Debating whether or not to buy Alan Wake, it seems like a good deal.
wait. it will drop alot more soon.

I know I'm in the minority, but Alan Wake was a huge letdown for me. I wish I'd waited until it was near the $25 mark before I had picked it up

Alan Wake was also a very huge disappointment for me as well. From that trailer I saw at E3 2009 (I believe it was E3 '09) it reminded me so much of Silent Hill 2 one of my favorite games of all time. I was really looking forward to it only to be massively let down.

I am so glad I rented it and for those interested I think Alan Wake for $40 is overpriced.

I find that WalMart has some really good cheap PSP games. I found some pretty good games like Half-Minute Hero and FF Tactics in the bargain bins before!

Personally I loved Alan Wake. It's one of my favorite games of the year. I paid full price for it when it came out and don't regret it. It does seem to be one of those love it or hate it games.

Also, Silent Hill 2 is probably the best horror game ever made so it's a bit of a lofty goal for any game to match or better it.

I should probably get around to Alan Wake. Bought a new copy off someone from Craigslist for $40 and kept it lying around because I'm horrible.

Max Payne 1 & 2 were easily among my top games last gen, they were almost the perfect shooter experiences. So I'm curious how Alan Wake compares in terms of raw experience.
Anyone know if the 25% applies to games at $20? NMH2 is $20, last I checked.
+1... is it $20 and under or under $20?

lol, exactly... There's no way that Alan Wake could've come close to being as great as Silent Hill 2... Silent Hill 2 was a game that only a Japanese dev could've made, imho.

Not to say that I didn't enjoy Alan Wake. I really did, and will be the start of a promising franchise. But you can't compare to SH2... Apples and oranges.

Alan Wake was a huge disappointment for me. Mainly because I was interested in this way back when they revealed the game's gorgeous graphics with the promise of being a psychological thriller or whatever. But then they added stupid shadow enemies where you have to shine lights on them... ugh. I was hoping for a real adventure game without the awkward action elements. The camera gave me motion sickness. I'm fine with other shooters, first-person, third-person, action games, adventure games, etc. but this game's swinging camera, motion-blurring and having Alan Wake so close to the screen made me dizzy.

I only bought it day 1 at $70 because of the story. I didn't want to be spoiled and wanted to join in on the initial discussions. Totally wasn't worth it and I'm so ashamed of myself for not waiting for $20.

Saw it for $14.83 today in one of those Wal-Mart clearance racks. Likely falls under the 25% off deal.
Anyone familiar with these wal-mart sales? Is it still worth it if I go late in the afternoon?
it could be worth it but it might be crazy with the lines and people though if you mean late afternoon as in like 3-6 it might be better than going in the evening

Probably depends on what you're looking for. And it's hard to say at this time of year.

The 25% off often runs around Boxing Day (although it might be 50 then). I've found games I've wanted without ever arriving early.

The Xbox, who knows. Even in the most hoard-y areas they've probably got a fair amount of stock... probably enough to last a good day or so. But I really have no idea.

I got my first Xbox in a Walmart anniversary deal... they had them in stock for at least a couple of days then... at least they did at my local store.

Thanks Zelda, picked up a $35 pink wiimote plus from Walmart. I always appreciate the thread, even if we just started receiving flyers on my street this week. The fact that you don't put your name in the title means a lot :)

RCSS (West)
Coupon for $5 off $19.99+ games
S&P2, SMG2, MKWii $10 off
MKDS, Wario DIY, DQIX, Pokemon HG $5 off

Should be able to stack the coupon.

Thread on RFD talked about hot deals on some accessories at Loblaws. check it out
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/great-deals-loblaws-ymmv-xbox-360-controlers-more-pictures-944957/

I went to the Loblaws in Laval, the one on Concorde East.

I saw all those accesories on sale. I wanted a Black "Classic Controller Por" for the Wii.
The black one was regular price (24.99$) and the white ones where on sale for 12.64$.

So I take the white one, go to the register, it scans at 24.99$
thread-sad-16.png

I tell the cashier, she checks. then she corrects the price on the register and give me 10$ off because of the pricing error !

In the end, I got a White Classic Controller Pro for the Wii for 2.64$ +tx !

Let the hoarding begin !

of Course YMMV

Grabbed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind bluray for 5 bucks. I have to say, this is the most barebones bluray I've ever seen. Not even a menu, movie starts right away. No special features, nothing. The audio setup is a popup menu haha. It's almost like a VHS in 1080p!

Also, a bunch of good games scan between 14 and 15 dollars, I can confirm FFIV DS and No More Heroes 2.

Thank You. I was able to pick up No More Hero's 2 and re-bought Star Wars The Force Unleashed I'm happy for $15 each at Walmart.

iIT clearly says that games at 20$ do not qualify, its under 20$.
Some people reported NMH2 so maybe it dropped under 20$ recently

My receipt says $14.99 and the big blue stickers on the front say $20.00.

Any feedback on the headset guys? I'm thinking about it, as I'm thinking about getting MAG and communication looks super super critical for that game.

Got:
Metal Slug Anthology Wii
Harvest Moon: Rune Factory 2
(for 15 each after discount before tax, both marked 20.oo flat btw)

Sam and Max season 2 for 11.11 (14.xx)

Dragon Quest Swords
A Boy and his Blob Wii (both 18.xx before discount)

Konami Arcade Classics (the one with Castlevania)
Let's Tap (both for 7.50, 10.oo before discount).

This should cover at least three people in terms of what they want.

Does Walmart carry the 250 gb HDs for the slim 360s? With my current 360 circling the drain I'm weighing my options, and that $50 card with the slim might be decent if the drives aren't too ridiculously expensive on their own. It'd certainly be nice to be able to install games!

Well go figure, I guess they dont follow their own fineprint :applause:

I think the stipulation of the sale is "If it's found in their bargain bin standee, it'll be 25% off", which means the current sale for Ironman 2 games (10-20 bucks) aren't part of the sale. It's well within their guidelines; though somehow 25 dollar game sneak in there, but those are really bargain bins they have yet to mark down yet (and likely won't give you 25% off).

I was at Walmart today to pickup Iron Man 2. I saw Resident Evil 5 (360) in the bulk out (Under $20) display, so I did a price check it came up to $19.83.
