If you use the code GIMAG on theeca.com (found in an article of the new Crackdown GI issue), you can receive a free, full 1 year membership (I think it's only for new accounts). You do need a credit card to sign up, but if you cancel before the 1 year is up, you won't be charged. This is a great deal for the free amazon discount. Be sure to use the coupon soon, because the article doesn't mention the expiration for the coupon.

Enjoy guys!
dallascowboys

P.S. Now all of CAG can have an ECA membership!

Also, after you enter your CC number and the coupon, the page after lets you check everything before you submit your order. That way you know that the coupon worked and you won't be charged.

LinkinPrime Edit:

Check your spam filters for the confirmation link, if you signed up for the newsletter you will get 2 emails, one for the newsletter and one for the membership. For some reason the newsletter one showed up in my inbox and the membership was in my junk mail folder, so keep an eye out.

You weren't kidding. Ok I found this on page 28. All credit goes to jacknicklson for the original faq (1-6).

ECA/Amazon FAQ

1. I can't get into the member's area/can't find out where to pay. Help!

After the initial registration email, you should receive a second email linking you to a payment page. You can request that this email be resent if need be. Make sure to check your junk/spam folders as well.

2. Will this work on consoles?

No. Games and most accessories only. Physical point cards are also eligible, but not digital point codes.

3. Do these work on Quick Picks/Deals of the Day/Trade-in Coupons?

Yes, Yes, and Yes!

4. How do I get my Quick Picks to show games?

http://betterelevation.com/2009/02/1...old-box-trick/
This should be a basis to get it to work for whatever you are interested in. It is not a science though so be persistent.

5. Does this work on Pre-orders?

Yes, it does. The price will also automatically take off 10% of whatever the final selling point is due to the Pre-Price Guarantee that Amazon offers.

6. I have heard that these offers have expired/been removed, is this true?

There have been a few instances where codes expired or they ran out but The ECA and Amazon have usually rectified the situation within a week or so. Also, the Terms of Service state that any membership benefits can change or be canceled without any notice so keep that in mind when signing up.

7. Double and Triple stacking

This is no longer possible. Don't bother trying. Originally when the ECA would run out of codes and switch to a new batch members were able to stack codes. A glitch in Amazon's system would keep older codes in your account, and it was possible to add codes from the newer batches to obtain more than 10% off. Amazon found out about this, hence the reason the codes are currently down/ being worked on.

8. Begging/Asking for codes

This is not allowed. If you beg/ask for a code you will be permabanned. No questions asked.

9. Selling codes

Definitely a big no no. If you do this, you will get reported to the ECA and your account will be shut down.

10. If I make a pre-order with a code a cancel it, will the code still work?

Yes. Codes should remain in your account but again they will no longer stack. It is one code per game. Amazon and the ECA are working on codes tied into our accounts but this option is not yet available.

11. If I already have a pre-order made, can I add a 10% off code to it?

You can not add a anything to an order once it is made except a gift card. You can try emailing Amazon customer support and ask them to add it. Generally they have no issue doing this for you but it's a crap shoot.

12. What if I already have a pre-order with the old codes applied? Should I be worried?

We don't know definitively, but chances are good that Amazon will not touch the pre orders we have already made.
Wish I had come back to this thread recently. I signed up for the free ECA when it was announced but hadn't looked to pick up a code for amazon until today. Would have been nice to know there aren't any amazon codes being given out until they get their issues straightened out.
I don't see why they can't just link ECA account with Amazon and automatic give 10% game discount
For the same reason they don't link your tax return to your amazon account.

Actually they may soon require your SSN to sell on amazon and ebay...
I really want to preorder uncharted 2 with the eca code, sucks that they are not up yet.
I really wanted to yesterday when U2 was in my gold box... owell, it's only like $2.50 difference, just wait for the codes to come back.

I got $10 credit back for NBA2k10, how does this work I can use it on anything purchased from Amazon? Or video games only?

read something about on 2k games only which would suck
I dont know about that... at least the people i talked to on amazon..

i ordered a video game that was to come out SEPT 22... for 29.99

well the game said out of stock on the 23 and called them up and they go

The game has been pushed back till SEPT 29 and for your troubles we weill give you 29.99 credit

Well on sept 30 i called them up to let them know gamestop now has this listed as OCT 27 and it says gamestop only..

they go thank you for your call and for your troubles we will give you 15.00 credit since i did not ship out again..

Well i got another email saying shipping date is TBA so i just cancelled it cause rumor is it will be download only now...

So i ended up getting 45 bucks in amazon credits for spending 0.00 LOL thats almost a free year of prime
LOL. WTF?! Only at Amazon where you could get away with this. Their customer service is just too good most of the time.

It is for video games only, but it is definitely not limited to only 2k games.

You signed up for a year of ECA for free. You don't get to complain and you don't get to expect squat from the service.

Here is ECA's answer to the gamefly problem. Seems like some people see the code and some do not or something. I have a feeling nobody sees the code. http://forums.theeca.com/showthread.php?t=6764&page=2
Gamefly code is back up.

Thanks for the kind words.
Read my first sentence: "Wish I had come back to this thread recently." I placed blame on myself for not checking up on the ECA Amazon codes until today.
I didn't complain about something that I got for free.
I didn't complain about the codes not being available, which I am happy they are working on fixing and will return to the ECA members.
"Would have been nice to know..." is me placing further blame on myself for not being educated when the information was here on a site I frequent often during the day.

I appreciate you heaping on though, that's real cool.
You signed up for a year of ECA for free. You don't get to complain and you don't get to expect squat from the service.
I don't follow your logic at all PvtChurch. Regardless of what someone paid, ECA touts all over their webpage about how a few purchases at Amazon.com per year pays for your membership.

It should not be taking this long to figure out how to take a non-stacking 10% off an order. I can have my DNA decoded faster than this.

disclaimer: I paid nothing for my 3 ECA accounts. I expect services to produce close to what they advertise regardless of what I pay. I intentionally stacked orders because saving money is cool.

It does seem like it would be very simple to say "currently unavailable" on the benefits page. Instead, they say "see forum for details" and you have to hunt around a bunch of posts that say "don't discuss any already answered topics".

one nice thing about this - I had finally had an excuse to order from walmart.com and use a giftcard they sent for a guitar hero promotion several months ago.
You signed up for a year of ECA for free. You don't get to complain and you don't get to expect squat from the service.
Last time I checked, you weren't the superior of everyone else in this world. Besides, he wasn't even complaining about ECA. And even if he had been, he would still have a right to complain. Giving out free ECA memberships to people to attract paying members wouldn't work out so well if they couldn't even deliver on their basic claims now, would it?

FWIW, I signed up for free. Not that it makes any damn difference at all whether I paid or not.

adventures to go psp is the game

yeap that is the game and yes i do have 45 amazon credit for 0 out of pocket ..i can see given people credit if all they call up #$## and throw a fit but just asking questions about why a game did not ship (to see if it was really coming out or if they knew download only) to give someone 2 credits is just sort of laughable... .... if amazon does get it though i will buy it from them,...

This year alone i probally got 80 to 100 free credit from amazon.

One game i ordered back in may somehow slipped though the system and did not ship out that day so they gave me a 20 buck credit..

O I'm sorry, is your CAG dick bigger than mine? Ooo I'm so scared of being judged by an online forum just because you've been a member longer than me.

The gentleman whom I had addressed payed nothing for his ECA membership. Anything he gets out of that membership is free and he is entitled to nothing, it's all gravy.

Now in retrospect he indeed was not complaining about the service and was instead lamenting his inaction before the codes went down. I thought he was acting as though he were entitled to his codes that he currently does not have access to on his free service. He was not. I see that. I apologize.

You however sir, well the internet is serious business so by all means continue policing it for those who don't respect their forum elders.

What's sad is that 'Veteran' is on my ignore list...I wonder why?

Guys, shut the hell up.

This topic is about discussing the (Free) ECA Membership 10% off Amazon Videogames/Acc. coupon. Not to insult the shipmates of CAG.

The Amazon coupon being down sucks, but considering how much -most- of us have saved from it, it's not a huge blow for us to wait a week or so for them to come back up. This is an -insanely- good deal, especially paired with Amazon's already low prices, great promos and great customer service.

Let's try to discuss what we'll use the codes on when they come back instead of complaining because it's not fair.

It might not be fair, but you are -not- going to change anything by being a low-life about it.

On-topic: I've been browsing, and I've realized something... With the ECA discount, I'm -always- looking for the next good purchase, the -next- awesome deal. The -next- cheap-ass game. This is an insanely good deal for us, but it does help Amazon too. The purchases of games there must've increased at least two or three-fold since the ECA was introduced, along with the Amazon trade-in program.

CAG (and Slickdeals) are viewed -daily- by thousands of people. While it does reduce profits, it also increases them as people increase they're buying at Amazon in percentages as high as a -1000%- increase in purchases.

I mentioned this in passing the other day, but I am really interested for Amazon to, if not release sales figures, then at least give some sort of percentage. I want to see the game orders from last September vs this September. That's one reason I was utterly confident the ECA codes weren't going away when others were panicking: They must have experienced a rather large boost in video game orders, stacking codes or not. With the 10% off, they may be losing a bit if you look at all the orders they get, but they probably made more overall profit as a result.

Still speculation on my part as to their increase, but I'd bet heavily that they experienced quite a boom since I, much like you, have been looking on Amazon for the next big game coming out and try to get it on Amazon (looking at you, PS3 versions of MGS: Rising and Castlevania :p) I went from shopping probably 40% Amazon, 40% Gamestop, 20% Other, to probably 90% Amazon, 5% Gamestop, 5% Other.

Enough with the e-penis waving contest.

Keep the petty bickering out of here, and if you need to wave around your e-penises to see whose is bigger, go do it via PM's.

Or, as I'd prefer, go ignore one another so it won't be an issue again in the future.

If we need future mod involvement in here, some bits of silenced time or temp bans seem very likely.

Thanks shrike. Unfortunately, this thread can't seem to go two pages without some shit eating contest or lazy ass questions that've been answered already in the thread.

Is anyone getting MW2 on their goldbox yet? sucks the game is $59.99 unlike most new games that come with %5 off. Anyhow been trying to get it thur but nothing. Is this game like Demon's souls where it rarely gets on quick picks?
Anyone have a 66XX code they would be willing to trade for a JTXX one?
Your name expresses exactly what I thought when I read that.

Sad, I finally get Amazon to give me my small amount of credit back for my games getting lost in the mail, and the ECA benefits are currently down when Uncharted 2 is in my gold box. What a predicament.

Darknight, don't bother with MW2 in quickpicks. Order it now with an eca code, or as soon as you get one. You might want to pre-order now, incase the 10$ video game credit goes away, and just get an eca code applied later by e-mailing amazon.

Which is the same advice I'd give you interfeci, e-mail them a code. Just cancel in like 2-3 days if the eca codes are not back so it doesn't ship out since game + eca is better than just game + goldbox anyway.
so anyone knows when the codes are gona be back?
Updated yesterday, over at ECA they are estimating a few days for the codes to be back, and multi-unique codes at that!

http://forums.theeca.com/showthread.php?t=6672

Quote from Gypsyfly at ECA:
"CURRENT STATUS:

**Amazon.com has asked us to remove the current batch of ECA member discount codes due to abuse issues related to a software exploit such as "stacking". They are reevaluating and will update us shortly on next steps!**

The bad news is that it’s going to take a few days later to get the new batch of codes this time (maybe Friday/Monday), which is still faster than it used to be. The good news is that Amazon is working on the much-wished-for unique multi-use codes! Hooray! We'll update the benefit section and here on the forums once we have any new information. Don't worry the benefit will be back

Thanks for the updates -- hopefully (but highly unlikely) people will actually read this post and stop asking "When's the next batch?" and the like.

Great news. ECA paid for itself, the second I paid for a 1-year membership for $15 and I don't regret it at all.

Glad to hear about the multi-use unique 10% off codes.

That means it would just be one code we enter and it keeps giving us the discount, right?

If so that's awesome! If it was easier to trade in games it would be completely perfect.

Because they don't want to run out of codes in less than 12 hours from an influx of pre-orders.

It's not going to drop in price for two years so you might as well get it now with that extra $5 credit and hold onto it until you can play it.
