for sure if you're a Harvest Moon fan at all, or if you like Animal Crossing, or if... hell, just pick it up and give it a try. I wasn't sucked in at first but it quickly afterwards became addicting as hell, and now I play like a complete maniac, getting a pixelated girl on a screen to like me, hunched over on my couch
... damn. When i said that i just realized how pathetic that was. But right now im playing castlevania, where a pixelated man stabs demons and gets weapon upgrades.
Damn, now that sounds a lot better. Heh. Just don't add the hunched over or craning your neck

Ok, started the game yesterday with 3 of my friends, it was a blast we played about 4 hours, 1 of which was getting used to the settings, items and magic. To me this game is really different than most of the mechanics used in most Rpgs/adventure games these years. The bucket doesn't get on my nerves at all, it was like Gauntlet legends all over again. The way one builds up their character is different, but fun nonetheless. No experience points needed, just different tasks, the minigames we played so far were pretty fun too. I can't wait to get together with my friends to play this game again, but you know with school and work it'll be a hassle just to get all 4 of us together, not like the old days when we were all in highschool playing Secret of Mana. Well I don't know if your hardcore FF fanboy will like this game, but I haven't enjoyed a FF game since 3(VI) so I was satisfied with my purchase.

Good to hear!

I tested out the single player and it wasnt half bad I havent had time (until tonight) to team up with 2 other players so that info on my take will be editied into this post after the next day or so.

wow, this sounds exactly like me, heh. I'm a grad student in terms of available time. I'm getting CC today at gamestop, the shipment will come in this afternoon. (Plane delay)

I got mine yesterday, and played a bit. I dont want to get that far into it b/c I've organized a FF:CC "Posse" of sorts. Its me, my bro, and 2 friends, and were starting off this weekend. Does anyone know if you can transfer characters from the Single Player to the Multiplayer mode?
