Final Fantasy Type-O Vita-only in U.S.? (link to 1up article)

Talk about burying the lead. According to a 1up article on upcoming PSP/Vita games, their "inside sources" claim that Square will be bringing Type-O to North America as a Vita release. Now it doesn't claim Vita-only, but the wording of the write-up leaves that impression, at least to me...

If the game is reworked somewhat to look and play better on the Vita that's one thing, but if it's just a re-branding to get more attention, it doesn't seem right to leave PSP owners out in the cold. I haven't read this anywhere else, so maybe it's a mis-statement.

I haven't heard anything about this anywhere else. It is just rumors, coming from 1up now. I don't realistically see Square not bring it over to the US. Everything Final Fantasy sells.

I would be far more likely to buy this if it stayed on PSP. This sure as hell is not a Vita killer app for me.

Unless they are going to use it as a bargining chip to get PSP owners to jump over to Vita it should come out for both. I personally think releasing it Vita only would limit their sales. Because people aren't going to pay 300 bucks for a Vita, unless they are a hardcore Final Fantasy fan.

That really bugs me, because I did want to play Type 0, but I don't plan on buying a Vita anytime soon. Jumping on one bandwagon to be screwed over later with a huge price drop once was enough for me.

The only thing I've heard about Type-O is that they designed their controls in some way with the Vita in mind, which was on one of the last episodes of Roleplayers Realm.

I'd love to see this as a Vita release because it would mean that we'll have it on the PSN, which I don't think the PSP version will get, at least it didn't in Japan, IIRC. Other the bump in graphics would be nice, but I could sacrifice that if it meant getting the game sooner rather then later.

A real Vita release (soon) will make me WANT to buy a PS Vita at launch. Right now I'm undecided...

hope this isn't a vita exclusive, would be kind of heart breaking

we already know for a fact the game is coming on two UMD discs, but if that was only for japan.... =[

So long as it comes out in the States, I'm happy.

But bonus points if they do some Vita enhancements -- I'd even be willing to pay extra if that were the case.

What I have been hearing is that this game may be released as digital download only. The PSVita can only play PSP games via digital download as it does not have a UMD drive.

That would be cool. It would be nice to have a beautiful looking FF to play on the go.
