I grabbed a used copy of FFT from GameStop at lunch and realized after I drove away that it does not have the manual. Do I need the manual for this game or can I wing it without? I know in past FF games the manuals are actually a good reference for magic and armor and what-not.

Remember that the Select button will show help text for most menu options in the game. If you've played other Final Fantasy games, you'll have seen a lot of the class/skill/spell/item names before, so you should have a pretty good sense of what's going on.

Thanks, I remember playing it on the PS1 and that manual had a bunch of info on Zodiac signs and how they can affect the battle. I'll try it without the manual tonight.

Just a heads up but the FFT:WotL guide is .01 at Best Buy. YMMV on finding it since it was pennied last Monday. Also, YMMV because some BBs will not sell penny guides. Good Luck!

I might have to take this back; I now remember why I didn't finish the one for the PS1. I just don't have the patience for this type of game and may try finding something that moves at a little faster pace (loved me FF IV and FF VI).

Any suggestions?

Yeah I usually don't have patience for slower games but this game is PERFECT for the PSP. You can play it for quick spurts and just put the system to sleep if you're getting bored or want to do something else. The animated cutscenes and added content make this game a lot of fun. I'd stick with it. It's a LOT of fun. Probably the first FF game I've finished.

Well, this choice was made for me. The day I was going to take it back I found that my 2 year old found it and took the disk out of the case .... still have yet to find it. That'll teach me to put a game in my coat hanging on the door.

The game can get pretty complicated... but the good thing is that theres plenty of information on the game so no manual is necessary. The tough thing about this game is that the enemies level up with you as you level up so you can't get that much of an advantage.

I actually found it kind of annoying to play on the PSP because sometimes a skirmish could take a long time and you would be stuck in a chess like battle with some bosses.

Its one of the greatest games though, one of my favorites.

Only the random enemies level up with you.
