CAGiversary!
Angels & Airwaves (often abbreviated as "AVA") are an alternative rock band led by Blink-182 and Box Car Racer guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge. The band also includes guitarist David Kennedy, notably from Over My Dead Body, Hazen Street and Box Car Racer, drummer Atom Willard from The Offspring and Rocket from the Crypt and former 30 Seconds to Mars bassist Matt Wachter, who replaced former The Distillers bassist Ryan Sinn in May 2007. The band has released two albums thus far: We Don't Need to Whisper and I-Empire. They released a documentary entitled Start the Machine on June 17, 2008. Their third album and feature film, both entitled Love, are due out on Valentine's Day 2010.

Heres the link. Its such a good album.

This isn't my kind of music, but I love this. I am a 100% supporter of free, or cheap music that costs enough to keep the artist going, not to line the pockets of music executives and buy their Lamborghini's and drugs. I'm a musician and if I ever released an album, I'd want it to be independent and cheap because I believe that having people listening to and enjoying my music is worth more than anything they would all pay.

Angels & Airwaves may not be everyone's cup of tea(I, personally, love them) but there's no denying that they're doing some pretty cool sh*t. Between they're website(I'd recommend everyone check out modlife) and the free distribution of their third album are things that one doesn't often see. The same can be said for their recent production of their upcoming movie... It's pretty cool to see That Mr. Delonge is now backing up those crazy predictions from way back then. I wish them the best and hope they receive many downloads.... I read somewhere that this whole project was costing him(personally) in excess of $500,000.

Thanks, I'll give a listen and see what I think. Regardless I made a $10 donation just for them making this available free of charge. :)

But how much $ do you think he is made on Blink-182's "reunion" tour last year. I think that AvA is the worst of the blink-182 side projects (Box Car Racer, +44), but I think its great the Tom is giving the album away. AvA needs to prove themselves now. A year and a half ago I would have gone to a AvA show, just to see "that guy from blink" and hope for a couple of Blink and Box Car covers, not anymore

Its all how your musical tastes are. I think the AVA stuff is great. Yes there are moments in the albums that are like hmmm but overall they are great musically. The blink stuff for me helped me through my teen and early to mid 20's (heartache, love, emptiness) you know all those messed up feelings growing up. The AVA stuff now is very uplifting and positive. Its different because it takes you on a ride and really touches your heart... well for me it does. It tells stories and gets your heart racing. You have to look past the well its not Blink-182... and it was never intended to be. Its different (yes it has a U2 vibe but I wasn't into U2 and couldn't connect with them so this is my U2 dammit lol) for whats out there right now. In the mists of all the fucking crying bands and pop bands I see them as a light at the end of the tunnel. Cheers.

Thanks for posting this... didn't hear anything about it... like a previous poster... I've been with blink since the cheshire cat days, and buried myself in the first 2 albums throughout highschool. I didn't care for no need to whisper at first, but I gave it a second listen (and the last blink album) a year or 2 after they came out, and it hit me a completely different way.

thanks again.

who would have thought I would read about this on CAG..however, Sirius XM beat CAG when I heard the single track on there. Downloaded immediately and donated a $1 to get the bonus track. I had no idea this was even coming out...now only if there would be a second +44 album

also, I don't know how many of you know this, but sometime this year a solo album w/ Travis Barker will be coming out. They talked about it at their tour last year. I guess he will be doing viscious drum beats to hip-hop tunes...or stuff like the Transplants..

Travis has his solo album coming, and is currently recording a new Transplants album every Tuesday

Mark has been doing various things, he just put out a song with Pete Wentz for the Alice in Wonderland Soundtrack. He is also working on some project call 10HRSattheMACHINE while Tom finishes up LOVE

Blink should have their album out in late 2010. Although Tom has referred to LOVE as his album and the new blink album as "their" (Mark and Travis's) album.

Oh, for sure he's made plenty of money from that and I'm not denying it. That's actually how he's said he wants to bring in money... Merchandising, premium members to their site, and touring. He's made it clear he wants their music to be free though, and I think that's awesome.
