Are there any reliable places online that will provide a free credit report? I've never checked mine before and need to make sure things are in order. Any suggestions?

Starting this year you are able to get a free report form each of the 3 major credit reporting agencies every year. This would be for the credit report only, if you want to purchase your credit score, that is extra. I plan on checking with all 3 agencies but I will spread them out so I can get a free one every four months.

It figures that the reports aren't available for the south until June 1. Anyone else have any other sites/experiences with getting a credit report?

well if you have a cc, most have "credit protect" programs which IMO are garbage to the consumer and gold to the cc company. MOST have "free" trials for 30 days or so, in that time you are supplied with a copy of your credit report. i've signed up for these in the past for the free credit report. as soon as it arrives you HAVE to call and cancel. make sure you get a cancellation/confirmation number for your records. the first time (and last) it didn't get cancelled the first time, but they ended up refunding the monthly fee.

Also, i think if you apply for a cc and sign up, you are entitled to a copy of the credit report they received. i can't confirm that though.

Yeah, I got my free credit report.....they were ok. I'm not really worried though, I've always had good credit. Always paid my balance on my credit cards (until now....house and getting married and honeymoon have impacted my credit card)

I'm not worried about being rejected for anything, it's more to look and see what is on my report and exactly what my score is. Being a cheapass myself there has got to be a way around the 9 to 15 bucks that equifax, etc. want to charge.

if you want, apply for a credit card from providian, they provide you with a continually updated free credit score online (it kicks into gear 1-3 months after your card is activated though, so again, its a wait)

i dont recommend using the credit card as their rates are not too great, but they do have particular card programs (doubleday book club, for example), there are no annual fees, and they are more lenient in giving cards and larger balances than other companies

I would recommend NOT applying for an additional credit card just to get the report unless you are actually interested in a new card. A CC company pulling your report can in some cases hurt your credit score.
