First time seller - help please~

So I recently sold an item on Ebay and got a decent price on it - $38. Now the problem here is that I am new to the selling business and don't really know everything about what I'm doing.

So, the buyer has 0 feedback so far. Looks like this is his first buy. How exactly am I supposed to protect myself for this transaction? I've heard some horror stories from people on here, so I figured I'd ask the masters.

I'm on Paypal right now and it says "The sender of this payment is Verified." However, he's using something called eChecks, which is expected to clear in a few days.

Right now I'm thinking that as long as I wait until this eCheck thing is cleared, and send with delivery confirmation, I should be fine. But is there anything else I need to do? I'd really rather not get scammed.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Just ship with delivery confirmation, and if you're really uneasy insure it for another dollar. It'll cut into your profit but in the end you have no worries at all if he should file a claim.

Soon as you get the money, withdraw it immediately, then ship the item. You shouldn't have to do that, but that's how fucked up PayPal is nowadays.

As long as you pay shipping through paypal then you are secure. They keep records of it. Also I hate damn e-checks. The buyer always bugs me about late shipping and then I have to reply saying that their check barely cleared.

Thanks, guys. I'll go with DC, and depending on how I'm feeling - insurance.
Honestly, why wouldn't you research this before you sold something?
Because I didn't expect someone to pay with eChecks, and I've read the threads on this forum before and the ones I read all dealt with regular paypal issues with people talking about how ripped off they got.
