Final Fantasy XIII-2 $15

Just finished this a couple of weeks ago. It took a while to get going and the story is uninteresting until the very end (and this is coming from a huge fan of the original's story), but this was an awesome game if you have patience in the beginning.

Was this game a failure? I played the first and was really disappointed with it. I beat it then deleted my game saves and sold the game. Also, is there some extra unlocked content for having played the first and if so, will I not qualify since I deleted my saves?

A representative from squeenix will come by and personally award you a medal for playing the first game. They will also take your word for it that you deleted the save games.

I enjoyed this one greatly more than the first. They definitely fixed the linearness of the first one and added tons of side quests you can do as you progress instead of it starting near the end. There is quite a bit of content to do if you like to collect everything.

As far as having a save from the first, I think the only thing they give you is a theme to use on the PS3 or 360.

Thanks for the info. I unlocked a couple themes playing through the original already anyway.

Edit: nevermind, I didn't elite the saves after all.

Also, to the OP, you should really add gamefly used to the title because that destroys all interest I had in this.

The first one was good, but overstayed its welcome by about 20 hours.

And too slow to get rolling. I was mad that there was no way to replay the cut scenes.

How many CG cutscenes in the game? Ff13 was borIng as shit but I played through just to see more of gorgeous Cg cutscenes

The only good looking CG cutscene you will see is the initial one at the beginning, and the one at the end. The rest are all done using the in-game engine.

I did the same with the original xiii, the cutscenes drove me to finish the game.

The in game engine stuff was only for the 360.

Shoot, both versions are only available if you Keep It, not to buy outright. With membership discounts and $5 credit I'd snag it for ~$10 shipped if I had a free slot :/
Sorry, but I agree with the OP. This deserves its own thread and not to be buried in a mass gamefly thread. I bought it as soon as I received the email from them, and I rarely buy games anymore.
When it's posted in a thread by the founder of this site, it does not need it's own thread.

Having a save (doesn't have to be completed), you get a Lightning theme. You also get the ability to unlock a mask to put on your monster. You also get a crystal that helps your chances in the slot mini game and I think one other item that isn't big. The game will tell you that you unlocked a theme, but does a bad job at telling you other things you get.

I think there is only 2. Intro and ending. They focus more on in game cutscenes compared to XIII. Though if you're getting this on 360, you don't have to worry about 3 disc this time :p

Seconded. "Gamefly" is adequate, as most people know by now that means "used", but there's no reason not to add "(USED)" to the title as well.

And welcome to CAG, OP.

I enjoyed the first one a lot, but I guess I just got burned out on it because when I played this one I was bored after a few battles and traded it in to Amazon for a profit.

I personally liked the second one more than the first to be honest. The combat was fun and I actually didn't mind doing the sidequests.
I'm surprised more people didn't pick this up from Best Buy. After Gamer Coupon, it was $15 brand new. That's how much I payed for mine.
yeah, they even had the one with the novella at a bunch of bby's; i kind of have didn't buy it remorse.

I have the novella copy for PS3. I'll eventually get to it.

this but for 15 dollars when i got it at best buy i really cant complain its a pretty decent for 15 dollars. but then again the only other FF ive played is FF 13 so i cant compare it and whine about it sucking compared to other FF games. this game is basically a launch pad to the third and hopefully final part of FF 13 so it suffers for that reason. in that light its not a bad game. i was starting to hate it till end personally lol.

you also get some item that i think makes rare drops more frequent. i know you do get an in game item or two for it and some money too i think. sure its not a lot but its something i suppose.

i think there are more than just those two cut scenes though that use CG i could be wrong. either way its quite a visual treat
You also get a crystal that helps your chances in the slot mini game
Is that what that did? I shudder to think what the chances are without that crystal, then. I just ended up keeping my 360 on overnight letting it play itself. That slot game was by far the worst part of an otherwise surprisingly fun game.

And $15 is the perfect price for this. That way, you won't feel too bad when you start shelling out dough for the bikini DLC. Er, I mean, the extra battles and stuff.

i wait for a cheaper goty version with all dlc, what dissapoint me its that graphically this game its a downgrade for ps3 compared to XIII
