I was at my local Gamestop yesterday, and they have gotten in the Limited Edition DVD for those who reserved it, so if you are looking to save some money but still get the bonus you could pick it up now, then cancel your order and buy it on outpost.com for 39.99 which is what I am thinking of doing.

But here's the problem: pretty much any preorder is going to be full price, and we can get almost any game at least $5 cheaper.

can the $5 applied to non-preorders? that is, in-stock items?
 
I went to my Gamestop a few weeks ago and picked up the Bonus DVD. The guy told me that they would call when Xenosaga II arrives, and when I go in, if I didn't like the Bonus DVD, I could transfer my $5 for store credit on anything in store (or preorders) ... and the DVD was mine to keep.

So you should be able to just transfer your five bucks to anything else in the store.

Yup, picked mine up today, however I seemed to have lost my reserve slip, hopefully they can still give me my $5 credit towards it, but also when i picked it up they wrote on my slip got disk in their files for some reason, probably to prevent me from gettin 5.

Last thing I got for preordering was the Fable bonus disc, they gave it to me the day I preordered and just let me walk out with it. I'm pretty sure if I had wanted to I could have gone back at a different time/different employee and gotten myself a second copy at least. Seems to be YMMV depending on how much your local staff cares.
Regarding Xenosaga, my local Gamestop didn't have any disks so I'm just going to wait for my copy from ebgames.com to come in.

Yes, at least the guys at my gamestop let me apply it to anything. Happened to me with a few games that looked good, but got shitty reviews.
 
Will be trying this out tonight. I haven't even beaten the first yet but hey a DVD for after, why not. Even if I can't get my money back after it's only a $5 loss. I don't plan on buying the actual game until there's a price drop because with the reviews it's getting compared to the first and the major price drops it saw there's no point in paying full price for me.
 
Gee, what a wonderful idea! Let's screw over people who actually plan on buying the game at the store by taking their bonus disks. :roll:
 
Looks good, but I still haven't finished the first one. May never, at this point, which makes me feel oddly guilty.
