I'm reading all these user reviews and critics reviews and its making me feel horrible about how this is gonna be.

Luckily I actually enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever which was also very critically panned so hope I can enjoy this too. Plus almost any game can be fun with coop so it'll be about finding other people to play with
 
Deadlight is done! Not the best game, I'd much rather play Limbo or Braid or a number of other platformers, but aside from a couple of bugs (falling through the floor) at the end and the last 10 minutes being a little ridiculous on what it expects from you, I did have at least enough fun.
 
So I'm not sure if I want to continue with Underrail. On the one hand, it's immediately grabbing. This is definitely in the vein of Fallout and the like. I know I'll like it. I'm just not sure I want to play it while it's incomplete. This might be one best to put off until release.

Nice.

I did put some more time into Underrail today. I then contacted the developer to see if there is a manual or something with some flavor text to establish a background and setting. The game is sparse on flavor. It needs various things lying around that a player can read. It needs more NPCs that can provide snippets of information. It's good at telling me what I need to go do, but not so good at getting me to feel like I should want to do that.

On the plus side I didn't see bugs. The interface is clear and usable. The gameplay and mechanics are very clean at this Alpha stage. That's a very good sign. Now hopefully as it moves into beta and release the story gets properly fleshed out.

Owing to my time commitments lately, that's probably just as well. I'm not sure how much game time I'll be able to fit in. But maybe picking some games will motivate me to finish them, even being so busy.

I vote for Dishonored, Mark of the Ninja, Dust and I am Alive. With your limited gaming time I wanted to only pout one game that could turn into a time sink (Dishonored) even though it can also be beaten quickly as well.


Also started Aliens CM coop with a buddy of mine. Its really not as great as I (and every other Aliens fan) had been hoping but its a serviceable, hectic coop shooter. Looking forward to trying it with more than 2 humans playing to see if the difficulty gets ramped up and because I imagine humans will be much smarter than the partner AI

Dust (because it's not a PC game and I don't own a 360 but I'm genuinely curious to hear about it)

Broken Sword (Love a good adventure game, says the guy currently playing Murder She Wrote :lol:)

Mark of the Ninja (btw I really should play that myself)

Dishonored (ditto the above and for 90% of my games)
 
I will third Mark of the Ninja. I had a hard time picking up Dishonored after playing that, maybe because they are both stealth games, so I am going to say Dust, Broken Sword, and Far Cry 3 for the others.

Been slacking off with Bioshock 2 since when I managed to grab an Xbox wired controller, so I've been doing all kind of stupid things in Sleeping Dogs... gotta pull myself together and start working on some story missions here and there, at least!

I hope the controller will help me return to Deadlight too, as bad keyboard controls was one of the excuses I made up in my mind to commit myself to other games in my list. I'm torn about that one: atmosphere and environments are top notch, but gameplay started to feel dull after a handful of minutes... I felt the same with Limbo's second half, but Deadlight was like this right from the start. Anyway, I'll man up and reach the end of this bad boy too :cool:

The gameplay of Deadlight really is pretty meh, but the story and everything was pretty solid I thought, so that kinda made up for it. Luckily its only like 2 hours long too, but if you really hate it I can pick something else for you.

Also been playing a little more Aliens, and its actually growing on me a bit so thats surprising.

Thanks for the picks, guys. :) Thankfully there was plenty of consensus, which makes this easier. The 4 I'll be going with are:

1. Dust: An Elysian Tail
2. Broken Sword
3. Mark of the Ninja
4. Dishonored
Bonus Round: Far Cry 3

Since I'm about 1/2-way through Dust, And have a fair amount of progress in Far Cry 3, I've made that a bonus 5th game. I'll try to remember to post a more thorough review when I'm done with Dust, Motoki, but general impressions so far are very very positive. The animation is spectacular. If/when a PC port comes, I'll Day 1 it again.
 
Arg. Shank will be the death of me. I love the graphics, storyline, etc. But these controls make me want to punch a baby. I'd love the game if it wasnt for them. Its taken me forever to finish.

Absolutely not! Controller did really make the difference, so I'm planning to jump on and finish it between a fight club match and a karaoke evening in Sleeping Dogs... that game truly made me wish for a Mafia III packed with the same amount of activities!

Nice job! I have heard that the controls in 2 are better. I actually suggested that game because it was the same people who made Mark of the Ninja, which was really awesome, and I figured those would be cool.
 
I played Shank and Shank 2 basically back to back during end of December/Beginning of January and thought they were pretty cool. The controls could get pretty annoying, but the style and graphics were right on.

I started Machinarium last night and it makes me feel pretty stupid at times. It says I've logged 78 minutes, but I definitely didnt make that much progress. And I'm only playing Colonial Marines coop so the progress on that depends on getting on the right schedule with friends, and I havent played Batman in a little while but that game is so good, I gotta start making a serious dent in this thing.
 
Well, on level 8 of 11 on FEAR and enjoying it. I think my only gripe is the lack of variety in weapons. Seems like I've been using the same set of weapons for most of the game. I guess it's realistic to an extent, but at the same time this is a game about the supernatural so I don't need to live the lie of limited weapon choices. Almost done with Gemini Rue, great game.
 
Just finished Machinarium. Got stuck quite a few times and definitely used a walkthrough on quite a few points. Theres just some puzzles I would have never gotten on my own. On to playing more Aliens and Batman to try and finish off the 4
 
Deadlight is unexpectedly growing on me: despite some funky platforming, the story smells of win and really pushes me to go on. I really dig the Walking Dead-esque style adopted during cutscenes, too. I'm almost at the end of Act 2 and I've been told that there are 3 acts in total, so I hope to complete it by tomorrow at the latest.

One of my gripes is that the game feels put together in a hurry: some levels are rather well spread and deserve a certain degree of exploration, while others are short and crammed with unlockables "hidden" a few pixels apart from one another. I wasn't obviously expecting a full fledged Metroidvania with zombies, but I kinda wish they'd put the same level of care and effort in level design as they did while crafting its lore and environments...
 
Glad you're starting to enjoy the game Junpei. I'm really enjoying Batman and Aliens, and may actualy get a little more time today after work to put into them. As a bonus game for myself I am trying to also beat Assassin's Creed Liberation on the Vita, and for the next month challenge (March Metagames?, Mad Dash in March?, whatever it ends up) I think I will try to toss in a console game into my 4 as well (maybe save Dead Space 3 for that actually)
 
My vote goes to Mowing March and Achieving April ;)

And yes, I'm totally up for console games this time: my XBLA backlog is HUGE and I want to chew onto Arkham City's story mode, so I think that I will include at least two Xbox games in my next list... let's show some console love! :D

Oh, I beat Deadlight too. I actually went the extra mile and searched for all collectibles (with the help of a guide here and there) but man, the last act really gave its best in terms of bad platforming and low reactivity... the only achievement I'm missing in which you need to complete the game from start to finish without dying is insane! However, the story held up well till the end, and while being very cliché it was entertaining to follow.

Overall, a fun game which can be very frustrating at times. I hope to hear more from Tequila Works soon... :)
 
yeah, I have gotten rid of most of my physical 360 and ps3 games but i have a decent digital backlog on both as well, so it will be good to get some of those out of the way.

Just finished Batman Arkham Asylum. Very good game, and looking forward to playing Arkham City, which will probably be for April. So that just leaves Colonial Marines to finish for the month, then maybe try to finish a bonus game
 
So I totally suck and haven't finished a one yet. I'll probably be able to get through Murder She Wrote and Blackwell and maybe Portal but Puzzle Quest has something close to 600 puzzles so probably not gonna happen and I'm pretty sure barring me moving to a deserted island tomorrow with electricity, a computer, no internet access and just that one game on my hard drive that Arcanum isn't going to happen either.

I really like the idea of this but I guess I am just a good collector of games but a lousy player of them. :oops:
 
I don't see myself getting above my 50% completion of this months goals. I haven't started Chronicles of Riddick, and Dustforce isn't really drawing me in the same way Super Meat Boy did. Hopefully I can free up some time in the next week to attempt at least one of them, but I think they both will end up in a "maybe some other time" pile that I never touch but can't let myself uninstall.

You mean Puzzler World?

I figured that one wasn't really a finish it sort of game, more of a nice change of pace for whatever else was going on.
 
Yes Puzzler World. That is what happens when you are rushing typing a reply while also rushing typing a reply on Reddit at the same time about how Puzzle Quest 2 is a decent game to use the NEW299 code on at Big Fish. :p
 
No big deal if you dont finish the games, I initially didnt think I'd get them all done (especially with Psychonauts as one of the games before) but Batman ended quicker than I thought and I totally cheated my way through Machinarium with a walkthrough whenever I got stuck at all, so barring any setbacks with getting together with my coop partner to play Aliens it looks like I'll get all 4 done. On the plus side, if you try as part of your four and dont like it at least you know and it can basically be mentally discarded from your backlog (why play something you wont enjoy right?)

I think I remember it taking a bit to get into when I played it on 360. Once I got pretty good at being stealthy and brawling, it got a lot better.

At this point, you have beaten 4 games, so Batman is extra.

Since I'm only playing Aliens Coop I needed something to play single player so I started Condemned Criminal Origins. Its not bad so far, kinda dated a little bit, but great atmosphere. Hoping to finish it and Aliens before the end of February
 
By the time I saw this thread, I had already finished 2 games in February, so I decided to do the challenge with games I picked. Proud to say I finished my 4 just an hour ago. They were Spec Ops: The Line, Sonic Generations, Borderlands 2, and Fallout New Vegas (The Mr. House Ending). For FO:NV, I started from the beginning and decided I'd be done once I finished the House ending since I had never played that one.

February was a good gaming month for me since school started out pretty slowly and I am taking less credits than normal.

Jesus, way to make everyone here look bad lol. New vegas and borderlands 2 are basically bigger than any other game played by anyone, and you beat them both
 
Okay, I'm in if someone needs a partner. All I ask is:

1) Don't pick a bad game to be a ****... I have a bunch that came with bundles that I don't want to play.
2) If they are part of a series, pick them in order, or just leave them. (IE: Don't pick Bioshock 2 without Bioshock 1... ME2 w/0 ME1 etc etc)

This will have to be for March, can't do 4 games in the next 7 days. :D

To be fair, FO: NV was mostly focused on the main story and a few relevant side plots. I think it was about 17-20 hours. But yeah, I had a lot of free time these past few weeks.
 
I think this is a good idea, but I'm going to just see how many games I can finish in the month of march. I figure I'll start with the shortest and work my way up to the longest. Should hopefully burn up a bunch of the indie games in my backlog if nothing else.
 
Finished up Aliens tonight. Actually started to really enjoy it towards the end so kinda sad to see it be over. Starting up something else coop tonight so maybe can get that done in February as well
 
Okay I am going to have to make a Detour because Raptr is giving away Dead Island if you have a high rank in another zombie game so I'm going to get started on Walking Dead.

Also, I kind of got hooked on a hidden object game from Big Fish that they gave me a free beta version on and then I bought the released when it came out, plus I've been trying to finish up The Cat Lady and I've been playing a tablet Match 3 game as well so yes I have been getting sidetracked.

I don't know that I'll get any of my Four/Five done but on the plus side I've in general been playing games more than usual lately so that's something.

I use the site. It is indeed scary to see how many games you have unbeaten, but I like it for the ability to see when I'm buying to many games. Here's mine:

I like the idea of trying to change up the challenge every month a bit, whether it's beat the most games, or maybe picking a few genres to beat in a month, or something. As a joke I was thinking for March we could have everyone play a game that involves some sort of political drama for the first half, then after the Ides of March befall us, we could switch over to straight out war games. Less genre specific, but something moreso focused on what kind of stories we could get each other to play. Either way, I'm carrying Chronicles of Riddick into the next month.

I like that idea a lot. It would be fun to have a group of games that a lot of us are going through, and including the Ides of March is fun, too.
