So as the title says i finally got a wii for pretty cheap and with 2games and 2 controllers soo i can't complain. My next question any suggestions as to some games i should get i got wii sports and wii play... i also have an hdtv does anyone suggest of me getting better av cables wil i notice a difference.... Later

Grats. Get the component cables, you'll notice a difference.

I approve of the following games ;) (your tastes may vary):

Zelda
Rayman
Trauma Center
Madden
Tiger Woods
Excite Truck
I also hear Metroid is good, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

There are a ton of great Gamecube games I'd recommend, or Zelda's fun so far. I'd rent Metroid Prime 3 first personally, as IMO it's not much like the first one (and not really a Metroid style game).

I have Zelda and Metriod Prime 3 and they are pretty good. Apparently some people have issues with MP3 but I think it's definitely a metriod style game. It might too straight forward for the die hards but it's doesn't stray that much.

There are a lot of great games coming out this fall/winter

Battallion Wars 2 (Oct 29)
Super Mario Galaxy (November)
Super Smash Brothers Brawl (December)

Then you can always check out the virtual console games on Wii for some old classics fun or find some good gamecube games. Though you'll need to make sure you have the correct controllers. The wii mote only works on regular Ninendo games.

Congratualtions and Happy GAMING!

Of course Zelda and Metroid are MUSTS, COD3 (best shooting mechanics I've ever seen, pinpoint accuracy!), Need for speed is fun b/c you steer by holding the wiimote sideways.

I also HIGHLY recommend RE4: Wii edition as this was one of my favorites. Super Paper Mario was allright.

Thats all I've got. I have Red Steel but have heard complaints and havent thrown it in yet. Marvel Ultimate alliance kinda sucks IMO.

I'd recommend getting the component cables if you have an HDTV or an SDTV that takes them, if not get S-video if you're SDTV has that port.

A classic controller if you're going to play SNES or Genesis games (GC controller is terrible for these with the small d-pad and retarded button layout), a wavebird and GC mem card if you want to play any GC games.

As for Wii games, only Metroid and Zelda are must buys at current prices IMO. Super Paper Mario is ok, but didn't feel worth the $50 price tag to me (I got it for $39 acutally, and sold it for $35, so about right).

RE4 is definitely worth the money as well if you never played it, I played the GC version earlier this year before the Wii port was announced.

Be sure to get that accessory for it. I don't really remember the name of it. It's got a white tip, kind of soft. Has a handle, it's about 1 foot long. It's very helpful to have hand-in-hand with a Wii.

!!!?!! *SNAPS*

A duster.
That's what it was.

I would recomend Zelda, Super Paper Mario, and Resident Evil 4 Wii edtion. If you haven't played the Godfather on any other consoles, pick up the Blackhand edition.

I just got a Wii also. Amazon actually had some in stock recently. The Wii got delivered today, and I'm still at work! And I have bowling league tonight!

Soon I'll be fake bowling with my wife, heh.

I just joined gamerang.com for game rentals and put these in my rental queue:

Alien Syndrome
Dewy's Adventure
Fishing Master
Carnival Games
Brunswick Pro Bowling
Boogie
Mario Strikers Charged
Elebits
Big Brain Academy
Trauma Center
Wario Ware

(Yes, I didn't put Zelda or Metroid on the list. I'm looking for casual games that my wife might like, I have a PC for real gaming. I'm sure I'll play Zelda and Metroid one day... though I'm more excited about downloading Super Metroid!)

I'm going to recommend Trauma Center: Second Opinion out mah ass! That game is SO good and SO much fun. I love it.

If I were to recommend you 3 games, I'd tell you to get Metroid, Trauma Center, and Super Paper Mario. If you do have people to play with (on a pretty normal basis) I'm going to tell you to look into Mario Party 8. If you only have 1 person to play with..then I'm going to recommend Cooking Mama: Cook Off (but only get it when it's cheap)

But then..Sonic & The Secret Rings is pretty good. RE4 is too.

Jeeze, just go buy them all..lol

Super Paper Mario
Godfather Blackhand Edition
Dewy's Adventure
Super Mario Strikers

Some quality and diverse (which IMO is important to keep a system from getting stale) gaming goodness in those four titles.

As most have suggested... Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3. I'd also recommend Trauma Center: Second Opinion and Super Paper Mario.

thanks for all the input i definately need zelda that is a must and the cables and mario party...errr so much i need for my wii and not enough money i just bought a 37inch hdtv too

Well if you have Zelda to hold you over for a month you could start looking out for these:

October 29, 2007:

Battalian War 2
Guitar Hero III
Manhunt 2

Then 2 weeks later (Nov 13):

Super Mario Galaxy
Medal of Honor Heroes 2
Rayman Rabbits Raving 2
Resident Evil Chronicles
Soul Calibur Legends

Then a week later (Nov 20):

Ghost Squad
Trauma Center: New Blood
Link Crossbow Training
WWE Smackdown Vs Raw
Mario & Sonic

I don't know how people can just say Zelda is only a pretty good or ok game. I know this is just my personal feeling on it, but I've been playing 360 for a while and finally got a Wii. Popped in zelda and have been delighted to get that epic experience again, I think it's such a great game. I've tried RE4 a bit, solid game with a little bit of clunky controls, but you get used to it.

Agree about Zelda. Thought it was fantastic. I finished it in Dec at 45 hours, and I've put in another 5 or so recently dicking around with fishing, the rapids and some of the other stuff I missed before.

Still need to do the cave of ordeals. Made one pass at it a couple days before getting Metroid, haven't got around to trying again.

Fantastic game, one of the few I'd give a perfect 10 too.

It and Metroid and Wii's saving grace for me. Haven't dug the console much, but those two games are so fucking good that I can't bring myself to sell it knowing Nitnendo will keep putting out at least a couple games of that type of quality a year.

Nice...thankz for everyone sharing the love to a new wii owner...i definately need to get Zelda...and i just ordered the hd cables yesterday from monoprice they were the days special and got them for $6.45 or something like that shipped

Hmm...well, personal preference, but so far I don't like Twilight Princess as well as Wind Waker or the first N64 game. It's got the worst early game of any Zelda IMO, and has frustrating bits. Worse graphics than Wind Waker too, although I guess that's subjective.
