I was at EB drooling over RE4 when I noticed the Nintento rep come in. I overheard her mention, as she gave a "complimentary" copy of the Minish Cap to the manager, that she had "a whole bunch of them" that she did not give out. Taking the opportunity, I walked up and asked her about them. They're cart only and on the label is printed a "not for resale" message, but other than that it has the same label as the retail version; It's just cart only. She said she had about 10 more and gave me one. Simple. Not too bad for a game that just came out. If I like it, I'll trade it in towards a new version (they take it for trade in). Hopefully one of you guys can catch the reps while they're in the store and snag a free copy.

when i worked at eb i used to get free crap from the nintendo rep all the time. that was the only rep that ever came in the store.

Congrats on nabbing the game for free!

I find it odd that Nintendo feels the need to promote something as big as the next Zelda game via Nintendo Rep. foot soldiers with free manager copies. I mean, isn't the fact that it's freaking ZELDA and a TV commercial enough? Are they worried the DS may have stolen too much thunder?

Well, no free game but the managers of my local EB are holding that kick-ass Minish Cap standee for me when they're done with it. That thing is sweeeet - think it'll replace my Zelda: Four Swords one I have up now. :D

Damn, I'm jealous.

My friends who still work retail(walmart at least) only get pens, keychains, pins, decals, you know the cheap stuff.

And that's how I got my US version of Minish about a week or go or so.....but I plan on buying it tomorrow at CC B&M also. Gotta support the company.

Nintendo is always nice to managers. I've gotten free copies of Wario Ware, DKC 2, Mario & Luigi, and now Zelda. Also some pretty cool t-shirts and key chains.

To the OP, nice score man! Enjoy the game!
I really wish I could figure out how to ask for standees and display pieces.

I can't seem to figure out a polite/normal way of doing it.
Just find the manager and tell him that once you were done with the standee, can you give me a call and i'll pick it up right away? Most stores just toss them out anyway, so it's worth a shot.

Wait wait... what are standees and display pieces? The "kind" of game that the OP got?

No, the OP got the full version of Zelda: Minish Cap, but with no box or instructions. They were to be given out to store managers.

I think he's talking about the displays that game stores have, to promote new games coming out. Oversized boxes, cardboard cutouts, or in the case of the Zelda one, a very nice standee.

OP while you were there you shoulda asked for one of the Minish Cap display boxes. They usually have a lot for new releases. It might not have the manual but still nice.

Just ask. My brother, a Friend, and I go down to EB every week to ask for any standees/ display pieces they don't want. So far we've get a Ghost Recon 2 standee, a Pirates standee, a Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 standee and a bunch of display pieces (I think we've got 15 or so by now?) Yeah, we just asked. Also, if nobody wants it we're going to get the Minnish Cap standee too.

Yeah, I should get a display box, but I'm thinking that my Local Eb throws out the boxes and manuals anyway...and someone's bound to trade in their copy of Minish cap soon........Can't get any better than free.

I work at Toys R Us, so getting stands and the such are not that hard. This is the latest one i snagged not to long ago.

I've gotten more than 10 more GCN games since I got that sign, so there are more overflowing all over. LOL. I need to do the right thing and buy a damn dvd rack.

Just had to pop in and say this game is pretty sweet so far. Nice to see capcom can make a great Zelda game in addition to a *drool* awesome*drool* revamp to the Resident Evil Series.

I got a chance to play it the other day, just moving around. Looks pretty smooth, and the graphics are top-notch. :D
