I stopped into Best Buy today to pick up some 2 for 20 movies for my mom, when i spied a burnout revenge demo for ps2 just lying at the checkout counter. It rang up as $0.00. The store had about 30 of them, so your store might have them to. Now off to play it to see if it is better than BO3.
The graphics look even tighter than Burnout 3.
They look about the same as they did in 3 to me. The track reminded me a lot of Need for Speed Underground. I wish they had more than one track/car/mode in the demo.

With the crashbreaker available in the race, it seems less like a racing game and more like a car-based combat game, like Twisted Metal. They might as well give you power-ups and side-mounted rocket launchers.

BTW, the Beavercreek, OH store should have plenty of demos available.
Well, like a tool I drove 40+ minutes round trip and of course the closest Best Buy didn't have it. I fucking hate Best Buy in general and this store in particular.

Every time I ask for something they never have it (even if the web site says it's in stock) and all the employees ever say is "Sir, we're a satellite store, check our other stores" in such a way like I'm bothering them. I know it's kind of annoying to be asked about a free video game demo, but I've had the same treatment for DVD's, DVD boxsets, digital cameras. . .

Meh.
They shouldn't act annoyed. This damn demo (which is really awesome) got me in the store where I purchased a new CD. That was something that I did not plan on doing today.

Got one at the Beaverton, OR store tonight - thanks OP! The guy asked me where I heard about it and I told him "the Internet". Luckily he didn't push for *where* on the Internet - he just thought that was amusing since they weren't advertising it or anything. They just had them stacked up on top of the high-priced video game "cage" (the locked game case). He said a rep just came by recently and gave them to him.

No luck here. fucking Best Buy...

The guy was helpful though. He asked where I had heard about this, I said here, he couldnt find the page. Decided to try IGN and he found nothing. He typed it in the system and it came up with nothing.

I wonder if I can save myself a trip and just call to see if its available.

I just read through the IGN article, and I'm starting to think that @$$holes out there are taking numerous copies for no reason. I went to my BB yesterday afternoon after reading the thread and I got there just in time to see the guy taking the empty demo box away. I asked if they had anymore and the guy tells me "it's now empty so I guess that means there is no more right?". To which I quickly replied "Well, I guess now you can go find a real job that might require a high school degree huh?". No offense to anyone to works at BB but this guy had the most annoyed attitude, like he just walked 20 minutes in scorching heat and humidity to have to deal with a fucking sales associate.

Don't judge the PS2 loading times as final. The PS2 demo is on a CD whereas the Xbox one is on a DVD. (Xbox games are all DVDs)
When the game's released, it should be MUCH better.

Well, as a general rule of thumb, PS2 games do load slower than an xbox version of the same game simply because of memory, hard drive, and dvd-drive speed. I doubt the load time for the PS2 version will be faster than the xbox version but to hear that the PS2 demo is on a cd is rather shocking considering the fact that the full versions of 2 and 3 were on a dvd for the PS2. Hmmm... EA favoritism?

it's a demo, remember that. I was playing last night and my car fell off a ramp and through the track to a blue abyss, and it counted as a crash.
I was gonna get 2, but now I'm glad I didn't. IGN was too greedy to take 24 copies of it. That just sounded stupid.
It's a fun demo though. I caught on quicky and know almost all the shortcuts in the level now. I wish you could choose from one of the slower cars though, because it's easier to get more takedowns with them..

So, are people just walking in and taking this off of the counter? Are you ringing it up? Are they denying it unless you purchase something else?

I'm guessing it's just sitting on a counter or shelf somewhere. They probably have "an eye" on them but I guess whether or not you have to buy something is a YMMV.

wtf is up with that... I hope they were only kidding.
Weird but the Bestbuy near me didn't open today... there were employees outside saying that they weren't able to open...
 Hahahaha... someone is trying to keep all the copies for themselves I guess. :whistle2:\"

I went by the local B&M store today, and they had PS2 and Xbox demo discs sitting out in the respective game sections. I looked around but didn't see anything else I wanted, so I just took copies of each to the checkout counter, and the clerk put them in a bag for me. :D

 I want a demo disc. I guess I'll try another BB... is it even worth the effort? I mean eventually OXM will probably have the demo on their demo disc (hopefully this month's issue! ) so I don't know if it's worth the long journey to the other BB's in the city.

You can just grab it. I felt a little weird about it until I saw the large print on it that says NOT FOR SALE. It's pretty clearly a freebie.

People who miss out- don't feel bad, it's seriously not that exciting. No multiplayer, no live, and one pretty boring (although cool-looking) track, with only the standard race game mode supported (no crash, road rage, eliminator, etc.) Messing with the new car physics and crashbreakers is neat, but you can get the idea from videos of the game on the net. I found the teaser movie on the game disk to be actually more exciting than the demo itself. And this is coming from a major Burnout fanboy (despite accusations in this thread that I haven't even played it for 15 minutes).

Came back from Cerritos BB again. Asked an employee about them and he didnt know, he asked someone else and they said that their in the back, she told him to go get them and just make sure that I get it scanned out. I'll be playing tonight Sweet!!!!
I liked 2's crash mode better, otherwise, not even close.

I guess if I only had a 'Cube I'd make comments like that too.
Yes! I loved the crash mode on 2 and thought it was waaay better than 3. 3's crash mode is terrible for multiplayer, imo. Hopefully Revenge will be better.

I picked up the xbox demo today form BB. There was a stack of them on the media counter.

To me, it is just like Burnout 3 except you have more control over your crashes and more environment interaction. The paths you take in races can make a big difference on how and when you crash, and of course if you win the race. You can also use traffic to your advantage to throw a car in the path of another. If you are looking for a big change in gameplay, there really isn't other than what i just mentioned.

It's a lot like Burnout 3, but I loved Burnout 3, so I'll love Burnout: Revenge.

Mine is only giving them out if you buy the presell, which defeats the whole purpose of a demo.

I haven't played the demo yet, and I haven't seen it at my Best Buy, but sending traffic flying by crashing into it concerns me. Dodging traffic was one of the most frustrating parts of Burnout 3, but also one of the most rewarding. Few things could compare to the rush of narrowly squeezing through heavy traffic on the highway at 200 mph.
Got one, Daytona had both flavors, sitting in the game racks. I plan on torrenting the demo up for distribution.
Planning on jail time too?

Awesome demo, I played it for like an hour. Revenge fixes the only problem I had with Burnout 3, the "normal" (as in cabs and family cars) traffic that would fuck you up in Burnout 3 now goes flying forward into your opponents. Ohh, what satisfaction is had in bashing your way through rush-hour traffic.
i picked mine up in Nashville and they were sitting in a mounted wall rack in the videogame department.
I just responded to your PM from the other day, and I was about to send another response mentioning that they had a ton of them for each systems at the Cool Springs BB. Glad you found them. Odd that the PS2 version was shrinkwrapped, but not the Xbox version.
Yeah, I've heard those rumors, so that's what I'll probably do. Has it already been confirmed that the 360 would have backwards compatability though? I haven't really been keeping up lately.
It's semi backwards compatible. MS is gonna make it so that only "best-sellers" are compatible with the 360. Details beyond that, like which games and how many, haven't yet been disclosed.

I was playing the demo last night and OMG I cant wait till it comes out. This game took what made Burnout3 fun and exciting and made it better with the option to hurl traffic toward your oponents and using crashbreakers when you crash. You would think why use crash breakers? But once you start using them at the exact moment that your oponents are trying to pass your wreckage you will see your oponents blow up and you will get extra points. The revenge system is soooooo awesome. You get so much satisfaction from performing them. Yeah the demo is short but this track has multiple shortcuts, and ramps, its simply amazing. Highly recommended to any arcade racing fan out there or burnout fan.

Burnout Revenge is coming out for the X360

I got the demo yesterday too. I was surprised that my BB had it. Played it over quite a few times. it's a must buy for me. but then again I would have bought it even without trying the demo. I love the burnout series.

If you have enough spare time, you should email or snail mail a complaint letter to BB. Mention that if "satellite store" means "terrible customer service and no selection", that they'd be better off shutting it down, as it is ruining your opinion of their company. If an employee tells you to check another BB (in general, I don't know if it would work for the demo, since it may not even be in their system (the guy at checkout did not ring mine up with the rest of my items)), you tell him that you are just a customer, and since he has access to the inventory system, it'd be really nice if he'd do the checking (flavor with as much sarcasm as you deem necessary).

I should be at another BB tonight. PM me and let me know which version of the demo you want, and if they have it, it's yours.

P.S. I was going to link to the DVDPlanet thread, but they have raised the prices to $33.96. Still a decent deal (15% off), but not nearly as good as the 30% off that it had been. Oh, well, I'll link it anyway, just don't be expecting the prices shown in the OP: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56056&page=1&pp=20
Planning on jail time too?
 That's true, careful what you say man, ripping a game (even if it's a free demo) and posting it publicly is illegal still last time I checked. But there's only one way to find out right? DO IT! And then come back and tell us what happens... but if you're in jail I guess we'll understand if you don't post a response. :booty:

Not the least bit true. Microsoft paid a fee to nvidia to allow ati to run an EMULATOR of their drivers, and they are only tweaking that environment for the most popular games.

Yeah, Backwards compatibility is still iffy on the 360, they're not saying exactly to what extent it will be compatible.

On topic, I just came back from Best Buy here in Orlando, the girl had to go to the back to get the demo disc, she asked if I wanted the xbox or ps2 one, I asked for the xbox one, she gave it to me, I brought it to the cashier, she scanned it and said I could not take it cause it says its not for sale. I asked the first girl about it again, she talked to her manager and said that they're not sure what they're doing with them yet, they might be attached to something or advertised in next week's ad. She told me to check back then :whistle2:(.

I was wondering the same thing. I had heard that Burnout Revenge was going to be a demo with Madden 06, but were these the demos and they just put them out? Maybe that's why certain stores have them in the back still?
Not the least bit true. Microsoft paid a fee to nvidia to allow ati to run an EMULATOR of their drivers, and they are only tweaking that environment for the most popular games.
Hmmmm... the problem with a dedicated graphics driver huh? Royalties and junk. I guess that's why the PS2 had no problems being backward compatible since it didn't have an established third party chip or driver running the graphics. I wonder how big of a difference was it for MS to choose ATI this time around. IMHO Nvidia still has a very strong chip and going toe to toe against ATI is not a problem. And the other things is, developers like team ninja and others who made AAA games for the xbox are familiar with programming for Nvidia already, why suddenly change? Well, either way, here's hoping for even more stunning jaw dropping results from the new systems.
did anyone get the same glitch I got?
Yeah, I played for about 20 minutes and dropped out of the world twice. The screen just goes blue, and you can hear crashes and stuff, but can't see anything.

Got back from BB. On the way out security told me I had to buy something to get it wtf? Bought a DVD and returned it after I walked out of the store. Got the PS2 version

The Rivergate store is out.. I haven't checked any stores, just had someone tell me the Rivergate store was sold out.. I need to go get one.

Crud, I was just on my way there, as I need to head up north anyway. Oh well (I already got mine, but I was thinking of getting one for Haggar (although he has not PM'ed me, so I don't know if he wants one or which one he'd want)). I should have picked up an extra for you from Cool Springs last night, they had plenty, I just didn't think of it, sorry.

"Not the least bit true"...what Microsoft secret documents did you steal that informed you of this?

No one here (or anywhere else outside of MS) knows exactly what they are going to do. They originally said "popular," and after they were scrutinized for that, expanded it to suggest as many as possible. All we do know is they will use emulation to do it.

In the case of this particular game, it's just about guaranteed it will work, as Burnout is a popular series and EA is a popular publisher.
