EA games always seem to get a $39.99 sale pretty quick these days, though this is perhaps even faster than usual. Remember that Alice: Madness Returns comes with the original Alice as online pass DLC, so it's two games in one!

I bought Alice for $59.99 and used a $50 Futureshop Gift Card. I still have the receipt and it's been less than a month... how does their price protection work in a case like that? $20 back on a giftcard?

I believe so; they would most likely credit back the difference to the original method of payment (in this case the gift card). I suppose you could argue to get back whatever amount you paid with another method first, if you don't want the gift card credit.

Cool, thanks. I'll probably put it towards Shadows of the Damned anyway, so I don't really care how I get the money back.

I'm thinking about Alice Returns / Shadow of the Damned / EDF:IA but I don't know if I'll be able to play them soon. How likely would I be able to find them for say $20 - $30 in the next 6 months - 1 year?

Shadows of the Damned already down to $40?! that just breaks my heart. Got it full price day one, and even though I wouldn't have it any other way, it still knocks me when I see a game as great as that not doing well (I assume, I mean, why bring down the price that fast). Hopefully now more people consider it - it really is a great game. Suda51's work shouldn't go unnoticed.

We saw Portal 2 go on sale for $40 pretty quickly (though not THIS quickly) and it was selling great. Sadly, the early sales reports for Shadows of the Damned look terrible. Which sucks. This means we'll either see tons of copies for cheap in relatively short order, or it will disappear entirely. Being an EA-published title, I'm guessing there'll be product around for some time. It's also too bad because it means that they'll be less likely to take a risk on publishing such a game in the future. I wonder what sort of budget this kind of game has...

Did an ISPU for Alice, Shadows of the Damned and Medal of Honor at Best Buy

Go go gadget price matching (at least on MoH, Alice and Shadows will probably be the same price at BB)
This might not be the right place to ask this but anyone know if i can use a US 2800 points card on my xbox account ?
You should call Xbox support, but chances are you won't be able to use it. I think only Gold membership cards are region-free.

These days, it's not worth buying an EA game on Day 1 here in Canada. It will be on sale for $40 somewhere 3-4 weeks later. Maybe I'll buy NCAA Football 2012 when it goes that route.
Videogameplus.ca is offering The First Templar for $19.99.

Bad reviews, but if you are interested :D
My wife and I are playing through First Templar right now. I think it got a bad rap review wise. There are some minor bugs, and the graphics aren't up to par for this generation of consoles, but those gripes aside, we really enjoy it.

The story is actually quite good. Its almost the opposite side of the story in assassins creed. The gameplay is solid, if you like the 3rd person action RPG genre, and there is a decent amount of depth available in character customization.

On top of that, it's very long for a linear game. We're up to ten hours so far and we haven't felt that there has been any padding or filler really. There is a bit of exploring if you're interested in collectibles for achievements, and some side quests, but for the most part it's a pretty direct experience.

Bear in mind I got my two copies from the library, so it cost me nothing, but having played it a bit, I'd definitey pick it up for $20 a pop!

Wait a second ... you can get games from the library?!? I'll have to check mine ... I'm pretty sure they didn't offer that last time I was there ...

The Ottawa Library has games to borrow 1 week at a time but they come with security strips on the disc which imbalance the disc. It sounds like a freight engine when the game is running. Not a problem with a 360 game though you just rip it to the 360 hard drive and game away.

looking to buy a new PS3 system, can someone direct me to the best current deal out there ?

The Staples thing is crap, only games marked for clearance (with a 7 at the end of the price) are on sale. Only titles I saw were bargain bin trash that should have been below $10 in the first place.

actually pretty much 90% of all games, within 1-2 months of their release will go down to $40 at one point. Then back up in price...SotD isn't special and will do the same
Any sign of the Best Buy flyer yet?
hey Princess Zelda, I bought this Lego at my local Walmart, it was 50% off if... it was $30 instead of $60... Legos rarely go on sale, I jumped on it :D

I'm very much aware of that (why else would I be on this forum if I weren't looking to save money on games I want) but my point remains - and 2 weeks is quite quick wouldn't you say.
Because it was free on the psn for the past month.
Yes well, presumably, if someone is buying a new PS3 there's a strong chance that they weren't able to take advantage of the free PSN version, right?

Yup, exactly what I was getting at.

Thank I"ll try and look for it today that's the one my other son wanted for his birthday in September :D

Isn't Wal-Mart one of those chains that tend to actually price Lego above the MSRP?

Anyways, not sure how relevant this is to most of you, but Shoppers Drug Mart has bonus redemption Saturday and Sunday - 50k for $100 and 95k for $200. No video game deals but on the off-chance one of you are looking for a DSi several stores I've seen have had their own DSi sales for $130.

inFamous is an incredible game, but I think the gist was that it's older now, and can be picked up from anywhere $10-20. It would be nice to see some better bundles released. They're usually so hit or miss.

Made out like a bandit this week.

Alice: Madness Returns, Shadows of the Damned, Medal of Honor (all price matched at Best Buy), plus a copy of Vanquish, and a $20 PSN card, for $90.

Add in my copy of Crysis 2 from a couple weeks ago, my backlog, and the stuff I have coming from Zavvi (I figured I'd give them a shot) and I'm gonna be veeeeeeeeery busy for a while lol

How did your total come to $90? I thought even price matched alice and shadows of the damn after tax would come to a total of $80

That's a fair point. I got the impression he was talking about Welcome Back, which is not relevant to new owners.

I was at Staples today on Regent in WPG, and they had some decent games. I saw Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2, Dead Rising 2, Castlevania, Fallout New Vegas ($19.97 sticker price, so it would be $15), Your Shape, Homefront and more that I can't remember. Worth taking a look at your local Stapes, just in case.

I had a $31.62 gift card from a pair of busted headphones, and a bunch of visa gift cards with anywhere from 30 cents to $2 on them

I should've specified my total cash out of pocket was $90

I just stopped by my local Staples and they had such stellar deals as Castlevania for $49.97 and Dead Rising 2 for $29.97! (Also known as regular price or higher at any decent store.) My Staples is pretty much always terrible though, so hopefully others will have better luck.
