Flu Shots

Agreed. I do think the hype is overblown. It's just another flu strain. If you're high risk, get a vaccine for sure. If you're not, either get one or don't just like you do for the seasonal flu.

On the other hand, all the conspiracy theory non-sense about the vaccines is equally ridiculous.

I have been getting the regular one most of the time(mostly due to my allergies). I remember in middle school I got really sick a day after I got it(but believe that to be a bad pizza sub). Overall I feel it has helped me more than hurt.

depends where you live. I hear in the southern states is where the h1n1 is a lot worse. Uo in the midwest if you get it it usually has you out of comission for 1-4 days.

I will say i won't be getting the nasal vaccine. The idea of inhaling a live virus, even weakened, just doesn't appeal to me.

Zing you nailed it.

Oh and for those so worried about this why not just take natural things to keep up your immune system? Why not take Oregano Oil or Echinacea?

Oh and to the person whose brother died I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately that's the goal of this vaccine I suspect or a side benefit. It's a way the Elites can thin out the population that they think is too big to begin with. I mean the original vaccine killed more people then the Flu did for fuck sake.

As for regular Flu shots I think they're a money scam and fucking pointless. Frankly I think if you take enough precautions with natural treatments like those mentioned above you can either prevent getting the Flu or really stop it in it's tracks from being too terrible.
I haven't been shot in about five years, and I worked as a cop in Liberty City for two years and still didn't get shot. So no, I'm not wearing these bullet-proof vests just due to me never getting shot.
That is an inaccurate analogy. The risk/reward ratio is much different than a flu shot. Wearing a vest does not risk your health, and getting shot is much more dangerous than getting the flu.

People like you give crazy people like me a bad name.

The elites make their money and keep their power through wars and suppression of resources.

Having even 1% or 0.1% die from flu shots would spell doom for anybody pushing them.

Relax. The master plan of the Elites or any other boogeyman is to weaken the target until it can be pushed over.

Here's a newsflash: walk through a Wal-Mart and you'll realize we lost years ago.

This is fucking rich. Just got an email about the free flu clinic that was gonna happen next week at work. It's been put on indefinite hold because apparently all the vaccine makers and putting all their efforts into the H1N1 vaccine and so there is now a shortage of regular flu vaccine from all providers. That's fucking rich considering the regular flu is much more dangerous. Does that mean more people will die of the regular flu as a result of ramping up efforts to vaccinate people for a virus that kills less than 1% of the infected?

What the hell is a flu shot? You mean people get shots to make them immune to the common f*$^@*#$@ cold? Which is basically what swine flu is? *Facepalm*

I got the flu a couple of years ago and it was intense, but I was able to function after a few days. I can understand getting a vaccine if your doctor advises it, but if you're completely healthy why bother?

Well, the other reason already mentioned, is getting it prevents you from catching it and spreading it to others.

It may be mild to you, but you may spread it to several other people while your contagious before you know you have it (or you keep going to work, school etc. even when really sick). So vaccines aren't only for ones self, but to also keep the spread of the disease lower--and thus keep more people at risk from getting it.

But I'd never nag someone for not getting one, but that is the other reason to consider when thinking about.

It's not the main reason, I just get it as I tend to get really sick with colds and flus (sinus infections/asthma) and even just being really sick for a few days is a hassle with my job since I have to cancel classes and fall behind on research work and thus have to work even more hours (when I already work a ton) when I recover to catch up. If I had a job that you didn't take home with you and didn't get behind when missing time I'd care less.

I haven't noticed any real shortage on here. My work ran out of shots about half way through their 4th day--I'd already got mine. They weren't free, but $20.

The CVS down the road still has the sign up for Flu Shots Everyday for $24.99. If you really want one, just look around and pay for one.

Oh yeah, I know there's not really a shortage shortage in the true sense of the word. You can still mosey on over to a clinic or CVS/Walgreens and get one right away. That was another reason why I was perplexed by the whole thing. But if there really is going to be a shortage of regular flu vaccine because of the swine flu vaccine, well that's just ridiculous IMO. I still might get a regular flu shot, but not this week. I had a bad reaction to a medication yesterday (more like withdrawal symptoms from not taking the medication), and I am still recovering from that today.
I go to school with a bunch of latinos in a swine flu infested area...For sure I'm getting the swine flu shot.
So Latinos are to blame for the pending epidemic?

I heard that people who get flu shots yearly have a higher probabililty of getting Alzheimer's, too.

I do not fall into any of the dangerous categories. I am young and my immune system works fine. I see no reason to waste money and a shot on someone like myself.

Yep, you probably don't need it. Just have the decency to stay in until a day or so after your fever breaks if you do get sick so you don't help spread it around.

Maybe I'm just lazy but when I'm fever-ridden I stay home for as long as it takes. Your point about spreading the disease is pretty valid considering how many times I catch people sneezing into their hands or without covering.

And then they just go get another flu shot.
