"MeritLine.com has the USB 2.0 ALL-in-1 External Memory Card Reader/Writer for $13 - $6 code MM1190716OFF [Exp 12/6] = $7 with free shipping. Good that they dispensed with the increasingly futile numbering scheme for the number of supported formats."

edit:

all I can say is wow  ... I thought this was pretty self-explanatory as is but even after masterh explained it
This will let you read and write to SD cards... so, like, for Excite Truck, if you wanna put some mp3s on your SD card and play them in the game, this is the way to do it from your PC. VERY nice price!
some of you still don't get it.

The reason I put this deal up is that it I personally needed one to read/write to/from my SD card and figured I'm not the only one. The reasons I wanted it were to put .jpgs .mp3s, & .mov(ie)s on it and also to copy the save games over to my pc.

post scriptum: I came across this on WiiCade.com thought some of you might want to check it out WiiSave.com ... do I need to explain this? ... j/k sorry if I confused any of you.

Wii USB ports as of now have no use most likely until the Opera Release which will probabbly give it some capatability with mouse/keyboard and will not be implemented until later.

PS3 pretty much has a built in All in One Reader.

For a better deal goto frys they're usually 4.99 - 7.99 price range or free after rebate

Not a wii deal but maybe a PC deal

Well the Wii already has an integrated SD card reader, so this additional card reader probably does not work and is unnecessary.. for SD at least.

Forget MP3s and stuff, would this allow you to trade saves over the internet? That's a much more compelling use, but I don't know if saves are locked to a Wii's ID. Nintendo may have inadvertently initiated what MS hates with things like the HDD transfer cables.

For me, my computer has a card reader and my camera uses SD cards . . . I don't need anything.

If you have a computer without a card reader, you could use this to move files from your SD card to your PC (and vice versa). Also, if you want to use the "Photo Channel" (which is a lot of fun) you could move pics from another card type to a SD card and then put it in your Wii.

So, this type of accessory for a PC could be useful with a Wii.

Well, if you say it's "for Wii" then it shouldn't surprise you if people misunderstand you. After all, people really are using USB card readers with the PS3. But anyway, if you don't have an SD card reader for your computer, you will need one in order to put photos or music on the card and use them in your Wii, so I guess this is as good as any. I don't think it's a particularly great bargain or anything -- these cheap readers crop up all the time.

Wow, this was a painful thread to read through.

But thanks OP. I was actually looking for one of these (on the cheap) for my Wii this past weekend. I almost bit on a $10, SD only, reader.

Now I'm extra happy. Wii, PSP, and Camera all covered.

Picked it up, been looking for a reader that can read XD and SD (since my camera is XD and I obviously have SD for Wii) Thanks!

Thanks a lot OP. I was in need of one of these as well! It's an added bonus that it can read lots of other card types.

Thanks!

Thanks OP!!! A reader like that for $7 is a steal. Plus it was awesome to be able to go to a website I've never been to before and just buy something, no "make an account there" BS.

In it for one, thanks. Finally will be able to (for cheap) d/l individual photos off my memory card without needing to plug in my camera.

Probably stupid question but: This will work on my Mac right?

EDIT: Um, another stupid question: Where do I input the coupon code?

Whether or not it will work on a Mac isn't a stupid question. Well... for a newer Mac it probably is. But my Mac is over five years old and had to be retrofitted with a 3rd party USB 2.0 card a few years back, and I have had some peripheral compatibility issues in the past.

They sent me the same email this morning, I asked for me money back. Did anyone actually get it?

I checked on the status of my order, and it says that I should be getting the OOS email - but I haven't received it yet.

For those of you who received the email, what day did you order it? What about those of you who received it?

I ordered mine on Mon, Dec 4th
It shipped on Thurs, Dec 7th
and arrived on Fri, Dec 8th

I've only been able to try it on WinXP & WinME both times it was found and set itself up automatically. It says cd-rom(driver software and user's manual) on the back of the packaging but there was none. The package wasn't even big enough for 12cm disc.

I still haven't received an email, so I just called their offices. The lady was extremely polite and informed me that the item was indeed on back order. She did confirm, however, that the item would be back in stock tomorrow and that it'd be in the mail shortly thereafter.

It's a good thing I called, because I was just about to bite on an ebay auction for a similar item.

Got mine today...sweet, it comes with a free USB extender cable (although its kinda short), this shall save me some of the hassle of trying to find the USB ports in the dark evil place that is behind my desk.
