One of the last Final Fantasy games I haven't played is IV and I have both the PSP version and the DS version.  Does anyone knowledgeable on both versions have a suggestion on which to play?  I know the DS version has redone graphics, but otherwise is there much to know.  I'll never play both versions due to my backlog so I want to make the right choice here.  Thanks!

I couldn't stand the 3D on the DS version, and it made it incredibly difficult to play through the game that way.  The PSP version was a way better remake as the graphics are also updated too, but still keeps to the same continuity as the original.  They are definitely two very different versions because of the way they've been remade, but personally for me it was much easier to go through the PSP version without grinding my teeth every 20 seconds.  If you're more in the mood for nostalgia then the PSP version is probably more suited, but if you rather have a completely new experience I'd go with the DS version for that, so just depends on how you're feeling.

Thanks for your take on this. I'm fresh off the heels of Chrono Trigger so I'm kinda feeling the 16 bit vibe right now, based on what you say I am leaning toward the PSP version.

If I remember correctly the DS version of IV is the only version that is based in the Hard Type game mode. The PSP version is nice as well since it includes the Epilogue game and the intermediate story as well, but I can't comment on how good they are since I never really played them. i also think that the PSP version is based on the easier difficulty that the is release of IV had on the SNES

I personally prefer the DS version since it is based in the Hard Type difficulty.

No the PSP version is based off the European GBA version, which is the best one.
