400,000 people in the US would purchase a pile of dog shit if it had a Sony logo on it. A system's success can only be fairly judged on how well it sells when units are well stocked not when people are clamouring to hawk them on E-Bay.
 
Yeah it's a garentee that 400,000 units would be sold out in no time. Nintendo had 1,000,000 and most places (if not all) sold out.

There's no way it hell it won't sell out at launch. There's no way in hell it won't sell a million or even two million total. The real battle comes when you can walk in any store and get them.

lol ya....mm PS3 will obviously sell out with so few units...but I think it's gunna blow the Wii away unlike what many think. Most people aren't afraid to shove down a couple hundred more if their kid begs enough.

It's impossible for it to blow away the Wii through the first part of next year as they won't have enough units to do so.

I'm more interested to see, once they start getting hardware supplied to retailers, is how the PS3's pace compares with the 360's similarly-crippled-through-lack-of-product sales pace. Which was the heavier hitter? The Playstation name or the first "next-gen" to the market?
 
The second there is raw data, we care. Predicitions are not really an "accurate" telling of performance.

And hey, how many times have you taken an online survey and maybe just answered the question you felt was the "best" answer and not the one you WANTED to pick? Too many times. The deviation on this is likely insane.

If you look at the games that are being released.... like Madden(EA), Ridge Racer(namco) and Resistance Fall of Man(insomniac), Sonic(Sega), these companies, make good games, and you can't say that any of their games failed to deliver quality gameplay.
So many people want to try and resell the ps3 to make more money, because they know, that people WANT the system and they will pay more than just 600 dollars (a price that a lot of people said was too high in the first place) The fact that the Wii isn't going to sell any systems at 3 to 4 times it's price indicates that may it isn't as wanted, as some people think it is. Being sold on ebay for 3 times your price says that you're a "MUST HAVE" item, even if both the Wii and PS3 lauched with over 1 million units you'd still see PS3 units being sold on ebay for 3/4 times its worth.

Being sold on eBay for three or four times its value doesn't make something a must-have item; it was completely expected that the PS3 would sell for this much on eBay, just as the XBox 360 did.
