Not sure if everyone already knows this or not.

I had an old profile on my xbox that my friend made but never registered for xbl silver. I decided to use register for a silver account it for the free gold weekend. At the end it gave me the option to upgrade to gold for 12 months for $60, or one month for $1. I said "upgrade later" and it gave me a free month. Made two more accounts and got a free month of them too.

I used the dashboard not xbox.com

Yes, new XBL Gold accounts have always gotten a free month.

I got the $1 for a month thing 3 times already (with gold for over xx years). I'm hoping it shows up again my account isn't up till 8/12
