I am proposing to my girlfriend of 6 months on Christmas Eve morning. I assume for most this is way too soon but she moved in with me on October 1 and even before then I knew I wanted to marry her. I bought the ring the third week of September and received her parents and grandparents blessings. Anyway, we plan on exchanging our presents on Christmas Eve before we head up to her parents place later on that day. I was planning on her opening her presents first...oh and btw she has a notion that the proposal might be happening (accidentally overheard her talking to a friend of hers the other day). but no ring will be presented, then I will open up my presents and then wait for 30 minutes. Then I will say something like, "I believe there is something else for you". I will bring out another present that is a wrapped large box. When she unwraps and opens up the box, there will be a Zales Holiday Teddy Bear. The bear holds a wrapped christmas container that will contain the ring inside. I will then get on one knee and do it. Anyway, I was wondering how you proposed or how you were proposed to. Wish me luck!

Good luck.. sounds pretty romantic. Her heart will melt. Good plan. Even leaving enough time after all the presents are open for her to mentally convince herself that it's not happening. Nice work.

My fiance is not as smooth, and we were on time constraints, and we both knew it was coming, so it's not one of those 'awwww how sweet' moments or anything, but something he said afterwards still makes me melt because as goofy as the proposal was, I knew it was heartfelt.

Short backstory: He and I have been in a long distance relationship since June 2002. He lives in London, England, I live in Ohio. We knew after a year or two that we were going to go the distance and researched the options and the only one that fit us was him coming here on a fiance visa, which means we have to be engaged before he comes here and marry within 90 days of him entering the states. So we weren't expecting to do the 'suprise, here's a ring I got you' thing.

He was here for the summer in 2004, and we put ring shopping off till last minute, not remembering it takes time to resize. We bought a cheap ring set ($400ish, nothing fancy, which is fine by me, I'd rather spend my money on video games than expensive jewelry.), but found out that we wouldn't have it back in time for him to propose to me before he went home. So, we got home, and I found the set my father (now deceased) gave my mother when he proposed, and gave it to Adam if he still wanted to propose at some point.

He was antsy the next few days, and I didn't know why. I figured he was just getting nervous about going home. After a few days, I started to think he wasn't going to do anything at all-- he is the hopelessly bashful type who has tons of great ideas but never thinks they're good enough, so never follows through.

So one afternoon I decide to go make lunch for us, and walk in the kitchen. He comes out too. He hugs me from behind, and I feel a sharp pain on my shoulder. I go 'Ow! What the hell?' and proceeded to tell him that he scratched me. Then I saw he had the ring in his hand and shut up, and he asked me to marry him. In my kitchen. I laughed and said yes, feeling stupid for yelling at him, him feeling stupid for injuring me while proposing.

Shortly after he explained to me that he knew that wasn't romantic, and he was sorry, but he just 'Couldn't wait to ask me to be his wife'. He'd wanted to several times since I gave him the ring-- He had it in bed with us once but couldn't find the right time, he had plans to do it the night before some other way, but things just kept not working out. That's why he'd been antsy the last few days. He just really wanted to ask me. And things were calm for the next day or two before he had to go home.

Thanks jezebelseven for sharing that. Its been killing me to not break down and propose already. I have had this ring since the 3rd week of September. I live in Delaware so we went to Bethany Beach in October and stayed at a oceanfront view hotel for a 3 day getaway. I did not bring the ring down to the beach because at the time it was a few sizes smaller and I wanted to put the ring on her finger. I also thought the forecasted weather may make the trip a washout. Well the forecast was completely wrong...it wasn't perfect weather but close enough....mid 60's ....no rain, etc. We had an amazing time. Her mom and grandmother called on the last day and wanted to know if I proposed. Recently we have been watching a cable show, "Whose wedding is it anyway? (or something like that). Almost every show she has been balling and I will admit it I came close too at times myself! Like I said its been killing me but its only a few days away.
