::flame suit on:: Anyone NOT impressed with Halo 2?

I loved the first one, and so far this only gets a MEH from me. We'll see how it is at a LAN compared to the first one.

I'm enjoying it so far. It's the little things that are standing out for me. I do not want to give anything away for those who have not picked it up yet. Graphics are better. The dual welding is cool. Plasma sword is kickass (esp. against the *****) :p . Storyline is alot stronger in this one.

If you enjoyed the first one, you will definitely like this one. This is a solid game IMHO.

Same ol' same ol'? What did you guys expect? Its a sequel. If they turned it around and made it a racing game, that wouldn't be much of a sequel would it?

Personally, I may have built it up in my mind but I'm still very happy with it, storyline and the new gameplay improvements/tweaks.
I wanted a card based gane! Thank god MGS can change that much....
LOL

That makes me think of something. The game designers keep saying that the consumers are demanding card based strategy games, but who are these people? I want names and addresses!

Are people really going nuts over this game. Waiting outside a store till midnight? Anyone here going to do that?
Here's an idea, how about you guys play it for more than ONE DAY before you start saying how let down you are by the game?
^Really. I am impressed with the campaign and multiplayer so far.

I'm so happy I just rented Halo 2.

The game is a bit better then Halo 1. But from me that's not saying much because I hated Halo 1.

I ran into the "can't read disc" error. but it wasn't a big deal I just popped the disc in and out and it worked fine. One thing that has been bugging me is during a couple of the cut scenes the textures will load late.

What did you guys expect? Bungie wasnt about to revamp the entire game and make it completely different. If you liked Halo then you should like Halo 2. IMO its one helleva game, the best the big black box has to offer, and well worth the money.

(Even though I got my copy for $25 through trade in deals and a dumbass cashier, I think its worth the $50.)

So far its been everything i've come to expect. I liked Halo 1 a whole lot and even went through all the stages on Legendary. To me, Halo is the ultimate action game with the ultimate oh-shaq-fu moments.
If I didn't like Halo 1 however (and i agree it does take getting used to), I would definately not stick around for the sequel. Spending serious cash on a sequel for a game just like one you didn't like is completely pointless.

There's nothing wrong with the game, its the people playing it.

Look, if you thought the original Halo was just "ok" and you actually bought into the retarded hype that Halo 2 was going to be the GREATEST GAME EVAR then its YOUR fault that you're let down.

If you loved the original Halo chances are you're really enjoying this one so far.

As hyped as I was for this game I knew it was going to just be "Halo 1 with different weapons and guns" and that's fine, just like GTA : SA is "GTA III with more vehicles and bigger cities" and that's fine for GTA fans.

Maybe it's just me, but I had more 'fun' riding vehicles and taking down the Covenant than on foot gunning...

I myself had a blast playing it today. Both offline and online are really fun. Just the fact that you can play online is worth the $50 to me, it is cool to play Halo 1 when I have friends over but now I can play Halo with people at the drop of a hat, and that is priceless.

My 2 cents:

Live is the best part of the game...it really is. The game just feels so much more alive.

Take for instance, the game i had 5 min ago. We were playing assault in which you have to get a bomb into the enemies base and plant it. 8V8. So my team is on offense and im following the guy with the bomb, its me with double smg's(Uzi-type guns) and another guy with a plasma sword. We go rushing through wiping out everythying in our path, and start to plant the bomb, my partner gets hit with a sniper shot while hes planting it, i get hit with one and i fall like 3 stories. At this point, there is like 10 seconds to go in the match before we lose and i make this mad dash up the stairs to finish planting the bomb. Once i finished with 2 seconds to go, everyone went crazy. It was one of my favorite live moments.

Thats not what its about...its just "Halo 1 with Xbox live" which is utterly amazing. Best online ranking system I've ever seen. I check my stats and about 15 seconds after the game ends it is posted on bungie.net

exaclty...same way i looked at it..sequels like these are hard to please the general community but halo 2 fans like myself are satisfied with it. anyway im happy that it still plays like halo and nothing different..dualies are worth it arent they? lol

It really sucks that only one person per account can play in ranked games. I understand that it is all ranked on the Live account and that particular gamertag, but they should have allowed a few profiles per account. It makes joining a game kind of hard. You have to know certain people's gamertags and invite them to play if you are playing with more than one person on your box. Other than that, I'm still having a blast with the game. I enjoy the campaign mode alot.

amen

We are playing it right now. I liked Halo 1 and finished it on Legendary a few times (Non co-op). I think Halo 2 is more of the same with some new added. Very good if you liked Halo 1. If not, go play your turn based games. Those are about as fun as Chess with graphics and sound. I love Chess, but Halo is much more intense and action packed... I tend to like all types of games and this is one of my favorites. You can't please everyone, but this is sure to please alot of people.

Whoever viewed this as more of an expansion then a sequel... play the game more. It's a sequel, sequels usually give you more of what you liked, and halo 2 does that in spades. It's a good game, much better then the original

This is probably the most I've ever been willing to spend on a game in my whole gaming career and I'm happy to say that just from the dozen hours of Live I've played- it was absolutely worth the $55 and thats insane entertainment value.
I'm able to justify it because I know this game won't drop in price for years and its looking to be one of the best games of all time.

Haven't touched single player yet, but multiplayer online is EXACTLY like a LAN party, especially because my brothers can play online with me. I'm about to sell off alot of my games seeing how this is the only thing I want to play.

i'll dish out $50 when i really want to. i don't know if i will for Halo 2 though. Kingdom Hearts 2, though, hell yes. perhaps even Metroid Prime 2.

Halo 2 is really really good. Not perfect, but really good. My fucking college tech department is so evil that they grind small puppies' bones to make their bread, so they blocked me from using xbox live, so I can't enjoy that, but the system link games we played were really fun. The campaign is up and down, I liked it a lot, then when the *spoiler* came around not so much, but now it's getting very interesting.

I like how the game plays and the dual weilding and the story. Very very satisfied, thank you bungie. But next time, don't take 3 years to get the next bit of the story out to us!

There were over 300 people at my gamestop waiting at midnight last night. Most of them didnt look like they were the type to play these games. Maybe that's part of the problem.

Hype has brought in the casual gamer, and the result is a win for MS. But there will likely be a few used copies on ebay after xmas.

I like halo 2, and i played in a beta for it for about 14 hours thru bugs and a much higher difficulty.
Playing thru it in it's finished form has been a pleasure, and i cant wait to find a cheap router to go online.

Yeah I just got home from playing this over at my friend's house for the past few hours.

I am SOOO not impressed. Sure its fun, but I can't stand the new multiplayer maps and it is essentially the first game with online multiplayer. Plus whoever said (in reviews) that the graphics are AMAZING can eat a dick. It looks just like Halo 1 and the damn game kept slowing down in a 4 player non-online match! WTF is that?

I'm considering cancelling my order of this game from Blockbuster, but I really need SOMETHING to play on my useless XBOX...

It is a great game but no game can live up to the hype that this game got. I need to play more multi to make a final decision I am trying to finish the single player game first.

one thing you should also realise is that the game is sure to get lots of DLC. Mechassault got like 15 downloads. So I'm sure this game will get a ton too. I hope they give us the original pistol.

I never paid attention to the original Hajo when it came out. I only just played it this summer. I never noticed the hype on it, so I loved it.

After I beat it, I wanted more, even if it was more of the same. That's what Hajo 2 is: More of the same. This is a good thing. They made it a little tougher and I just love this game. I am not a "fanboy" or anything. I just see it as an "expansion pack" to the first Hajo.

What the hell is Hajo? I know you meant Halo, but what in the hell is a hajo?

HAJO! HAJO! HAJO!

I sometimes like typing "Hajo" instead of "Halo" to see if anybody notices.

Oh. Okay.

"HAJO!"

I LOves me sum Hajo!! I am kicking it's Hajo ass!! "Hajo, where you gonna go with that gun in yo hand?" Jimmy Hendrix rules....

It's really funny... People who weren't crazy about Halo aren't crazy about Halo 2. People who loved Halo, love Halo 2 even more. Who would have thought? Halo is the only game I've every played through on 4 different difficulty levels. The amount of action on the screen, the options for weapons, the dialogue and co-operation of NPC's in the game... It's not really much different than any other FPS, it's just a FPS with all of the parts done REALLY well. The LIVE matchmaking system takes a while during peak times, but every game has run smooth as butter. I love the fact that everything is random and matched to your skill level, so the games are always competetive. It seems like if I do really well for a few games, I end up in a game with some higher ranked people. If I get my ass kicked, it moves you back down. I love on-line play, but nothing kills the enjoyment of it like getting pwned by people who have the time to spend 12 hours a day on line.

Comparing games from different genres is a waste of breath. GTA:SA may be better, but I just don't like the GTA games. How good SA is has no impact on me. Might as well compare Halo to Madden, as far as I'm concerned. I love FPS games, and Halo and Halo 2 are two of the best run and gun shooters ever. My expectations were that 2 would be Halo, only better. Bungie pulled through in aces.

The only complaint that I have about the game is this.

When you're in buildings the movement speed seems fine, but when you are playing a more wide-open map like Coag, the speed seems extremely slow.

Nothing can be more frustrating than dying and then have to "run" all the way across the map, which takes about 20 to 30 seconds, to get back in the action.

I'm also starting to miss the pistol, they could have at least tried to make the assult rifle simelar.

Same ol' same ol'. If it had been too different you little girls would be complaining that it was so much different than the original. The first title is still on the best seller list from the launch.

If you 'haters' actually had friends that came over and played multi-player than you would know what Halo was all about.

If it just went online with the original game it would be worth the $50 bucks. New levels, new weapons, new controls, and expanded team play.

Get it straight. Halo 2 Rocks!!!!
It's really funny... People who weren't crazy about Halo aren't crazy about Halo 2. People who loved Halo, love Halo 2 even more. Who would have thought?
And the few who loved the original Halo and don't like Halo 2 are just pissed because they have to learn new strategies and new weapons. They're mad because they can't just jump into a multiplayer game with their uberpowerful pistol and put three shots in someone's head to kill them.

It's crazy, because people bitched about how powerful the original pistol was, so Bungie changed it, and now people bitch about the changes. Gamers are the most unappreciative bunch of f*cks out there, moreso than music or movie fans.

It is a better game than the first Halo. Had it been released before, noone would doubt this. But people have had years with Halo, so now that things are different they just seem a little off.
I had the same problem with Super Smash Bros. Melee when it first came out. My friends and I put in so much time into the first one, that every little difference felt huge. However, we played it for 2 weeks, and we were hooked. I am guessing that the same will be for Halo 2. Of course, I don't see what all the fuss is about, I'm loving the game even with its nonsensical story and occasionaly glitchy cutscenes. Was it overhyped? Sure. Is it still one of the best games ever? Yeah. All I know is, Metroid Prime 2 with its complete lack of hype is going to be a wonderful surprise.
All I know is, Metroid Prime 2 with its complete lack of hype is going to be a wonderful surprise.
Unfortunately nobody will play it because only 6 people own a Gamecube.
