Free Maxim for 1 year

Anyone receiving postcards from a PO Box in Lakewood, CO?

Whenever I sign up for free stuff, I put a faux or misspelled name and keep track of what name gets 'extra bonuses' after signing up for something. The name I gave for Maxim got a postcard saying there's "good news" waiting for me.

I haven't called, and don't plan on it. Just wondering how many other people got this too.

lulz i just got that postcard after 3months of getting these free Maxims.

They were going to give me 1000$ grocery card. But when they asked me if i was paying for the sub i said naw, and they said just disregard that postcard then. :p

I guess it's there way to filtering out those that don't pay for the subs i guess.

WARNING: THIS MAY LEAD TO SCAMMERS TRYING TO SCREW YOU. I just received a call from some agency claiming that when I had gotten my free year I had actually signed up for some stupid service that ultimately would lead to me paying almost $2,000 for 5 years of service. They tried getting a credit card number out of me, but when I refused I was transferred to a "supervisor". He said that everything was paid for so that I now owed them money. I refused that too, and he said that he was just a rep and the company I owed money to was not his. When I asked for that company's phone number, the bastard hung up on me. Please bump this and change the thread title, I don't want other CAGs getting duped out of their money. The call came from (402) 982-0457.

EDIT: Wanted to note that they had my name, address, and phone number, so although it's a scam, someones giving info out.

Whoa, didn't expect all this. I signed up for this, have gotten 2 of the magazines so far, no strange phone calls (yet).

After a little research on the number, seems like a lot of people are getting calls from the same number with similar results and responses, so I wouldnt be worried - http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/4029820457
got my first 2 magazines today
Same here, I also tacked on another year so my subscription now expires in 2012.
Got my 2 issues too...addressed to Sexy Boy of the PWN YOU HARD company..
LMAO
Got my first two, but I already had those two oh well, freebies for someone.

daaaang I still have not gotten mine :(

I have gotten some e-mail from them asking if I want to subscribe to other magazines though...
I'm thinking of just buying a year- anyone think it's worth $10? Haven't read maxim in years and I've heard it's not as good anymore.

Just signed up to this for the first time, but didn't know that it requires publisher approval.

I put that I'm an installer for an adult training company. I thought it was a clever lolpornreference, I don't think the publisher will find it as witty as I do.
For those of you who have received it, what did you put when they asked for a business address and number?
I don't remember putting a business address or anything.

If i did, i probably used my home address i wanted the mags sent to.

Did any of you receive a confirmation email about this? I am pretty sure my subscription went through but just wanted to make sure i can get the magazines sent to my ship instead of my home address.

After going through the first few months of Maxim I have to say I don't even want them to come anymore.

Game Informer for $5 was totally worth it though.

I received an issue a few days ago, and it didn't say they had added on either of the 2 years I signed up for via this thread and another.

Just got another call from the scammers. This is getting annoying. Wish I could just cancel Maxim and never have to deal with this crap again. Go to the bottom of page 3 of this thread if you want info on what scam I'm talking about. Reported these people to donotcall.gov and sent a pissed off email to Maxim. Hope this stops soon.

UPDATE: Got a reply from Maxim:

"Dear Mr. XXXXX,

We apologize that you are being contacted by the below agency. We have marked your account so your information will not be provided to third party agencies. Your subscription will expire with the March 2011 issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you for subscribing to Maxim.

Sincerely,
XXXXX
Customer Service"

The good new is that this will hopefully stop the calls. The bad news is that this basically states that Maxim itself is the one giving away personal info to third parties, and this problem isn't because of the offer. This basically means that anyone who gets Maxim may start getting the calls. Shame on you, Maxim.
