I used this replacement plan at BB once before when my xbox was giving the DDEs. They sent me a check for $200 and some change for tax (which is what the box originally cost). Bought a new xbox for $150 + a new replacement plan $25? + a $20 game.

Does anyone plan or know if it would work again for the 360? Since it is supposed to be backwards compatible, I was thinking of sending the "defective" xbox back and spending the check they send me on a 360...plus replacement plan of course. It would knock $150 off the price of the 360.

Yes it should work. Since its the same replacement play type program that CC has then you'll get back the money you spend on the XBox plus tax.

This is a case of when those replacement plans DO come in handy indeed. :D

I thought that with the BB replacement plan, they only replaced the product that is "defective." Since I have the replacement plan also, I can take it in, say it's not working, and then when they tell me to go ahead and grab another one, I can just say "nah, I'll take the cash/store-credit instead"??

technically at Best Buy for a replacement plan you are spose to call the 1-800 number in the brochure and get the vochure that way. So if you just want store credit then that is the way to do it, otherwise if you go instore you will get a new game system.

BB actually has at least two types of plans. One is for computers, digital cameras, etc. This service happens in store. The other is for lower cost items that they don't want to bother with servicing. This second type is what sells with game consoles. You have to call them and request a mailing label (and wait a few weeks), pack up the product yourself, mail it to them, (wait a few MORE weeks) and you get a BB voucher in the mail usable at any BB B&M. I'm not sure, but I really don't think that they bother with inspecting your product. They've made the process of shipping it so time consuming that they probably don't get many people using the replacement plans they purchased.

Still, the process works. It has saved me from one DDEing Xbox and I bought one with my recent slim PS2 purchase. It's actually fun to immediately agree to the service plan when they start the hard sell. It took the guy at least 20 seconds of my violent nodding and double thumbs-up to understand that I actually wanted it.

lol... sounds about right. Anyways, that's cool bout the replacement plan. I got one for my PS2 slim, so assuming the PS3 is backwards compatible, I may "trade up" a few months before the replacement plan expires. :D Thanks for the info!

whats nuts is i got one of those PC plans. I only paid 700 for a complete pc (minus the printer) so it had a 15 inch flat screen and the Tower. Well the power button broke and get ahold of this. Instead of saying We will give you say 500 bucks credit they repaired the system for 558 bucks this is a 2 year old system not even worth 300 bucks and they paid 558 to repair it LOL

You need to verify the extent of the 360's backwards compatibility before you start your little scamola. The backwards compatability looks to be sketchy at best.

Actually no its not a "scamola." These replacement plans were designed for times like this when a new system is out and the old one had a replacement plan that is pretty close to ending. ;)

Nothing wrong with that. Everyone wins as the customer gets to uptrade to the new system while ditching the old one. The store gets to sell TWO replacement plans over a period of time as well. Again, everyone wins. :D
