For those that own one, what's your HONEST opinion of your PSP?

The system itself is tight, the mp3 and video compatable leaves alittle bit to be desired, mainly the video which is hard to pull off and rip to your PSP. They should have included some sort of program to make it easier.

While it's a portable MP3 and Media player you still have to take in effect memory card prices, which can be pricey.

The system itself is very nice graphics and handling wise, It's just needs a few more killer games.

Is it worth $250? Probably not as a barebones package, but if you can find a deal through a friend or eBay go for it. I got my package with a 256 memory unit, one game and some accessories and I found it was worth the price almost. I'm just waiting for some more games, preferably MVP baseball because It would be very nice to play MVP on the go, and Midnight Club 3 DUB edition is shaping up to be nice to boot. But I'm also waiting for the rpgs to kick in, and for September to hit so I can have Burnout on the go.

Does it top the GBA? No, graphics don't make a system, the GBA had so many good games It will be awhile before the PSP can get as much content, if ever, that the GBA had in terms of quality games. Is it the best looking handheld on the market? Yes, the graphics are hot, the controls are pretty good, the sound is hot, and the ability to play movies and music on the go is hot to.

Does it top the DS? Right now I would say YES
1) If you already own a GBA, don't pick up a DS yet, theres not enough games (imho) to warrant the purchase, outside of Feel the Magic and Mario 64 DS (but that will all change by the end of the year, trust me) . As of right now the PSP has good advantage over the DS in terms of games, but this is only PSP versus DS in terms of games, the GBA still owns the PSP in that respect.

2) The graphics, as stated before, are gorgeous and (so far) have put the DS to shame (although I have yet to see Need for Speed Underground 2 in action for the DS, I hear it looks very nice) . But you get what you pay for, the PSP is alot more, and the batteries don't last as long because of the graphical power.

3) It has other options: Mp3 playback, movie playback, etc. More bang for your buck.

There are other reasons to own a PSP but I rather not rant on forever. Right now I would say the PSP is easily worth $150 by itself, but I can't recommend it for $250 if your just getting the core system and no games. If your going to spend $250 on it, try to get a game with it (through bargaining, ebay, or a friend, whatever) and perhaps a extra memory stick. Then it's worth it.

Edit: Sorry im half asleep, typos and gramERROR city

I'm very happy with mine. It's exactly what I thought it'd be, flaws and all. I knew about all the supposed problems with it beforehand and I figured the coolness would overshadow those problems for me, and I was right. It's actually better than I thought because alot of the "problems" that were being talked about about before it's release were just shit that was overblown by Nintendo fanboys. No square button problems whatsoever. No flying UMDs. The battery life could be longer, but it hasn't been a problem for me because I haven't been on any super long flights or anything since I've gotten it. My only real problem with it is that it gets so dirty so quickly when it gets played. But, it's well worth the trouble of wiping it off every now and then because I get to play games like Lumines and Hot Shots Golf.

It's also been awesome because my girlfriend got one too, and she loves hers even more than I love mine. I had been trying to get her into games for awhile, so it kicks ass that she finally is.

Now, they just need to announce a Ratchet and Clank game for it at E3.

EDIT: As far as all the comparisons you guys are making in this thread:

It's kind of ridiculous to compare PSP and GBA. It's like comparing SNES to PS2. Right now, the GBA is "better" because it has more good games, but I'm sure PSP will end up with a pretty big library when all is said and done. Both systems are great, IMO. (Just to illustrate the point, all I've been been doing lately when I play video games is switch between Hot Shots Golf and Pokemon Emerald.)

Right now, all I've been using my DS for is GBA games and Wario Ware. But when fall rolls around, I have a feeling my DS is gonna make me ignore all my other systems.

It's a good system that has potential, but I imagine that this potential will only be realized and feasible for the short term. It just seems like a narrow-minded approach to portable gaming. Sony has to be pro-active in their firmware upgrades, internet infrastructure, and the games have to come. The item is still too basic for what it espouses to be, the end all be all of gaming. Yes, there are some good gaming experiences now, but they are only and simply put good. With the exception of Lumines, there is nothing that is a must-play. Again, the potential is there...but my expectations for Sony are low with the PS3 around the corner. The PSP just seems like it is a stop gap for the bottom line. We shall see. I'm unloading all of me PSP games except for Lumines.

I returned mine within a week. It's pretty as all hell, but as shallow as a French hooker.

I actually had an opportunity to play almost all of the games that typically interest me in that my local Blockbuster was renting games out and I was greatly dissappointed. The selection both present and future is heavily in favor of the DS IMO. Ridge Racer and Lumines were the only games I was able to even remotly enjoy and still I found myself playing the DS much more. Anyway....long story short....the DS has a stronger lineup both now and in the future and that's what I'm basing my opinion on. The PSP is a very powerful handheld but in the end it wasn't for me. THe DS may not look as good, but I like the games better.

For the 250 that I spent its really nice, and the screen in awesome. The only beef I have with mine is that the analog stick makes my hand hurt when playing Ridge Racer. That and the UMD door seems kind of cheap, I was expecting it to be metal or something, not plastic.
