Free $10 electronic gift card from Walmart.com for Cancelled Pre-Orders
So Wal Mart posted a mistake, cancels the orders, which is completely fine, and posted on their website.

Pulled directly from their TOS...

"Order Acceptance
Please note that there may be certain orders that we are unable to accept and must cancel. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse or cancel any order for any reason."

How about Circuit City and their constant use of advertising something at a great price and having few or none in stock? "Buy COD4 get COD3 for free", Dual layer dvds on sale and having only one tiny rack of them.

So you bitch and moan about the cancellation, and yet almost every CAG on here knew it was going to get canceled. You lose 30 seconds of your time, Wal Mart gives you free $10 gift card, which you can use to buy any other current video game at current price, and you bitch and moan again.

I'm sorry but corporations don't have to lay down for you, nor should they. Do you bitch and complain about Xbox Live down and think they should give you 28 free 360's and four Playstation 3s? Wal Mart probably doesn't want you as a customer anyway. You're likely one of these people just looking for a frivilous lawsuit, you'd probably "trip" over a shirt that someone dropped in the clothing section, scratch your arm and sue for millions of dollars for pain and suffering.

Wal Mart stores often honor big price mistakes in other ads, like the Madden for 22.49 a few weeks ago. It's very unlikely that you'd get that PM anywhere but a Wal Mart.

And then you go as far as defending Toys R Us, who screwed myself and many CAGS out of the SMG deal (I got lied to on 4 different occasions in 24 hours, and drove down there twice after being lied to)

And like I said earlier if you don't want that gift card give it to a CAG and don't ever step foot in Wal Mart again. As a matter of fact please try to sue them, I'll be hoping the fees for everything costs you so much that you can't afford to have internet to log into CAG anymore. Perhaps it would humble your ass up so you wouldn't think everyone owes you something. People like you are the reason greedy trial lawyers are just salivating and M.Ds have to spend millions on malpractice insurance every year.

So to sum it all up, no one cares, and you're not some sort of crusader. I think I speak for 98% of the CAG community when I say you're pretty much being a douchebag about this whole issue. If your going to "fight the good fight" go after a company that screws CAGs over on a regular basis like Circuit City, not a company who fixes a pricing error by giving you something free. Yeah, it's not a lot, but they didn't have to give you a single penny.
It is really inappropriate for your to call me names and if you don't agree with my position on this issue, that's your choice and you're entitled to your opinion. What you keep missing is that Walmart did not just enforce their posted policy, they sent everyone an e-mail claiming that their orders were cancelled because they had requested that Walmart do so. That's 100% false.

I already told you there is not going to be any lawsuit and frankly, I would never file a lawsuit against anyone. I believe that people generally do the right thing and market pressure and customer preferences will take care of a retailer that engages in fraudulent practices.

It's funny you should mention Circuit City because every time they have ever been out of stock of an item or not had what their ad said they would have, they have always stepped up and handled the situation with a simple visit to their customer service desk. When they didn't have the COD3 in stock, they gave me a discount on COD4. They could have just pointed to the fine print and refused, but they did what any respectable retailer does. How many times have CAGs recieved free gift cards when a game was delayed by the manufacturer which is excluded from Circuit City's guarantee? I know quite a few who have.

You're right, in the big scheme of things, this is pretty minor. I don't think anyone owes me anything in life. I just want people to be honest and fair in their dealings with me, just like I am with the clients and customers I deal with on a daily basis.

How come all of these threads about getting FREE stuff turn into fights?

If you feel Walmart wronged you in not honoring a price mistake which you CLEARLY knew was an error when you placed the order. And a $10 GC isnt enough for you then sue them. See how far you get.

Or just slap your gift card over to me, so I can get Ghost Squad for 10 bucks just like everyone else does. Stupid Targets in Buffalo, it's like they know better!

Well that's nice that your CC gave you a discount on your game, but they refused to give a rain check, discount or anything when I went to get it and there were only 3 people in front of me.

And everyone knows that CC only does that gift card thing if the game isn't there by a certain time to draw customers, but I've heard reports on here of CC squirming out of giving those gift cards as well.

I went to CC the other day because they were advertising and 15 pack of DL DVD-Rs for $15 bucks, low and behold they probably only had about 5, yet they had at LEAST 200 packs of the same brands single layer at regular price. I walk over to Firedog and they told me they wouldn't even discount the 3-5 packs of DL by the same company.

Or how about CC's laying off of thousands of "higher wage" employees and attemtping to rehire them at reduced pay.

How about CC's attack on Speedy?

Is Wal Mart the best retailer? Not by a long shot, but there are dozens of worse corporations doing much worse things, and CC is one of the scummiest retailers around. Fact is, Wal Mart stepped up and you were being obnoxious about it, whether you believe it or not.

Thats how corporate america works and any company.

They'll lay off the higher ups and the people who are paid a lot and lay them off. They'll use their salary and hire someone else who'll just as hard or harder for lower pay. For someone who's making say $60,000..they can pay too scrubs $30,000. Thats double the man power for 1.

Yea it sucks that the person is laid off but do you really think these companies care? All they care about is profit and making money.

I just ordered a plug and play kit for the 360 ... after this GC it was only 7$ shipped ... not bad walmart .... not bad at all.

So let me ask you this.

Say Wal*Mart has an ad advertising, I dunno, No More Heroes for $25 in their weekly ad. You go in to buy it, but it rings up $50. Well you bitch and moan because it is in the ad for $25, but then the employee mentions that there is a price correction that was hanging in front of the glass in the Wii games section.

Do you think that is wrong as well?

This actually reminded me to order a 360 battery pack for my other controller.

Ended up not paying anything after using the $10 GC and another $3 from a GC I got at Christmas.

Way to go Wal-Mart.

An obvious price mistake where thousand take a part in, knowing full well it was a mistake, then cancel all the orders like you are allowed to per the agreements when placing orders, then people bitch, and then you give them $10? Wow.

That. They didn't have to give anyone jack shit.

another bojay?

I used mine to get Red Steel. While not that great of a game, it has 4 player split screen action and I only paid 10 bucks for it because I'm getting it shipped to the Wal-Mart that is half a mile from my apartment.

I got mine on Sunday I used it to get SSBM. I used to own the game but I lost it a few years ago and I have been wanting to get it again but I have not wanted to spend $30 for it since it is a few years old. So with my $10 GC I got it for $22 after shipping and tax. I checked eBay and used copies were going for a bit over $20 after shipping so I figured this would be the best price I would get on a new copy of the game.

Likewise.
Never got mine. Very annoying.
Log into your walmart.com account and check your order history. You should see an order number and an email date for the online gift card they sent.

If you see the order, but still haven't received an email then contact customer service and give them the order number and they will use the $10 gift card to purchase another $10 gift card and try to email it to you again.

If you don't see the order, then contact customer service anyway and find out why they didn't email you a $10 gift card like everyone else whose orders cancelled.

I emailed walmart and sent them a copy of the email they sent me about getting the electronic gift card and they sent it right away. I think they might be withholding some of them until you say something.
Is there really anything decent at Wal-Mart.com to spend this on?
I was wondering that myself... I needed a new bookshelf and hoped that I could find one to use the $10 GC and then have it shipped to store. But no such luck- that's not available.

I was thinking about using it to buy a real giftcard but after shipping, it'll only be an $8 giftcard.

I picked up Mario Golf Advanced Tour for about $2.50 after the discount... figured it'd be a good one to tote around in my DS

... so, did anyone get their pre-ordered games? I just got Burnout Paradise in the mail with a reciept for $45 (with tax). I still have an e-mail saying they cancelled it and Army of Two, but never a cancellation for Devil May Cry 4. I'm just trying to understand how of my 3 ordered games only 2 were cancelled, and of the cancelled 2 I got 1 in the mail. Weirdest part? I never got charged for any.

So, yea, anyone else get payed a $10 gift card to be given a game?

I should have bought Burnout, but $45 was more than I was willing to spend.

I'd laugh if they ship more games.
